A Bi-directional Coding using Time Reversal Mirror in Relay Systems (중계기 기반 시스템에서의 시역전 방법을 적용한 양방향 부호화)

  • In this paper, we propose a bi-directional coding method (BTC) using time reversal mirror for effective data exchange between mobile stations and basestations. In conventional relay systems, while one node transmits data, other nodes should keep silent to avoid interference. Thus, to interchange data between basestations and mobile stations, it needs four stages. However, using the proposed BTC method, a relay station transmits a probe source before data transmission, and using this information, mobile stations and basestations transmit data to the relay station simultaneously. Therefore, since it exchanges data in only two steps, the system achieves improved system capacity. In addition, owing to no need for complex calculation, the relay system can be implemented with low complexity. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves enhanced system capacity.

  • 어느 때나 장소에 구애받지 않고 원하는 정보를 제공할 수 있는 이동 컴퓨팅 기술들이 활발히 연구되고 있다. 현재 인터넷은 대부분이 유선망에 기반을 두고 있다. 최근 IMT-2000의 개발로 무선망에서의 인터넷 개발이 급속히 진전함에 따라 적절한 QoS를 보장할 수 있는 무선망 프로토콜의 제공이 필요하다. 이동 컴퓨팅 환경에서 이동 호스트가 앞으로 핸드오프해 새로 접속할 기지국만을 멀티캐스트 그룹으로 취하여 무선 링크 상에서 TCP의 성능저하를 줄일 수 있는 무선TCP 프로토콜을 제안한다.

A Study on Receiver Sensitivity Measurement using Pilot $E_c/I_o$ Compensation Method at CDMA Communication Network (CDMA 기지국에서 Pilot $E_c/I_o$ 보상기법을 이용한 수신감도 측정에 관한 연구)

  • Currently, the measurement of RF parameters for a base station in operation is typically limited to easily measured forward path items. In this paper, the forward monitoring ports of base stations are used to measure the reverse RF performance. The system has been implemented and effectiveness has been proven on an operating base station. The receiver sensitivity is measured using an internal CDMA modem which is used to monitor the output power based on closed loop power control when the modem is connected to the base station via a voice call. In order to improve accuracy, in addition to the modem Tx adjust(TxAdj) parameter, the detector's actual measurement is used. For accurate receiver sensitivity, the measurement should be made when there is no traffic which is not possible on an operating base station. Therefore, pilot channel chip energy to received signal power spectral density ratio$(E_c/I_o)$ compensation method is used to offset the receiver sensitivity degradation with voice traffic increase.

A Study on the Integration of Automatic Enforcement Equipment and UTIS Base Station (무인단속장비와 UTIS 기지국 통합 방안 연구)

  • In this paper, we suggested the integration between automatic enforcement system and UTIS(Urban Traffic Information System) base station. UTIS base station and automatic enforcement system are different in the height of installation and the type of communication network. UTIS base station is 25 meter high and communicate with center system by optical network. Whereas automatic enforcement system is 6.6 meter high and communicate with center system by rental network. For the purpose of suggesting the efficient method of integration, research was as in the following. We found that the number of integrated system was 1,628 through the present state of analysis and UTIS equipment was satisfied with the required specifications through field testing. Also we suggested the appropriate configuration of the integrated system and analyzed that the cost of the integrated system installment is 1/5 lower than that of the legacy system installment.

An Efficient Algorithm for Causal Message Delivery in Distributed Mobile Systems (분산 이동 시스템에서 인과적 메시지 전달을 위한 효율적인 알고리즘)

  • 분산 이동 시스템은 단순한 통신 기능에서 작업 흐름 관리, 화상회의, 전자 메일과 같은 서비스를 제공하는 시스템으로 급속히 확대.발전하고 있으며, 이들 어플리케이션들은 사용자의 요구를 반영하기 위해 메시지를 인과적 순서로 전달해야 한다. 인과적 메시지 전달을 제공하는 기존의 방법들은 많은 피기백(piggyback) 정보로 인한 통신 오버헤드 혹은 어플리케이션으로 전달하는 메시지의 지연, 이동 호스트의 증가에 대한 비확장성 등의 문제점이 있다. 이 논문은 기지국과 이동 호스트 사이의 종속 정보 행렬을 기지국이 유지하며, 즉각 선행자 메시지(immdiate predecessor message)에 대한 종속 정보만을 각 메시지에 피기백하는 방법을 통하여 기존 기법의 문제점을 해결하는 효율적인 인과적 메시지 전달 기법을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 이전의 알고리즘들과 비교해서 낮은 메시지 오버헤드를 가지며, 메시지를 전달할 때의 불필요한 지연(inhibition)이 발생하지 않는다. 또한 제안된 알고리즘은 이동 호스트의 에너지 사용에 대한 제약성, 무선 통신의 낮은 대역폭, 이동 호스트 수의 증가에 대한 확장성, 무선 통신의 잦은 접속 단절과 같은 요소를 고려한다.

  • 본 논문은 광대역 무선통신 채널환경에서 3GPP 표준안에 기반한 비동기식 IMT-2000 시스템의 송수신기를 구성하여 수신단의 기지국 수신성능을 분석한다. 다중 경로 페이딩 모델로는 ITU-R M.1225에서 제시된 모델을 적용하였으며, 이동국과 기지국의 Uplink 채널환경을 고려하였다. 성능개선 기법으로 어레이 안테나를 채용하였고, 동일채널 간섭제거기와 레이크 수신기를 혼합하여 기존의 레이크 수신기에서 제거할 수 없었던 자기 간섭(Auto Interference)을 제거하는 새로운 레이크 수신기를 제안하였다. 성능 분석 결과, 제안된 레이크 수신기는 자기 간섭 제거로 인한 성능개선 효과를 얻을 수 있었으며 또한, 어레이 안테나를 채용하여 다중접속간섭으로 인한 성능열화를 보상할 수 있었다.

Sharing Studies between IMT Base Stations and FSS Earth Station in C-band (C-대역에서 IMT 기지국과 FSS 지구국간의 주파수 공유 연구)

  • ITU has considered the 3,400$\sim$4,200 MHz band, which is allocated worldwide on a primary basis to the FSS, as a candidate band for future development of IMT system. In this band, this paper presents the results of the sharing studies performed between FSS and IMT systems through the theoretical and simulation analysis on the interference from multiple IMT base stations into a receiving FSS earth station considering the interference mitigation techniques such as antenna tilt angle and 3 sectors on the IMT base station. By using the long-term and short-term interference threshold, the coordination areas for the FSS earth station are provided to share frequency in 3,400$\sim$4,200 MHz band between FSS earth station and multiple IMT base stations in future.

  • In this paper, we propose and analyze the two way ranging (TWR) positioning technique using ultra wideband (UWB) for indoor environment. We employed IEEE 802.15.3a channel as a simulation environment and used to time of arrival (TOA) algorithm. UWB technology in a low transmission power the less the effect of interfering with the existing system, the frequency can be shared so that it can improve the spectral efficiency. And, positioning technique based on UWB with a very narrow pulse width has high accuracy in indoor environment. From the simulation results, it is analyzed the probability of error and positioning performance for channel effects and confirmed usefulness of the proposed scheme.

  • Recently, as the demands for radio spectrum are growing and the number of cell sites is increasing rapidly, the spectrum engineering plays an important role in estimating frequency sharing and reuse. The radio propagation analysis is essential in the basic technology of radio network design such as deciding the service area and selecting the position of the base station. But, domestic propagation environment in which mountainous region is occupying over 70% of our terrain does not allow us to apply foreign studies which are deduced in highly different environments. Therefore, we need to have our propagation analysis system derived from our own terrain condition. In this paper, we propose the propagation prediction model which issuitable toour propagation environment, and also usinghis model, we implement thesimulator based on GIS(Geographic Information System)which can be applied to both spectrum engineering and radio propagation analysis. We showed that this simulator can well be applied to frequency assignment, propagation network design as well as other radio services. Considering the results of our analysis, we could guarantee the standard deviation of error between the measured data and predicted results as 5 to 7 dB.

  • This paper discusses multiple access control aspects for a wireless extension of high-speed asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) networks. One challenging requirement is that mobile systems convey of diverse types of information including voice, computer data, facsimile, and video data that have different quality of service constraints. Basically, a centralized control scheme for a coordinated multiple access is required in order to efficiently accommodate multimedia traffic on wireless links. The proposed scheme dynamically scheduling the mobile terminal, which has data to transfer according to the service, types at base station. In this scheme, the scheduling algorithm is performed on the basis of traffic descriptors and QoS parameters, which required in the connection set up phase. As a consequence, the transmission scheduling is very flexible and can account for the different traffic rate and delay constraints that emerge from voice and data integration. The simulation result shows that the proposed scheme has better performance over other scheduling algorithms.
