This Research suggest that key features of lighting simulation and intuitive theaterical design method can unify single system. It can produce the virtual scene of stage which is able to predict the number of lighting box and design budget. the final goal of this research is unifying lighting and stage design into on single system.

The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of space design of Isamu Noguchi's works barred on the stage sets and environmental designs. From the end of 19th century, space which was begun to be studied about in architects has continued to be researched by not only scientists but artists. Recently, space Is expressed in free and new forms due to diversity of societies and advancement of technology, As a result, space has become an essential part in art and is used in the titles of many art exhibitions. This study scrutinizes space in Isamu Noguchi's works. No other 20th century artist has as clear and progressive space conception as Noguchi's. His notion of modern art was modified through space in the tradition of cubism and Russian Constructivism and Bauhaus. Combined with his experience in the traditional Japanese houses and gardens, these influences led toward a broadened conception of sculpture as the creation of living space. These modernist's characteristics are found in his early expression of stage sets for choreographer Martha Graham, and they would lead to a wide range of design activities, from gardens and interiors to fountains and furniture. Isamu Noguchi had created a body of work that crossed the boundary between fine and applied art as a sculptor, and as an environmental designer.

For decades, we have filled our theme parks, shopping malls, a streets and etc. with complementary or competing medias. These spaces have remedied newspapers, magazines, radio, TV and film or have been the object for remediation. Because there has been no remediation in traditional theatrical stage design, many problems come along with the design, which makes audiences hard to feel the sense of presence. It's time to have systematic research to find a way out for the solution of traditional theatrical stage design. This study suggests the solutions for remediation of traditional theatrical stage design, so we are going to research with laying emphasis on the cooperative works between the fields of theatrical stage design and the Visual Effects par that forms extensive and diverse portions. The proposal for remediation of traditional theatrical stage design with practical use of Visual Effects will create economical higher value-added through the systematization of close and cooperative work between the fields of Visual Effects and theatrical stage design. In addition, the systematization of the cooperation of these two parts will make another communicative paradigm that audiences have never been able to experience before in traditional theatrical stage design.

The stage space in theatre for the performance of a play requires two aspects of the physical space for a play and the image as the background or the theme of a play. This research focuses on the scene design that creates the background or the theme of a play and communicates it to the audience. The scene design is composed of various design elements of space and objects as the properties of a play. Design elements and the objects are the design languages in various form; plane, three-dimensional, multi-dimensional form. These design language have the significant meaning as a sign like human language. The scene design is completed with rhetorical expression for communication in theatre. This research defines the category of meaning that design elements of scene design can create and the rhetorical expression of the scene design language. King Lear directed by Robert G. Anderson was analyzed with the category of design elements as a sign and the pattern of the rhetorical expression. The scene design for a play is completed effectively by the rhetorical expression of design elements as the design language for communication with the audience in theatre.

This research focuses on the scene design that creates the background or the theme of a play and communicates theme of a play to the audience. A scene design of a theatre has meta-linguistic aspects, which is the image or mood as the theme of a play. The scene design is composed of various design elements of space and objects as the properties of a play. Design elements and the objects are the design languages in various form; plane, three-dimensional, multi-dimensional form. These design languages have the significant meanings as signs like human language. The play works chooses the rhetorical expression to arouse the audience's sympathy. The scene design is completed with rhetorical expression for communication in theatre too. This research defines the category of meanings that design elements of scene design can create and the rhetorical expression of the scene design language. King Lear directed by Robert G. The relationship between light and space is fundamental In an opera stage design. In contemporary stage design, light, color and space themselves became one of tile most important elements to express and symbolize the content of the opera. This was very different compared to the primitive and medieval opera stage design in the past. The designer tried to represent the same periodical background of the opera with exact replica of the buildings as well as costumes. In comtemporary performance art, light became one the most important aspects in design. Max Keller is one of the living pioneers in stage lighting design. This thesis that is based on his lighting experiments and projects attempts to examine how contemporary stage design and light are applied and what kind of characteristics they have. One of the Wagner's opera, "Tristan und Isolde" was selected to be further analyzed. Three different "Tristan und Isolde" opera stage designs were carefully studied in terms of how three designs are differently constructed for specific same contents of the opera. This sort of comparison study is crucial when there is a strict parameter that is the opera itself. It was found that three opera stages have very different stage designs and unique ways of expressing the opera flow and contents. However, in some parts, very similar lightings were used. This sort of multi-disciplinary study can be helpful to re-think the interior environment by applying light as a fundamental medium.

최근 인공지능을 활용하여 예술 작품에 몰입할 수 있도록 무대 효과를 디자인하는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 무대 효과 중에서 무대 배경은 공연의 분위기를 형성한다. 춤의 장르별로 무대 배경에 사용되는 이미지를 생성하기 위해 소셜 미디어 기반 무대 배경 생성 시스템이 있다. 하지만 같은 장르 춤은 동일한 무대 배경 이미지가 제공되는 문제가 있다. 같은 장르의 춤이지만 노래의 분위기를 반영하여 차별된 무대 배경 이미지를 제공하는 것이 필요하다. 본 논문은 노래 가사의 감정을 활용하여 Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)을 통해 각 노래의 분위기를 고려한 무대 배경 이미지를 생성하는 방법을 제안한다. GAN은 노래에 포함된 단락별 감정 단어를 추출하여 스타일을 생성하도록 학습된다. 학습된 GAN은 노래 가사에 포함된 감정 단어를 활용하여 곡의 분위기를 반영한 무대 배경 이미지를 생성한다. 노래 가사를 고려하여 무대 배경 이미지를 생성함으로써 곡의 분위기가 고려된 무대 배경 이미지 생성이 가능하다.

The main purpose of (the) performing arts is to efficiently communicate the themes and meanings which performances contain under limited time and place to the audience. Stage design should visually express play writer's scripts and director's interpretations of works, amid limitations. Although it is mostly designed metaphorically, in many cases, it is used only as a tool describing the background of performances but fails to effectively convey the true message of scenes to spectators. On the other hand, Bob Crowley has been recognized for his own design presentation skills to win 'Best Scenic Design of a Musical' of Tony Awards for six times and still exerts great influence on the musical and performing arts fields as a set designer. This study analyzes his reading of scripts and visual metaphor expressions, focusing on the musical, 'Aida' where the skills are mostly notable. To that end, we studied the concept of stage arts and theory of visual metaphoric expression to derive the features of his own technique in visual metaphor. Then, the features were applied to each scene of 'Aida' to see how they are displayed on stage. The result shows that Bob Crowley not only describes the background on stage, but also visualizes characters' personality and emotions in scenes. Such method of his expression is a proof to enhanced performance level by maximizing the atmosphere. Considering that a stage design should be based on the capacity of a designer to reinterpret the space with renewed viewpoints, visual metaphoric expression can serve as an effective tool to deliver clear messages to the audience under limited time and space, which is open to various methods of expressions.
