Study on control system design for washer fluid heating system (워셔액 가열시스템의 제어시스템 설계에 관한 연구)

  • This paper presents the design of a control system for improving performance of a washer fluid heating system (WFHS) which is capable of removing frost, ice, snow and/or other debris from windshield. First, for the WFHS, a modeling process is described, and the extraction of characteristic parameters of the model are made by experimental studies. Design variables that affect on performance of the WFHS are also presented. Secondly, a control system is proposed for improving heating performance of the WFHS, and its performance is verified through experiments. The key feature of the proposed control system is to regulate the current of a booster converter input to the WFHS up to the target value that is set to guarantee heating performance. Target current is calculated by using initial temperature value and employing the mathematical model derived in the paper. Computer simulation and experimental results show that the proposed control system can perform heating operations in a way to satisfy per-determined target performance of the WFHS.

  • In this paper, we consider to apply of 2-DOF (Degree of Freedom) PID controller at D.C servo motor system. Many control system use I-PD , PID control system. but the position control system have difficulty in controling variable load and changing parameter. We propose neural network 2-DOF PID control system having feature for removal disturbrances and tracking function in the target value point. The back propagation algorithm of neural network used for tuning the 2-DOF parameter(${\alpha}$,${\beta}$,${\gamma}$,η). We investigate the 2-DOF PID control system in the position control system and verify the effectiveness of proposal method through the result of computer simulation.

Development and Performance of Cementitious Materials for Fire Resistance of Tunnel (터널 내화용 시멘트계 재료의 개발 및 성능 평가)

  • This study aims at evaluation of the fire resistance performance of cementitious materials for fire protection of tunnel. For this purpose, the research procedure was divided into three parts. First, base mix proportion with different material type were determined by fire test. Second, the fire test of cementitious materials for fire resistance were performed on base mix proportions to evaluated their performance. Third, the performance of cementitious materials for fire resistance compare to the target value and existing commercial products. If the performance of developed cemetitious materials for fire resistance were satisfied the target value, this studies were stopped. But, this research return to first process if the performance of cementitious materials for fire resistance are not satisfied the target value. As a result of this study, the spalling did not happen for develop and existing commercial product. Also, developed cementitious materials for fire resistance are shown with excellent compressive strength, flexural strength, and bond strength, because it used a height density aggregate. And developed cementitious materials has sufficient resistance for fire.

Performance Estimation and Test of Protype Pulse Tube Cryopump (맥동관형 크라이오펌프 시제품 성능예측과 평가)

  • The cryopump of the pulse tube type has been developed successfully, and manufacturing of a prototype pump is finished under leading of Woosung Vacuum. The target pumping speed of the prototype pump is above 3,600 L/s for nitrogen with the intake port of 14 inches I.D (16 inches O.D). For designing optimally the pump structure including the charcoal array, thermal shield, and baffle, the pumping speed was simulated for various configurations through Monte Carlo method. Pumping performances of the protype cryopump manufactured on the basis of optimal design were conformed experimentally with a standard test system and procedures. The measured $N_2$ pumping speed of the prototype cryopump was 4,600 L/s which agreed well with simulated one and exceeded the target value.

  • Nearest neighbor algorithms classify an unseen input instance by selecting similar cases and use the discovered membership to make predictions about the unknown features of the input instance. The usefulness of the nearest neighbor algorithms have been demonstrated sufficiently in many real-world domains. In nearest neighbor algorithms, it is an important issue to assign proper weights to the attributes. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new method which can automatically assigns to each attribute a weight of its importance with respect to the target attribute. The method has been implemented as a computer program and its effectiveness has been tested on a number of machine learning databases publicly available.

A Convergence Analysis of Normalized Sign Algorithm for Adaptive Noise Canceler (적응잡음제거기를 위한 정규 부호화 알고리즘의 수렴특성 분석)

  • Coefficients of the adaptive filter are misadjusted by primary signals which are uncorrelated with reference signals of the adaptive filter. In this paper, the normalized sign algorithm is analyzed and compared with the NLMS algorithm by the steady state performance and the transient characteristics when target signals are included in primary signals. The excess mean square error of the NLMS algorithm is proportional to the power of target signals. That of normalized sign algorithm is proportional to the square root of the target signal power. However, the convergence speed of the normalized sign algorithm is slower than that of NLMS algorithm. In this paper, it is shown that theoretical analysis of the steady state performance and the transient characteristics are well consisted with the results of computer simulation.

  • 액체금속로의 안전성과 경제성을 향상시키는데 중요한 요소로 부각된 면진설계기술을 개발하기 위하여 고감쇠 면진베어링의 축소모델을 제작하고, 성능확인을 위한 다양한 시험을 실시하였다. 면진베어링의 성능을 나타내는 전단강성, 감쇠특성, 항복하중특성값, 전단변형능력 등에 대한 시험결과 전단강성은 목표값에 비하여 작았지만 감쇠값과 전단변형은 목표값에 근접하였다. 이를 이용한 면진 원자로건물의 지진응답을 분석한 결과 면진베어링은 건물의 지진응답 가속도를 대폭 줄여주는 것으로 나타났다.

Inelastic Analysis of Steel Frame Structures with Viscoelastic Damper (점탄성 감쇠기가 설치된 철골조 건물의 비탄성 해석)

  • In this study the effect and applicability of viscoelastic dampers on the seismic reinforcement of steel framed structures are investigated in the context of the performance based design approach. The effect of the damper on dissipating the input seismic energy was investigated with a single degree of freedom system. For analysis models a five-story steel frame subjected to gravity load, a ten-story and twenty-story structure subjected to gravity and wind load were designed. The code-specified design spectrums were constructed for each soil type and performance objective, and artificial ground excitation records to be used in the nonlinear time history analysis were generated based on the design spectrums. Inter-story drift was adopted as the primary performance criterion. According to the analysis results, all model structures turned out to satisfy the performance level for most of the soil conditions except for the soft soil(operational level). It was also found that the seismic performance could be greatly enhanced, and the structures were led to behave elastically by installing viscoelastic dampers on appropriate locations.

  • In this study, the performance validation of a PAO-AIR heat exchanger developed for the ECS(Environmental Control System) of a UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) has been carried out. The performance goals of a PAO-AIR heat exchanger were established by the system schematic analysis. And a heat exchanger to be met the ECS performance was developed by a detailed design and a precision manufacture. Using the developed heat exchanger, the experiment about pressure loss and effectiveness, overall heat transfer coefficient to prove the developed PAO-AIR heat exchanger performance in various conditions as well as a design point of heat exchanger was performed and the experimental results were analyzed. As the experimental results, the performance and characteristic of a PAO-AIR heat exchanger developed for the ECS of a UAV were analyzed and the development suitability was proved.

Application of Performance Based Mixture Design (PBMD) for High Strength Concrete (고강도 콘크리트의 성능기반형 배합설계방법)

  • This paper is a study about application of recently proposed Performance Based Mixture Design (PBMD) for design of high strength concrete (HSC) to obtain HSC mix proportion that satisfies required performances. The PBMD method which uses Satisfaction curve based on a Bayesian method is a performance oriented concrete mix proportion design procedure easily applicable to any condition and environment for a possible replacement to the current prescriptive design standards. Based on extensive experimental results obtained for various materials and performance parameters of HSC, the application feasibility of the developed PBMD procedure for HSC has been verified. Also, the proposed PBMD procedure has been used to perform application examples to obtain desired target performances of HSC with optimum concrete mixture proportions using locally available materials, local environmental conditions, and available concrete production technologies. The validity and precision of HSC mix proportion design obtained using the PBMD method is verified with the experimental and ACI presented results to check the feasibility for actual design usage.
