기술논단- 전자저널을 통한 신속한 전자도서관 구현

  • 현재 도서관에서 구축할 수 있는 가장 효율적인 서비스 방안으로서는 꼭 필요한 저널과 데이터베이스는 웹으로 구현 가능한 것을 선택하는 것이다. 또한 이용자들의 최신 정보 요구를 충족시키기 위해 이메일로 목차서비스를 실시하는 것이다. 이 글에서는 현재 사용화된 웹 데이터베이스의 현황을 살펴보고 이를 이용하여 구축할 수 있는 전자도서관 모형을 소개하고자 한다.

  • Library catalogs are as a tool in order to satisfy the information needs of user but currently user's need is more complex and more diverse. Therefore, currently library catalogs do not meet the user's need and have some limitations. One of the ways for solving this problem will provide for the table of contents about monography. However recently, table of contents about books is builded individual library itself so the redundancy issue is pointed to waste of the cost of materials and human resources. Therefore, it should establish a standardized table of contents information DB and each of the related institutions can collaborate and share ways to be provided to take advantage of the table of contents. In order to this, central institutions should be provided a standardized way of building DB, provided conversion program, and mutual sharing principles associated with the building of table of contents DB.

JContents:E-Mail을 활용한 학술 잡지 목차 서비스 시스템

  • 학술 연구 활동에 있어서 관련 정보의 수집은 중요한 연구 활동 중의 하나이다. 특히 첨단 과학기술 분야의 연구에 있어서 최신의 학술 잡지에 게재된 논문에 대한 정보들은 더욱 중요성을 같는다. 본 논문에서는 한국과학기술원에서 교수, 학생, 연구원에게 학술 잡지 정보를 신속하고 편리하게 제공하기 위해 개발된 학술 잡지 목차 서비스 시스템 (Journal Current Contents Service System, JContents)을 소개하기로 한다. JContents 시스템은 클라이언트/서버 구조를 바탕으로 GUI(Graphic User Interface) 환경을 제공한다. 특히 캠퍼스 정보 시스템과 연계하여 사용자가 원하는 정보를 E-Mail을 통해서 도서관에서 자료 입수 즉시 사용자에게 보낼 수 있도록 하여, 학술 정보를 신속하고 편리하게 제공함으로써 연구 생산성을 높이는데 기여한다.

  • 인터넷과 웹 기술의 발전은 전자도서관의 목록정보나 목차정보서비스에서 원문정보서비스로의 변화를 주도하고 있다. 그러나 대학에서 생산하는 학문적 가치가 높은 학술지들은 웹을 통해 원문으로 서비스되고 있지만 상이한 OPAC 시스템과 목록을 위한 통일된 메타데이터의 부재로 원문정보를 공유$.$활용하기가 매우 힘든 실정이다. 본 고에서는 각 대학에서 생산하고 구축된 원문정보를 메타데이터 기반의 목록시스템을 이용하여 모든 대학의 학술지 논문정보를 검색하여 공유할 수 있는 분담목록시스템모형을 제시함으로써 대학 학술지 이용의 효율적 방안을 모색 해보고자 한다.

  • 최근에는 정보통신부에서 주관하는 '2000년도 지식정보연계 활용체제구축사업' 중 '과학기술종합정보시스템 구축' 사업의 일환으로 연구보고서 데이터베이스를 구축하였다. 이 사업은 연구보고서과제목록, 본문, 목차 및 참고문헌에 대한 데이터베이스 구축을 주요내용으로 하였으며 한국과학기술정보연구원의 과학기술종합정보시스템을 통하여 서비스하고 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 인터넷전화 품질평가를 위한 국내 동향에 대하여 기술하고, BcN영상전화 서비스에 대한 SLA 품질지표 및 품질기준을 국내외 동향 및 기준표준화에 근거하여 마련하고 이를 검증하기 위한 품질측정 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 통해서 영상전화 서비스의 SLA 품질기준이 조기에 마련되어 국내 통신사업자들의 이용약관에 반영되기를 기대한다. 따라서 본 논문의 목차는 서론, SLA 개요, 영상전화 서비스의 품질지표 및 기준, 품질지표별 측정방법 및 시험측정 결과에 대하여 기술하였다.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop standard curriculum content for the Introduction to Library and Information Science course. We intended to suggest both a syllabus and a textbook for this course. To this end, we collected and analyzed syllabi and textbooks that are used in LIS departments domestically and abroad. As a result, the major course content we found necessary to include in Introduction to Library and Information Science were as follows: 1. knowledge and information society, 2. information and sources of information, 3. the LIS academic system, 4. information professionals, 5. library history, 6. library and information center organization and management, 7. library types and their functions, 8. collection development, 9. information resources organization, 10. information services, 11. digital libraries, 12. information retrieval and databases 13. library cooperation, 14. library policy and information ethics, etc. The table of contents of a final textbook has been proposed including these elements.

A Design and Implemention of an Article Union Cataloging System Based on Metadata (메타데이터 기반 학술지 논문 종합 목록 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • As the rapid develoment of internet and information technology, the traditional library has been altered to the digital content service based on the world wide web. This paper proposes a design and implementation of an Artcle Union Catalog System(AUCS) based on metadata. The metadata set for the AUCS consists of twelve Dublin Core elements and one holdings element. The qualifiers of the proposed metadata elements are also represented. The AUCS system has an online cooperated cataloging system using the web interface or the 239.50 protocol, an union cataloging management system, and an integrated information retrieved system service. The integrated search and retrieval service of the AUCS displays not only the summary and detailed bibliographic information, but also the abstract, the table of contents, the digital content, and the copylfax service.

  • The purpose of this study was to perform research on the development of core course textbooks in the LIS field. The process of textbook development proposed in this study can also be a useful reference for developing the textbooks for other, non-core courses. The textbook development procedure used was as follows; 1) investigating and analyzing the main textbooks of LIS core courses domestically and abroad, 2) deriving optimal curriculum content from job analysis results, 3) gathering comment and feedback from professors teaching core courses, 4) proposing a final, three-tiered table of contents for an optimal textbook. The textbook table of contents proposed as a result of this research relates to the core subjects of: Introduction to Library and Information Science, Information Services, Library Management, Information Organization, Information Retrieval, and Library Fieldwork. We suggested chapter and section levels for all subjects, and list all of the details that should be dealt with in each section; instructors are then able to select from these options at their discretion.

A Content Analysis of Research Data Management Training Programs at the University Libraries in North America: Focusing on Data Literacy Competencies (북미 대학도서관 연구데이터 관리 교육 프로그램 내용 분석: 데이터 리터러시 세부 역량을 중심으로)

  • This study aimed to analyze the content of Records Data Management (RDM) training programs provided by 51 out of 121 university libraries in North America that implemented RDM services, and to provide implications from the results. For the content analysis, 317 titles of classroom training programs and 42 headings at the highest level from the tables of content of online tutorials were collected and coded based on 12 data literacy competencies identified from previous studies. Among classroom training programs, those regarding data processing and analysis competency were offered the most. The highest number of the libraries provided classroom training programs in relation to data management and organization competency. The third most classroom training programs dealt with data visualization and representation competency. However, each of the remaining 9 competencies was covered by only a few classroom training programs, and this implied that classroom training programs focused on the particular data literacy competencies. There were five university libraries that developed and provided their own online tutorials. The analysis of the headings showed that the competencies of data preservation, ethics and data citation, and data management and organization were mainly covered and the difference existed in the competencies stressed by the classroom training programs. For effective RDM training program, it is necessary to understand and support the education of data literacy competencies that researchers need to draw research results, in addition to competencies that university librarians traditionally have taught and emphasized. It is also needed to develop educational resources that support continuing education for the librarians involved in RDM services.
