The purpose of this paper is to investigate the current and overall situation of cataloging ecosystem focusing on the interrelationship between traditional library and social cataloging site cataloging. For this, an extensive research and analysis was conducted concerning comparative analysis on cataloging rules of the library and social cataloging. As a result, not only the similarity and difference but also interrelationship between library and social cataloging was analyzed in detail. In addition, the characteristics of the cataloging rules were analyzed by the stage of cataloging in the library and the social cataloging environment. This study provides implications for mutual understanding and cooperation between library and social cataloging. The result may have significant meaning in prospecting cataloging ecosystem and planning further study on facilitating interaction and leading knowledge organization development.

The purpose of this study is to find changing trends in roles and qualifications of catalogers by comparing and analyzing job advertisements from 1990 to 1997 and to suggest a direction of cataloging education based upon the trends. During the past years, the development of the information technology has influenced upon the duties of the catalogers and the requirements of the positions. Based upon the knowledg of traditional tools for classifying and cataloging, increasing needs for computer skills, networks, supervisiory skills, managerial skills, communication skills, research activities, and ability to adapt the changing environment were required for the catalogers. If s time to prepare a new cataloging education that produce excellent catalogers for the future.

The goal of this paper is mainly to review and summarize the theory of cataloging. This artical reviews the theortical background of cataloging. First, the objectives and function of the library catalog was analyzed. Second, According to this methodology was researched the Cutter's theory of 'convenience of the public' on the cataloging, Osborn's 'the Crisis of Cataloging' (legalist theory of cataloging, perfectionism theory bibliographic theory and pragmatic theory) and Lubetzky's the theory of 'Cataloging Rules and Principles' and the last Houten' s 'In the Iron Age of Cataloging' theory.

우리 협회에서 간행된 한국목록규칙 3판(KCR3)은 국내의 기술목록수준을 국제적인 수준으로 한 단계 진전시키는 중요한 계기가 되었다고 자부합니다. 그 근거로 국제서지기술법(ISBD)을 수용하여 서지기술단위저록방식을 규정함으로써, 기술만으로 완전한 저록을 구성할 수 있게 되었으며, 특히 우리의 언어나 사고과정에 기초한 한국적 특수성을 목록규칙에 반영할 수 있었다는 점을 들 수 있습니다. 그러나 종래 KCR3은 단행본 중심의 목록규칙이라는 한계가 있었고, 따라서 연속간행물과 기타 비도서자료에 대한 기술규칙의 제정이 요구되어 왔습니다. 각종 비도서잘(비책자자료)와 네트워크자원이 대량으로 간행되는 시점에서 이들 다양한 유형의 자료를 목록에서 수용할 수 있는 통합된 목록규칙이 요구되고 있는 실정임에도 불구하고, 규칙제정에 소요되는 시간과 인력을 고려하여 우선 일차로 연속간행물용 목록규칙(안)을 내어 놓게 된 것입니다. 이 목록규칙(안)은 그 동안 2년여에 걸쳐 우리 협회 목록위원회를 중심으로 회의와 토록과정을 거친 것으로 도서관계에 종사하시는 사서 여러분의 의견을 수용하고자 하오니, 애정과 관심으로 검토해 주시고 좋은 의견을 개진해 주시길 간곡히 부탁드립니다. 목록규칙은 바로 우리 도서관인 모두가 다듬고 만들어 가야 할 책무가 있기 때문입니다. 어떤 형태의 의견이나 권고안, 수정안이라도 좋으니 여러분의 많은 관심과 협조를 기대합니다.

This study seeks to replace PaRIS Principles and find directions of revising KCR4 by analyzing the international Cataloging Principles 2009(ICP 2009) established in the environment of Machine Readable Cataloging. ICP 2009 was reflected in cataloging rules such as RDA and ISBD 2010 as the minimal principles for uniformity in establishing each nation's cataloging rules. In contrary, KCR4 needs to be revised because it has never been changed after 2003, and has only description rules without any rules for the choice and forms of access points. Therefore, this study aims to grasp requirements that should be reflected in KCR4 through analyzing ICP 2009. In first step, it is to grasp the features of ICP 2009 by comparing PaRIS Principle and ICP 2009 and to compare KCR4 in aspects of ICP 2009. The detailed elements for comparison between ICP 2009 and KCR4 are scope, general principles, entitles, attributes, and relationships, objectives and functions of the catalogue, bibliographic description, access points, foundations for search capabilities as the contents of ICP 2009. As a result, this study could give some directions of KCR4 in the future. First, ISBD 2010 and conceptual models should be reflected in KCR4 in description. Second, it should regulate the authority access points in KCR4 based on ICP 2009. Third, it will describe essential access points of work and expression attributes in bibliographic records and authority records to find works and expression. This study will contribute to guide the national cataloging rules.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the distinctiveness and problem areas in cataloging rules of printed music. In this study, therefore, the characteristics, kinds, and cataloging rules related to a printed music are examined first as the backgrounds. Then the sources of information, title and general material designation, musical representation statement, publication.distribution.etc., physical description, notes, etc. in ISBD(PM), Chapter 5 Music of AACR2R 2002 Revision 2004 Update, and Chapter 5 Music of KCR4 are analyzed. And also printed music parts in Bibliographic Data of KORMARC and MARC21 are analyzed. Finally, the special issues and some problems to be considered in cataloging of printed music in KCR4 are presented.

This paper studied the process of changes of the heading which is access point of the catalog in the cataloging Rules. The first described change of the concept of heading, and described change of headings in the Korean Cataloging Rules and Anglo-American Cataloging Rules And then described heading; in the online environment and future of cataloging rules. The concept of the main entry has lost any meaningful purpose in today's online catalog environment despite a multiplicity of definition. To bring cataloging rules up-to-date, Headings of KCR, AhCR2 Chapter 21, the MARC format and KORMARC format need to be revised The revision of this cataloging rules should be based on Hypertext and Hypermedia. A Continued empirical research would be most welcome, and should be incorporated into future cataloging rules.

한국목록규칙 제4판 초안의 (지도자료)를 위한 목록 규칙을 분석하고 그 내용을 AACR2R(1998), NCR, 그리고 ISBD에서의 해당 목록 규칙들과 비교·분석한 뒤, 더욱 효율적인 지도자료 조직을 위한 한국목록규칙 제4판 초안의 수정안들을 제시하였다.

MARC를 바탕으로 시작된 OPAC은 오늘날 목록의 기능을 극대화시킴으로써 AACR2와 MARC같은 현행의 목록법에 변화의 필요성을 야기시킴과 동시에 미래의 목록법을 위한 새로운 패턴을 제시해주고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 주요 목록법 학자들이 주장한 AACR3, MARC III, HYPER-MARC 등을 중심으로 미래 목록법의 개정동향을 고찰하였다.

정보통신 기술의 발달은 도서관에 많은 영향을 끼치고 있으며 도서관의 많은 업무중에서 정보조직 또는 정보처리로 지칭되는 분류 및 목록 업무는 계속해서 변화하고 있다. 그러므로 목록 업무를 담당하는 목록 사서의 역할이 달라지고 목록사서로서 적합한 자격요건도 변하는 것이 마땅하며 그러한 자격을 갖출 수 있도록 목록 교육도 변해야만다. 본 연구는 1996년부터 11999년도 5월까지 American Libraries의 사서직 구인광고에서 목록사서직의 지원자격을 필수적인 요건과 바람직한 요건으로 나누어 내용 분석을 하였다. 또한 가장 중요하게 비중을 두고 있는 요건과 새롭게 강조되고 있는 요건을 목록 교육의 내용 및 방향과 연관하여 제시하였다.
