To evaluate the hydraulic resistance behind bodies in a large scale grid numerical model, a drag stress term which is formulated by the drag force is introduced in the depth-integrated Reynolds equations. And also, the applicability and problems of this model are discussed through various numerical experiments where the analytical solutions exist. In the case of a single body, the error range of velocity difference between analytical and numerical solutions is within $\pm$10% and the wake width behind the body shows a good agreement with the analytical solution. When the drag coefficient and the eddy viscosity are precisely decided, the numerical solutions behind a row of bodies will be efficiently used in real situations.

The complete, fully-elliptic Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations have been solved using a two-layer model, in the $\kappa-\varepsilon$ turbulence model, for the axisymmetric body. Numerically generated boundary-fitted coordinate system and the finite analytic methods are used to solve the governing equations. Calculations are started after the middle body with given inlet conditions. The velocities and the turbulent quantities at the inlet section are specified by solving the boundary layer equations or by standard flat-plate boundary profiles. The effects of the inlet conditions on the solution are investigated.

The purpose of this study was to identify children's mental models of the free-fall objects. This study examined children's prediction and observation about the free-fall of objects. The experimental procedure involved conducting interviews with first-, third-, fifth-, and seventh grade students. The interview had three phases: Prediction, explanation, and observation. During the prediction phase, the object pairs which varied on the dimensions of size, weight, shape, color were presented to students. The students were asked to predict what would happen if the objects were dropped simultaneously. During the explanation phase, the students were asked to explain how they arrived at their answers. During the observation phase, the students observed the free-fall of the object pairs and were asked to describe what they saw. The results showed as follows. (1) Fifth-and seventh grade students made more correct predictions than first- and third grade students. (2) The conflict problems, object pairs involving the dimensions of size and weight, were the most difficult for students to accurately predict. (3) With regard to observations, there was a non-significant effect of grade, indicating equivalence in the number of correct observations made by first-, third-, fifth-, and seventh graders. (4) The conflict problems were the most difficult for students to correctly observe. (5) First- and third grade students showed a significant difference between prediction and observation about the free-fall of objects. However. no difference was found in the fifth- and seventh grade students.

Quite many papers about moving objects database (MOD) have been Published. Most of them are concerning of improving efficiency of updating policy, but none of them talks about verification of system's requirements. No matter how efficient updating policy is employed, a system designer still has to verify if the MOD satisfies user's requirement at the beginning of system lifestyle. For example, if a MOD serves n moving objects, then the designer must verity if it can update information for n moving objects and provide new information to moving objects within specified time limit. For the purpose of requirement analysis of MODs, we build a Petri net model for MOD using Design/CPN, and then we show how to verify whether the MOD satisfies user's requirements by simulation. The contribution of this paper is providing a simulation model for requirement analysis of MOD for the first time. The model is expansion of our previous fuzzy-timing Petri net model. The distance-based updating policy, and distributed database management system are reflected in this model and system analysis for moving objects is considered. It is built in Design/CPN so that the simulation can be automatically performed. The application of our model is not limited to requirement analysis, it is useful to study other MOD design issues, such as the trade-offs between update cost and information accuracy, and between the tim interval needed for updating database and MOD system resources, etc.

This paper presents a method to design a centralized repetitive controller that is robust to variations in the multiple system parameters. The uncertain parameters are specified probabilistically by their probability distribution functions. Instead of working with the distribution functions directly, the centralized repetitive controller is designed from a set of models that are generated from the specified probability functions. With this multiple-model design approach, any number of uncertain parameters that follow any type of distribution functions can be treated. Furthermore, the controller is derived by minimizing a frequency-domain based cost function that produces monotonic convergence of the tracking error as a function of repetition number. Numerical illustrations show how the proposed multiple-model design method produces a repetitive controller that is significantly more robust than an optimal repetitive controller designed from a single nominal model of the multiple system.

Underwater object detection method adopting electrical resistivity technique was proposed recently, and the need of advanced data processing algorithm development counteracting various marine environmental conditions was required. In this paper, we present an improved water tank experiment system and its operation results, which can provide efficient test and verification. The main features of the system are as follows: 1) All the processes enabling real time process for not only simultaneous gathering of object images but also the electrical field measurement and visualization are carried out at 5 Hz refresh rates. 2) Data acquisition and processing for two detection lines are performed in real time to distinguish the moving direction of a target object. 3) Playback and retest functions for the saved data are equipped. 4) Through the monitoring screen, the movement of the target object and the measurement status of two detection lines can be intuitively identified. We confirmed that the enhanced physical modeling system works properly and facilitates efficient experiments.
For real-time recognizing of model objects in remote position a new Neural Networks algorithm is proposed. The proposed neural networks technique is the real time computation methods through the inter-node diffusion. In the networks, a node corresponds to a state in the quantized input space. Each node is composed of a processing unit and fixed weights from its neighbor nodes as well as its input terminal. The most reliable algorithm derived for real time recognition of objects, is a dynamic programming based algorithm based on sequence matching techniques that would process the data as it arrives and could therefore provide continuously updated neighbor information estimates. Through several simulation experiments, real time reconstruction of the nonlinear image information is processed. 1-D LIPN hardware has been composed and various experiments with static and dynamic signals have been implemented.

This paper proposed a method of feature parameter extraction for shape information analysis of moving object. In the 2-D plane, moving object are extracted by the difference method. Feature parameters of moving object are chosen area, perimeter, a/p ratio, vertex, x/y ratio. We changed brightness variation from the range of 600Lux to the 1400Lux and then determined Permissible Error range of feature parameter due to the brightness variation. So as to verify the validity of proposed method, experiment are performed with a toy car and it's results showed that decision error was less than 6%.

In this paper, I'd like to make a suggestion for boundary line detect algorithm which is used 3-D image processing system in order to track moving object. Through this study, more than anything else, difference image method was adopted to detect moving object in input image. To detect moving object, I made use of detect windows constructed by 4's predictive areas and object area for the purpose of reducing processing time and its size was determined by the size of moving object and prediction parameter directed center position. And also, tracking camera was movable toward the direction of X, Y by DC motor. As a conclusion of the study proposed algorithm, I found out the following results that tracking error was less than 6% of total moving object size and maximum tracking time 2 seconds by toy-car simulation.
