The torque ripple that is generated by the irregularity of magnetic flux density on the BLDC motor in a satellite actuator degrades the satellite attitude control performance. In this paper, the performance analysis of permanent magnet configurations (shape, arrangement, and air gap) is simulated by the Finite Element Method (FEM) to find the appropriate combination of the configuration. The configuration is chosen by comparing between rectangular and arc-shaped permanent magnets and single-arrangement and dual-arrangement magnets. The performance is verified by a prototype.

This paper is about electromagnetic vibration source in outer rotor type of BLDC motors. Experiments are carried out with three pole-slot combinations which are 6 slots, 12 slots, and 24 slots with 4 poles rotor. According to results, vibration sources separate into electromagnetic and mechanical factors. Using the finite element method (FEM), It is analyed that vibration characteristics of electromagnetic source in each type. This paper shows electromagnetic sensitivity to vibration, and introduces necessary point in lower vibration motors. Also rotor balance is important to prevent uneven distribution of magnetic flux between rotor and stator.

This paper did the study target for modeling, characteristics analysis and harmonic reduce with the detent torque of a 4 phase and 5 phase hybrid type step motor. For this, it was attempted to derive the mathematical modeling and used the permeance method for flux field analysis. Through this analysis result, this paper acquired the detent torque of this model. To compare the characteristics analysis of phase difference with two motors structure it have obtained to derive the operating detent torque with this model. Here, 5 phase motor has known the harmonic reduce of detail torque compare with 4 phase motor. Also, that has showed to improved the step response. The analysis result has represent the effect that a fundamental component of the permeance distribution produces the average torque and that harmonic components produce the ripple torque.
In recent years, there has been a renewed interest in the BLDC motor as a research subject. In this paper we inspect sources of the torque ripple, which is one of the elements causing performance depreciation of BLDC motors. Based on the inspected sources of the torque ripple, feedforward compensation methods are proposed to reduce the size of torque ripple. The effectiveness of the proposed methods is verified with experiments.

DC motors are used extensively on shipboard, including as the ship's winch operating motor, owing to their simple speed control and excellent output torque characteristics. Moreover, they were used as propulsion motors in the early days of electric propulsion ships. However, mechanical rectifiers, such as brushes, used in DC motors have certain disadvantages. Hence, brushless DC (BLDC) motors are increasingly being used instead. While the electrical characteristics of both types of motors are similar, BLDC motors employ electronic rectifying devices, which use semiconductor elements, instead of mechanical rectifying devices. The inverter system for driving conventional BLDC motors uses a two-phase excitation method so that the waveform of the back electromotive force becomes trapezoidal. This causes harmonics and torque ripple in the phase current switching period in which the winding wire through which the current flows is changed. Researchers have studied and presented various methods to reduce the harmonics and torque ripple. This study applies a cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter, which implements a proportional-integral speed current controller algorithm in the driving circuit of the BLDC motor for electric propulsion ships using a power analysis program. The simulation results of the modeled BLDC motor show that the driving method of the proposed BLDC motor improves the voltage waveform of the input side of the motor and remarkably reduces the harmonics and torque ripple compared with the conventional driving method.
