  • The mechanical unbalance of the rotor in motors generate vibrations and make its shortened their life, therefore, it is important that search for a cause of the vibration in the point of economics. In this paper, to reduce the vibration we will analyse the unbalance magnetic pull in induction motor. Namely, the electromagnetically generated forces, the airgap flux density distribution in a single phase induction motor is calculated by analytical and numerical method.

  • This paper presents the fluid characteristics simulation and design guide line of the fluid path inside the rotor, which has an high-Tc superconducting field winding using Ag sheathed BSCCO-2223. The analysis was conducted with an equivalent model of the high-Tc superconducting synchronous motor under transition condition that occurs during the load varying from 250watt to 500watt. The results show that the designed fluid circulation system performs adequately in maintaining the superconducting state in the winding.

  • This paper presents the ac losses simulation in the rotor having an high-Tc superconducting field winding using Ag sheathed Bi-2223. The analysis was conducted with an equivalent model of the high-Tc superconducting motor under transition condition during the load that varies from 250watt to 500watt. The simulation results show that the transient state lasts for about 2 seconds, and the ac losses decreased exponentially from the initial value above 2 watts.

  • High speed PM machines are being developed as motor/generators for gas-turbine generator sets in smaller power sizes, and as motors for number of applications including gas compressors, machine tools and turbo molecular pumps. Due to the high peripheral speed of the rotor and the relatively high conductivity of the magnets used, rotor eddy current loss can be substantial. This paper deals with the calculation of rotor eddy-current losse in permanent magnet(PM) high speed motor using the analysis of harmonics.

  • A stator of ultrasonic motor of high torque with a new configuration is proposed. The stator designed newly is two sided vibrator consisting of toothed metal disk with piezoelectric ceramic ring bonded on both face of disk. which generates a flexural traveling wave along the circumference of disk. it produces a large vibrating force and amplitude because the vibrator is sandwiched by two piezoelectric ring. The finite element method was used to compute the vibration mode of the stator with a outer diameter of 48mm. A 6th vibration mode was chosen as operation mode with resonance frequency about 72kHz. According to the design, the prototype stator was fabricated and its performance was measured.

  • In this paper, axial type double rotor brushless DC motor is designed where the rotor is located at the both sides of stator. The rotor uses rare-earth magnets of 16 poles and the stator has 12 coils. The genetic algorithm is used to optimize the efficiency of the designed motor. The characteristics of the design parameters are estimated by varying them for the maximum efficiency.

  • In this paper, a new type of electric wheelbarrow is proposed and developed. The developed electric wheelbarrow is equipped with an attitude reference system(ARS) sensor, which consists of 3-axis acceleration sensor and 2-axis Gyro sensor so that it can estimate pitch angle and roll angle. When an operator tilts the wheelbarrow up and down, the pitch angle is detected. The sign of the pitch angle is interpreted as the operator's intention for moving the wheelbarrow forward or backward and the controller drives the wheel of the wheelbarrow with the velocity according to the magnitude of the detected pitch angle. A cargo box of the wheelbarrow is designed to rotate and is controlled to maintain level always, so an operator can handle the electric wheelbarrow easily and safely. The wheelbarrow consists of an in-wheel motor, a DC motor, motor drives, an ARS sensor considering economical use in industrial field. Three experiments are performed to verify the feasibility and stability of the electric wheelbarrow.

  • This paper presents the torque control algorithm of a permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) for an electric scooter. The volume of the in-wheel type motor is restricted due to the complicated mechanical structure in wheel of an electric scooter, so the hall sensors instead of resolver and encoder for the rotor position sensors are installed. In this paper, the rotor speed and position are estimated from the speed estimator for vector control of a PMSM with hall sensors. The motor starts to rotate at standstill in BLDC mode with 120 degree conduction. After start up, the operating mode is changed to the vector control with maximum torque per ampere(MTPA) operation at low speeds and flux weakening control at high speeds. The performance of the proposed control algorithm is verified through the experiment in the electric scooter.

  • This paper proposes the modeling of sensorless drive system using 120 degree conduction method for IPM (Interior Permanent Magnet) BLDC motors and analyzes characteristics of the terminal voltage that is used to detect the rotor position. This paper shows that the ZCP (Zero-Crossing Point) of the measured terminal voltage used In sensorless control is ahead of that of the back EMF of IPM motors because they have a saliency. This research also analyzes that the amount of position detection error is related to saliency, rotor speed, and load condition. In addition, this paper shows that motors have bigger advance angles than we have expected because the ZCP of terminal voltage precedes the actual ZCP, and under operation conditions such as heavy load and high speed it may generate abnormal currents that flow toward opposite direction after phase current becomes zero.
