Applying the Identical Content to Various Types of Mobile Devices Using the Image Map Method (이미지 맵 방법을 이용한 다양한 모바일 단말기에서의 동일한 컨텐츠 적용)

  • The advancement of ubiquitous networks facilitates and increases access to the Internet via mobile devices, which offers the advantages of enhanced mobility and accessibility. While Mobile Internet is largely free of temporal and spatial restrictions, producing content for mobile websites is a challenging work due to the existence of multiple device types and markup languages. This paper proposes a technique that makes use of image maps to improve the visual consistency of mobile web content displayed on a variety of mobile devices. The proposed image map method captures several objects comprising the webpage into a single image, and provides the image in Mobile Web services. Mobile devices employing the proposed method can reorganize webpages with multiple objects more easily and obtain the visually identical content on their screen.

  • Following the increase in the supply of smartphones and the increase in the use of wireless Internet, the online shopping environment is also changing into mobile shopping. However, the domestic mobile shopping services fall short of people's expectations compared to desktop Internet shopping malls. These are mainly due to the restricted screen size and inconvenient data entry of mobile devices, the slow Internet speed, and other restrictive conditions. Accordingly, in this paper, the usability of three main domestic mobile shopping malls was evaluated using a heuristic evaluation method. The factors that must be considered when producing a mobile website, the consideration for the mobile users, and the main functions of a shopping mall, were considered to define an evaluation form. The results of the evaluation were then analyzed to propose the problems of mobile shopping malls and the directions for their improvement.

Design and Implementation of Automatic Script Generator for Mobile Database Applications (모바일 데이터베이스 응용을 위한 스크립트 자동 생성기의 설계 및 구현)

  • The demand for mobile database applications has been rapidly increased with the growth of mobile users and the development of wireless Internet technology. But the productivity of mobile applications is low and it takes much time to manage the versions of applications because the user interface and query processing code of applications is manually written. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of the MobileGen that is a script generator for mobile database applications. The generated scripts enhance mobile application productivity by providing the code for operating with a database and processing user queries. Each script provides a corresponding deck that is a set of related cards as user interface. The MobileGen supports easy version management of generated applications and the MobileGen itself because it is based on the templates that are frameworks for scripts. Moreover, the MobileGen provides not only the interested entity but also the entities that are related directly and indirectly with the interested entity unlike the most commercial mobile script generators.

  • 기존의 다양한 무선 인터넷 플랫폼이 WIPI라는 무선 인터넷 플랫폼으로 통합되면서 플랫폼 간의 호환성과 이식성을 제공하여 다양하고 풍부한 컨텐츠들이 개발되고 있다. 인터넷 상의 콘텐츠 표현의 주요 표기 언어인 XML을 파싱하고 뷰잉 하기 위한 XML 처리기 역시 이제, 각종 모바일 단말에 내장되어야 할 필수적인 소프트웨어 중의 하나가 되었다. 본 논문에서는 WIPI 기반의 모바일 단맡로의 내장을 위한 효율적 XML 처리기가 설계 구현된다. XML 처리기는 HTTP를 기반으로 하여 서버와 XML 데이터를 교환할 수 있으며, 모바일 단말에 적합하도록 CPU 부하를 덜어주고, 메모리 사용량을 줄이면서, 크기가 작은 Pull 모드 XML 파서를 핵심 컴포넌트로 가지고 있다. 또한, XML 처리기를 사용하여 인터넷을 통해 XML 문서를 전승 받아, 모바일 단말에서 볼 수 있는 간단한 전자책을 개발하였다.

Software-based Quality Measurement of Mobile VoIP Services (소프트웨어 기반 모바일 VoIP 서비스 품질 측정)

  • The mobile internet telephony service rapidly grows according to the extending deployment of smartphones. Unlike telephony service over a conventional public switched telephone network (PSTN) or mobile network, internet telephony service cannot guarantee its service quality, which can be severer in a wireless environment. Therefore, a more strict and systematic quality management is required for successful settlement and popularization of mobile internet telephony service. Existing quality management scheme using a specific measurement equipment cannot measure all the time so that it performs late management. In order to overcome the problem, this paper develops a software that can be equipped on a user terminal and measures the service quality all the time. By using the developed software, all-time and user-activating service quality monitoring can be supported.

모바일 핫스팟: 차량 내 WiFi 접속 기술 연구 동향

  • 본 고에서는 차량 내에서 WiFi 기기를 사용하여 사용자들에게 인터넷 접속 서비스를 제공하는 구조인 모바일 핫스팟 (Mobile Hotspot)에 대한 연구 동향을 기술한다. 모바일 핫스팟과 관련된 연구 주제로는 1) 차량이 이동하더라도 인터넷 서비스를 끊임 없이 제공하는 이동성 관리 기술, 2) 사용자들의 향상된 서비스 품질을 보장하는 기술, 그리고 3) 모바일 핫스팟의 성능을 심도있게 분석하는 연구 등이 있다. 본 고에서는 이와 같은 연구 주제로 진행된 연구 결과를 정리하고 향후 연구 주제를 살펴본다.
