Modularization of Automotive Product Architecture: Evidence from Passenger Car (자동차 아키텍처의 모듈화: 승용차 사례를 중심으로)

  • How has the passenger car's architecture evolved? In the meantime, the discussions on the car architecture have been mixed, i.e., integral, modular, and the coexistence of two types. Therefore, in this study, we aim to develop two indices can measure the degree of modularization of passenger car and its all modules using global trade data. By applying the indices to the framework of architecture positioning that reflects the hierarchical structure of a product, we examined that the degree of modularization of the passenger car architecture has been enhanced. Meanwhile, the degree of modularization differs across the modules that make up the car. Specifically, we observed the higher degree of modularization in front-end, cockpit and seat modules. Whereas, we found that body module had a relatively low degree of modularization. In particular, we observed that the platform of passenger car has notably modularized due to carmakers' efforts to achieve model diversification and reduction of cost and period in new product development at the same time. Interestingly, we showed that three modules, i.e., engine, chassis (relatively less modularized), and transmission (relatively highly modularized), had a different level of modularization, even if they commonly make up the platform. We contribute to the suggestion for analytical approaches that examine the degree of modularization and its progress longitudinally. In addition, we propose the necessity of decomposition of a system into elements in a study of product architecture, considering the possibly distinctive progress of modularization across the elements.

  • Recently, thanks to the development of artificial intelligence technologies such as image recognition, research on unmanned aerial vehicles is being actively conducted. In particular, related research is increasing in the field of military drones, which costs a lot to foster professional pilot personnel, and one of them is the study of an intelligent framework for autonomous mission performance of reconnaissance drones. In this study, we tried to design an intelligent framework for unmanned aerial vehicles using the methodology of designing an intelligent framework for service robots. For the autonomous mission performance of unmanned aerial vehicles, the intelligent framework and unmanned aerial vehicle module must be smoothly linked. However, it was difficult to provide interworking for drones using periodic message protocols with model-based interfaces of intelligent frameworks for existing service robots. First, the message model lacked expressive power for periodic message protocols, followed by the problem that interoperability of asynchronous data exchange methods of periodic message protocols and intelligent frameworks was not provided. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a message model extension method for message periodic description to secure the model's expressive power for the periodic message model, and proposes periodic and asynchronous data exchange methods using the extended model to provide interoperability of different data exchange methods.

A Design and Implementation of Framework for Interworking between Heterogeneous Vehicle Networks for Intelligent Transportation System (지능형 교통시스템을 위한 이기종 차량 네트워크의 연동 프레임워크 설계 및 구현)

  • There are many kinds of networks in vehicle for their purposes. In-vehicle networks, however, are not unified to single network. The networks are composed of several local networks because of communication speed, cost and efficiency. Because the complexity of network design for communication increases, local networks need a framework for interworking between heterogeneous networks. In this paper, a framework interworking between in-vehicle networks for ITS(Intelligent Transportation System) is proposed and implemented. The proposed framework consists of a compatible protocol, message conversion module, message transceiver module and message analysis module. The results obtained by implementation show that the framework efficiently supports the communication of information between heterogeneous in-vehicle networks.

Low-Cost Hologram Module for Optical Pickup by Adjusting Photodiode Package (포토 다이오드 조정방식을 이용한 광 픽업용 저가 홀로그램 모듈)

  • We proposed a new and cost-effective method fer assembling holographic pickup modules without any high resolution vision system. Assembling was accomplished by adjusting photodiode package only, leading to a low cost, holographic pickup module. Focus and tracking error signals were simply determined by comparing spot sizes and by using the 3 beam method, respectively, based on four-sectional holographic optical elements. In experiment, we assembled a hologram module and estimated performance of the proposed method fur a holographic pickup module used in compact disc system.

A Design and Implementation of XML Document storing and retrieval Framework based on a variant k-ary complete tree and RDF Metadata (가변 K진 완전트리와 RDF메타정보에 기반한 XML문서 저장 및 검색 프레임워크의 설계 및 구현)

  • This paper studied and proposed a XML document storing-and-retrieval framework based on a variant k-ary complete tree and a RDF metadata, which is composed of an effective storing module to store xml documents, a retrieving module to retrieve xml documents, and a connecting module to make this system intemperate in the web environment. In this storing module, DTD independent DOM based decomposition model using a method of addressing unique ill using a variant k-ary complete tree is adopted and is implemented. Query Processing Module includes a XPath query process and a content based retrieval function using word index for content information. To retrieve more exactly data, a structural retrieval using RDF metadata is adopted and implemented. In order to implement effectively XML document storing and retrieval system in the web environment, API using XML-RPC, API using HTTP's GET, PUT, POST and API using SOAP have been adopted and implemented.

  • 비주얼 RAD 도구는 사용자 프래그램의 개발 기간을 단축시키기 위한 통합 개발 환경이다. 이와 같은 개발 환경은 사용자 프로그램의 생산성 향상을 위하여 텍스트와 윈도 기반의 프로그래밍 개발 환경을 동시에 지원하고 있다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 비주얼 프로그래밍을 지원하는 기술 주도형 RAD 도구에 대응하여 국내 기술력을 확보하기 위한 클라이어트/서버 프로그램 생성 기술에 관한 연구의 일부이다. 특히, 우리는 인터넷 환경에서 사용 가능한 자바 애플릿 및 애플리케이션을 빠르게 개발할 수 있는 자바 통합 개발 환경(OpenSoft)를 개발하고 있다. 본 논문은 OpenSoft에서 기능 컴포넌트들간의 상호연동을 지원하기 위한 Two-Way Access 프레임워크를 제안했다. 이 프레임워크는 OpenSoft의 사용자 편의성을 제공하는 메커니즘을 가지고 있으며 디자인 패턴을 이용하여 설계하였기 때문에 모듈의 재사용성과 확장성이 뛰어난 특징을 가지고 있다.

  • 사물인터넷이 발전함에 따라 사용자에게 여러 서비스를 제공하기 위한 사물인터넷 플랫폼이 활발하게 개발되고 있다. 그러나 각각의 플랫폼은 독자적인 환경에서 개발되고 있어 상호운용성에 어려움이 있다. 특히, 이기종 사물인터넷 플랫폼이 리소스 보호를 위해 동일한 속성기반 접근제어를 사용하더라도 속성을 표현하는 표현법이 상이하여 유효한 속성을 소유하고 있음에도 타 플랫폼의 리소스에 접근할 수 없는 문제가 있다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 속성기반 접근제어를 활용하는 이기종 사물인터넷플랫폼 간의 서로 다른 속성 표현법을 이해하여 상호운용할 수 있는 프레임워크를 제안한다. 본 프레임워크는 자가적응 모듈을 통해 동일한 속성이더라도 표현법의 차이로 발생하는 상호운용의 문제를 해결하여 이기종 플랫폼 간의 리소스 접근이 가능하도록 한다.

DSP-Based Micro-Modem for Underwater Acoustic Communications (DSP 기반 초소형 수중 음향통신 모뎀)

  • Recently, the need for various underwater application systems targeting efficient resource exploration and aquatic ecosystem monitoring is rapidly increasing in littoral sea and inland waters. In this paper, we focus on the research and development of digital module of acoustic micro modem which can be used for underwater mobile communication systems and underwater sensor network systems. Specifically, a digital module of acoustic modem embedding digital signal processor is designed and implemented. On top of the developed hardware platform, physical layer frame generation and recovery and channel coding algorithms are mounted and tested in a water tank and a pond to verify its functionality and performance. According to experimental results, less than 1 percent of total computational power is consumed in the processing of frame control and convolutional code with the data rate of 1 kbps. Thus, the performance of micro modem could be improved by loading efficient baseband algorithms into the processor while maintaining the implemented hardware.

Intelligent Monitoring System for Solitary Senior Citizens with Vision-Based Security Architecture (영상보안 구조 기반의 지능형 독거노인 모니터링 시스템)

  • With the increasing of aging population, a lot of researches on monitoring systems for solitary senior citizens are under study. In general, a monitoring system provides a monitoring service by computing the information of vision, sensors, and measurement values on a server. Design considering data security is essential because a risk of data leakage exists in the structure of the system employing the server. In this paper, we propose a intelligent monitoring system for solitary senior citizens with vision-based security architecture. The proposed system protects privacy by ensuring high security through an architecture that blocks communication between a camera module and a server by employing an edge AI module. The edge AI module was designed with Verilog HDL and verified by implementing on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). We tested our proposed system on 5,144 frame data and demonstrated that a dangerous detection signal is generated correctly when human motion is not detected for a certain period.

  • 센서 네트워크 운영체제는 다양한 실험과 작업을 위해 다양한 기능을 수행해야한다. 이를 위해 센서 운영체제는 필요에 따라 응용프로그램을 설치하여 사용하고 이를 필요에 따라 수정하는 것을 지원한다. 이에 따라 센서 운영체제는 다양한 응용프로그램을 사용할 수 있도록 범용화 되고 고정된다. 또한 운영 체제 와 응용프로그램의 분리에 따라 오버헤드가 발생하게 된다. 따라서 센서 운영체제가 설치된 운영체제에 따라 커널의 구조를 최적화하고 응용프로그램수행에 따른 오버헤드를 최적화하는 작업이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 커널을 모듈화하고 필요에 따라 선택적으로 커널을 재구성 할 수 있는 프레임워크를 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템은 모듈화 된 커널 자원을 효율적으로 관리하며, 수행하는 응용 프로그램의 요구 기능에 따라 커널의 구성을 바꿀 수 있어 최적화된 커널을 유지할 수 있다.
