Frequency Analysis of Adaptive Behavior of NEAT based Control for Snake Modular Robot (뱀형 모듈라 로봇을 위한 NEAT 기반 제어의 적응성에 대한 주파수 분석)

  • Modular snake-like robots are robust for failure and have flexible locomotions for obstacle environment than of walking robot. This requires an adaptation capability which is obtained from a learning approach, but has not been analysed as well. In order to investigate the property of adaptation of locomotion for different terrains, NEAT controllers are trained for a flat terrain and tested for obstacle terrains. The input and output characteristics of the adaptation for the neural network controller are analyzed for different terrains in frequency domain.

  • Feature-oriented software product line engineering is to develop various products by developing product line core assets in terms of features and composing those features. However, the developed product may not behave correctly if the feature interaction problem has not be properly taken into account during the feature composition. This paper proposes techniques for identifying and modularizing undesirable feature interactions effectively. The scientific calculator product line is used for evaluating the applicability of the proposed method.

A MNN(Modular Neural Network) for Robot Endeffector Recognition (로봇 Endeffector 인식을 위한 모듈라 신경회로망)

  • This paper describes a medular neural network(MNN) for a vision system which tracks a given object using a sequence of images from a camera unit. The MNN is used to precisely recognize the given robot endeffector and to minize the processing time. Since the robot endeffector can be viewed in many different shapes in 3-D space, a MNN structure, which contains a set of feedforwared neural networks, co be more attractive in recognizing the given object. Each single neural network learns the endeffector with a cluster of training patterns. The training patterns for a neural network share the similar charateristics so that they can be easily trained. The trained MNN is less sensitive to noise and it shows the better performance in recognizing the endeffector. The recognition rate of MNN is enhanced by 14% over the single neural network. A vision system with the MNN can precisely recognize the endeffector and place it at the center of a display for a remote operator.

  • The brain of the human is the best model for the artificial intelligence and is studied by many natural, medical scientists and engineers. In the engineering department, the brain model becomes a main subject in the area of development of a system that can represent and think like human. In this paper, we approach and define the function of the brain biologically and especially, make a model for the function of cerebral cortex, known as a part that performs behavior inference and decision for sensitive information from the thalamus. Therefore, we try to make a model for the transfer process of the brain. The brain takes the sensory information from sensory organ, proceeds behavior inference and decision and finally, commands behavior to the motor nerves. We use the modular neural network in this model. finally, we would like to design the intelligent system that can sense, recognize, think and decide like the brain by learning the information process in the brain with the modular neural network.

  • 이동통신사의 다양한 플랫폼은 콘텐츠 개발회사의 다중개발에 의한 경제적 손실을 발생시키고 경쟁력약화로 이어져 다양한 콘텐츠 개발에 집중하지 못하고 있는 문제점을 안고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위한 방안으로 기존의 무선인터넷 플랫폼 환경을 WIPI(Wireless Internet Platform (or Interoperability) 라는 모바일 표준 플랫폼으로 표준화하게 되었다. WIPI 표준 플랫폼은 다운로드에 의한 DLL(Dynamic Linking Library)을 지원함에 따라 무선망을 통해 동적으로 API (Application Programming Interface)를 추가/갱신하는 기능을 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 메모리 사용을 최소화 및 최적화하여 성능을 개선한 콘텐츠 뷰어를 개발하고, 이를 통해 동적 API 추가 및 갱신 모듈을 구현함으로써 효율적인 WIPI 콘텐츠 제작 환경을 제공하고자 한다.

  • A new method to locate modular fixtures using an optimization technique is proposed. The optimal fixture arrangement is derived to minimize the elastic deformation of a workpiece. That is, a fixture arrangement is regarded better if it minimized the elastic deformation of the workpiece while fixing a workpart of course. In this approach, the workpiece is projected into two dimensional domain to simplify the 3-dimensional fixture arrangement problem into 2-dimensional one. Thus the problem is reduced to find the optimal positions of one horizontal clamp and three locators which minimize the total deformation of the workpiece and the design variables are the location of the contact points between the boundary of the workpiece and the 4-fixels. The Genetic Algorithm is used for the optimization by mapping each design variables to a gene of a chromosome. The fitness value is the total strain energy of the workpiece calculated by the fin element analysis.

A Study on the Modular System in Contemporary Furniture (현대가구에 나타난 모듈라 시스템에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to apply the modular furniture system, which has been developed actively in western Europe and America since 1970's, to Korean contemporary furniture having converted into western style gradually. The factors requiring the modular furniture system in today's residential environment are as follows; 1. Population increase and urbanization 2. Development of industrial technology 3. Improvement of living condition and change of life style. As these factors increase the problem of diminishing space, multiple functional modular furniture concept has become a solution. Reviewing the current scene of the western modular furniture system, it is classified into modular seating system, mopular wall system, modular commode system and modular storage system. Korean wardrobe, which is am mixed style of traditional and contemporary furniture, should change to a closet eventually because of the grand size and unpractical use of space. Since most Korean family, however, have wardrobes already, it will be necessary to have a turning period to systemized the closet space in Korean residential interior. For the turning period, application of the modular wall system would be one answer to substitute the wardrobe.

  • We investigate a probabilistic public key cryptosystem proposed by Paillier. It is based on the discrete logarithmic function and the messages are calculated from the modular product of two those functions, one of which has a fixed value depending on a given public key. The improvement is achieved by a good choice for the public key so that it is possible to get efficient schemes without losing the onewayness and semantic security. Also we suggest the method to get the public key for our schemes.

  • New modular Lateral Information Propagation Networks(LIPN) has been designed. The LIPN has shown to be useful for interpolation of information[3]. The problem is the fact that only the small number of nodes can be implemented in a IC chip with the circuit VLSI technology. The proposed modular architecture is for enlarging the neural network through inter module connections. For such inter module connections, the host(computer or logic) mediates the exchange of information among modules. Also border nodes in each module have capacitors for temporarily retaining the information from outer modules. Simulation of interpolation with the designed LIPN has been done through various experiments.

  • The objective of this paper is to present a methodology for design of the FMS by using a new modeling tool which is called SE&TPN(Safe Extended & Timed Petri Net). A FMS, which consists of various machine groups, may produce machine parts in different physical dimensions and lot size. The approach involves the SE&TPN modeling by Petri-nets. The proposed algorithm can handle determining of firing count vector by incidence matrix and adjustment of conflict using the marking of SE&TPN. The SE&TPN is defined as nets that can have at most one token in one place and can have elements such as permissive arcs and inhibitor arcs in addition to elements. The SE&TPN with permissive arcs and inhibitor arcs are intuitively direct approach to increase the modeling power of the SE&TPN. Finally, this paper is to develop a modulation to optimize the system problems of FMS using SE&TPN which describes exactly features of Petri Nets.
