A Study on the Moderating Effect of Nationality of Advertising Models for Masstige Brands: Based on Construal Level Theory (매스티지 브랜드 광고모델 국적의 조절효과에 대한 연구: 해석수준이론을 중심으로)

  • This study investigated the effects of brand awareness and perceived price fairness on the purchase intention of masstige brands and the moderating effect of country of advertising (Korea or China) for the Chinese tourists visiting Korea. Along with the luxury image and the reasonable price range of masstige brands, the effect of Korean models matching with the country of masstige brand and Chinese models for Chinese visitors was examined based on the construal level theory. To test the hypotheses, a 2 (brand awareness H/L)×2 (perceived price fairness)×2 (country of model) factorial design was employed. As a result, brand awareness and price fairness perception were found to have positive effects on the purchase intention of masstige brands, and the moderating effect of the country of advertising models was also significant. With Korean models, the effects of brand awareness and price fairness perception on the purchase intention of masstige brands were higher than with Chinese models. This study sheds light on the fact that for Chinese tourists, Korean advertising models are more effective even with the specific signal like price when they perceive psychological distance.

  • As brand has increasingly influenced on marketing activities, local government, agricultural enterprises, and individual farmhouses autonomously develop and promote their own brands in the field of agrifood. Among developed brands, however, it could be possible for products with having no competitiveness and continuous control to lapse in the marketing. This study aimed to try develop to brand equity model in order for agri-food brands to evaluate and complement in the agricultural company. For doing this, ERRC were administered to interview the brands experts to discuss rice. The results of the analyses indicated that the areas with attribute weight of assets may consider bonding with customers for enhancing the value in the brand equity.

Consumer Characteristics Related with Choice of Eco-Friendly Functional Food (생태 친화적 기능성식품 선택과 관련된 소비자 특성 분석)

  • Consumers' growing interest in the environment has recently led them to recognize the importance of their dietary life and sustainable consumption. Thus, there is an increasing necessity to identify consumers' response on the relationship between the consumption of functional food and their interest in helping environment. This research was conducted to analyze consumers' behaviors as related to Spirulina, an eco-friendly functional food brand, by subdividing markets according to consumers' food lifestyle. The results showed that consumers were categorized into 3 types (high involvement in diet, pursuit of safety in diet, and pursuit of convenience in diet), and there was a significant difference in the consumption behaviors of the functional food according to the 3 types. Their positive attitude towards functional food and interest in the environment led to changes of their actual purchasing behavior by increased purchase of Spirulina. Also, consumers who displayed high environmental involvement showed a more favorable attitude towards functional food. Therefore, to expand the market of eco-friendly functional food, it is necessary to subdivide the market and target the consumers who are highly involved with protecting the environment, and to execute marketing strategies for eco-friendly products, in order to increase the consumers' awareness about eco-friendly functional food.
