A Study on the Design of Mathematics Education Program for Foreign Students Majoring in Natural Science and Engineering at University in Korea (이공계 대학 유학생을 위한 수학교육 프로그램 설계 및 적용)

  • In this study, mathematics education program was developed for the foreign students who entered the science and engineering college of Korea in order to improve their basic competency and to prevent dropouts. It is applied to 5 Chinese students, 4 male students and 1 female student. Three students are majoring in engineering college and two students are majoring in natural science college. Before applying the mathematics education program to foreign students, most students did not draw a graph of the 'irrational function' and the 'exponential function' and did not understand the concept of the 'limit' at all. However, after applying the mathematics program, all foreign students were able to draw graphs of the various function and the limit values were calculated accurately. Through the results of this study, the researcher proposes some of the following. When developing mathematics education programs for foreign students, it is very important to develop teaching materials suitable for their level. Textbook developers need to select and organize contents that are essential for learning in university mathematics and to present mathematical concepts and examples considering the Korean language level of foreign students. Moreover, it will be necessary to try to present mathematical terms commonly used in Korea in their native language or English.

The Change in Beginning Science Teachers' Reflective Practice in their Teaching Performance through Collaborative Mentoring (협력적 멘토링을 통한 초임 중등과학교사의 교수실행에서 나타나는 반성적 실천의 변화)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the change in the classes of beginning science teachers through the collaborative mentoring program that induce reflective thinking practice. Participants in this study were three mentor-teachers, two teachers in doctor's or master's course, one university professor, and three mentee-teachers who have less than four years of teaching experience. We collected data such as video recordings of the mentee-teachers' classroom teaching and transcription, lesson plans, recording of one-on-one mentoring and transcription, mentor and mentee's journals, and RTOP classroom teaching observation reports. RTOP was used for the analysis of classroom teaching and mentee-teachers' recognition and changes in their classes were found out through journals and one-on-one mentoring interview materials. According to mentee-teachers' recognition and changes in their classes during the mentoring program, they themselves recognized their teacher-centered teaching style, misconception, and lack of content knowledge. Furthermore, there were changes in the mentee-teachers' classroom teaching through their reflective practice and improvement. As a result of this study, the interactions with mentor-teachers through collaborative mentoring program stimulated mentee-teacher's reflections on their teaching. Therefore, these reflections led to their reflective practice that showed progressive changes in their teaching behavioral activities. The extent of these changes varied according to the mentee-teachers' individual disposition toward reflection and the issue of whether mentee-teachers' reflective practice was in accordance with priorities in motivational ZDP or not. Also based on the results of this study, the teachers' reflection was not all accompanied by reflective practice even if the beginning science teachers made some partial changes in reflective practice through reflection. It means that it is hard to lead reflective practice for mentee-teachers through mentoring in a short period of time. Therefore, we consider that a systematic and long-term mentoring program is necessary for beginning science teachers.

Analysis of Young Children's Peer Conflict Process (유아 간 발생하는 또래갈등과정 분석)

  • The purposes of this study were (1) to investigate the relationship of conflict components, and (2) to investigate interaction of conflict participants. Subjects were ninety-four 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds recruited from eleven child care centers in Seoul, Kyonggi and Incheon province. Interaction process between these young children were recorded by a video camera, and the scenes were transcribed for analysis of peer conflict situations which occurred between two children. Statistical methods used for data analysis were frequencies, percentiles, means, standard deviations, Chi-square. First conflict components are interrelated. There was a significant difference conflict resolution strategies according to conflict issue, and a significant difference conflict outcomes according to conflict resolution strategies. Also conflict outcomes were related to conflict emotion expression. Second, the stratigies interaction of conflict participants were significant and conflict emotion expression of conflict participants were significant.

An Analysis on Mentor Teacher's Difficulties during Collaborative Mentoring Program (협력적 멘토링 과정에서 나타난 멘토의 어려움 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine mentor teachers' difficulties during their collaborative mentoring process to improve beginning science teachers' teaching practice. Participants were fourteen science teachers. This study collected questionnaires for mentor teachers' perception of the mentoring program, questionnaires for mentor teachers' efficacy, a record and transcript of interview, a record and transcript of mentoring conversation, and mentor teachers' journals for the study. The result showed that mentor teachers were having difficulties with mentee teachers when they have different major or work in different levels of school, and they found it hard to set aside time for mentoring due to heavy amount of school work. Also, they had low self-confidence experiencing a lack of expertise as a mentor teacher, and some mentor teachers were having difficulties in building a rapport with mentee teachers. Mentor teachers had difficulties as well when they have different point of view with mentee teachers about mentoring.

Analysis on Preschoolers' Mean Length of Utterance and Type-Token Ratio by their Sex and Play Situation Type (유아의 성별과 놀이상황 유형별 평균발화길이와 어휘다양도)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences of preschoolers' utterance features by their gender and play situation type. For this purpose, a total of 40 5-year-old children participated in this study. Dyad were participated in each play session during 10 minutes. The play session was videotaped and the videotaped data were transcribed by CBS(2014). The collected data were analyzed by using a independent t-test and paired t-test. The main results are as follows. First, girls' MLU-e, MLU-w, MLU-m were longer than that of boys in a familiar play situation. Second, preschoolers' MLU-w was longer in an unfamiliar play situation than in familiar ones and preschoolers' type-token ratio were higher in an unfamiliar play situation than in familiar ones. Implications for the importance of preschoolers' spontaneous speech are discussed.

The Analysis of the Level of the Argumentation of Small Group According to the Students' Characteristics (학생 특성에 따른 소그룹 논증 수준 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate how the argumentations were affected by the students' characteristics in the small groups. The level of self-concept and science related attitude were examined to the eleventh grade high school students in Daejeon city, and the twelve students were participated for this study. The participants were divided into homogeneous groups and heterogeneous groups. The argumentations under the condition of the interpretations about the experimental results in each small group were recorded by VCR. The recorded data were transcribed, then argumentation levels from transcripts in each small group were analyzed through Mitchell's parameters of argumentation. The results of this study were that the group which had higher level of both self-concept and science related attitudes achieved higher level of argumentation. Therefore, it is necessary for teachers to induce students to ask questions and present activities appropriately in order for those who have low self concept and science related attitudes to participate in argumentation.

  • 본 연구에서는 한글 타자 행동에서 자극-반응 합치도 효과가 나타나는 지를 알아보았다. 타자에 생소한 남녀 피험자 40명을 자극-반응 합치도가 높은 조건과 낮은 조건의 자판으로 20명씩 나누어 배치하였고 반응 시간을 측정하였다. 한글 타자 행동에서 자극-반응 합치도 효과는 세로 모음이 있는 철자에서 반응 개시 시간에 나타났다. 이는 한글 전사 타자 행동에서 글자 자극부호를 운동 부호로 전환하는 단계에서 자극-반응 합치도 효과가 영향을 미치고 있음을 나타내는 것이다.

  • The BTV core associated transcriptase activity, assayed by acid precipitable counts, was reduced to an undetectable level after treat the core with .$100{\mu}{\M}$ CDDP. When the RNA transcripts prepared from the CDDP treated BTV core were analysed on agaroseurea gel, it was observed that the band intensity of the large size RNA was reduced while the band intensity of the small size RNA was enhanced. Northern blot analysis showed that much of the small size RNAs appeared to be prematurely terminated transcripts. These results suggest that CDDP adduction to the template RNA blocks chain elongation process of the virion bound transcriptase that is ultimately responsible for the inactivation of BTV infectivity.

자랑스러운 안전인 - 예방이 곧 안전확보의 지름길 - 한국화재보험협회 이복영 인천지부장

  • 1970년대 초 잇따라 발생한 대연각호텔 화재, 서울시민회관 화재 등 대형 화재사고는 전사회적으로 국가 차원의 화재 안전 정책이 시행될 필요가 있다는 공감대를 형성시켰다. 단순 화재사고로 끝났을 수도 있었던 사고가 소방시설 관련법 미비, 소방인력 부족 등으로 인해 대형 참사로 번졌기 때문이다. 이런 판단에 따라 화재로부터 국민의 생명과 재산을 보호하기 위한 활동을 전개해 나가는 단체가 필요하다는 목소리가 힘을 얻었다. 따라서 보험사가 방재전문기관을 설립해 운영하는 외국의 사례를 모델로 1973년에 한국화재보험협회가 만들어졌다. 이후 한국화재보험협회는 전국 주요 거점에 인프라를 구축해 나가면서 활동에 박차를 가했다. 그 가운데 하나가 바로 인천이다. 인천의 경우 관내 공단시설이 노후화돼 있고, 다중이용시설이 밀집해 있어 어느 지역보다 철저한 화재예방관리가 필요한 상황이었기 때문이다. 이런 악조건 속에서도 인천지부에서는 2010년 기준으로 관내 안전점검 대상 건물에서 단 한 건의 사망사고도 발생하지 않았다. 2009년에 6명 사망한 것에 비하면 괄목할 만한 성과를 낸 것이다. 이런 결실을 낼 수 있었던 것에는 인천지부의 수장인 이복영 지부장의 역할이 상당했다. 그가 어떤 활동을 전개해 나갔기에 빈틈없는 안전관리가 전개됐는지 살펴봤다.

안전현장 스케치 - 안전의 생활화로 진정한 선진안전 문화 구현, 안전하고 건강한 사업장 (주)화인

  • (주)화인은 전남 광양 포스코 제철소 내에서 크레인, 굴삭기, 휠로더, 무인로더 및 각종 설비를 이용하여 Slag를 처리하고 있는 전문 외주사로, 대한산업안전협회 전남지회가 안전우수사업장으로 적극 추천할 정도로 안전에 대해서는 큰 모범을 보이고 있는 회사다. 이곳은 업종 특성상 폭발, 화재 위험이 매우 크다. 하지만 113명의 임직원 모두가 안전을 최우선으로 하면서 설립(2010년 7월 1일) 이후부터 무사고를 기록, 지난해 10월 안전보건공단으로부터 무재해 2배수를 인정받았다. 이러한 안전에 대한 성과는 작업 능률로 그대로 이어지면서 이곳은 지난 2011년 포스코의 우수 외주 파트너사로 선정되기도 했다. 안전뿐만 아니라 보건 측면에서도 매우 큰 성과를 냈다. 전사적으로 금연 프로그램을 적극적으로 시행하여, 지난해 전남 광양시로부터 '담배 연기 없는 기업'을 수상한 것이다. 위험천만한 제철소 환경 속에서 확고한 안전보건 문화를 구축, 지역사업장의 모범이 되고 있는 (주)화인의 안전관리 활동을 살펴봤다.
