  • In midst of electrical energy consumption on the rise due to the industrial development and the improved quality of living, medium capacity and multi boilers which use gas that is comparatively low cost and can be supplied reliably are simulated for energy consumption using the partial load data obtained from the experiment. Economic analysis that considers initial and operation costs is carried out based on the Annual equal payment method.

  • This thesis proposed H-Bridge Multi-Level Inverter for Fluidized Bed Combustion Boiler Secondary Air Fan in 200MW thermal power plant. The adjustable speed drive systems improve the efficiency in lightly load condition and extend the life span of motor by limiting the over current at starting. H-Bridge Multi-level Inverter is composed of the several series low voltage power cell inverters, which have the independent isolated do link, in each phase. KEPRI(Korea Electric Power Research Institute) has successfully completed to develop, install, and commission H-Bridge Multi-level Inverter(6.6kV, 1MVA). This thesis gives a full detail about H-Bridge Multi-level Inverter, proposed boiler DCS(Distributed Control System) logic, and commissioning test result.

  • We develop a heat exchanger modules for a multi-burner boiler. The heat exchanger module is kind of a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). This heat recovery system has 4 heat exchanger modules. The 1st module consists of 27 bare tubes due to high temperature exhaust gas and the others consist of 27 finned tubes. The maximum steam pressure of each module is 1 MPa and tested steam pressure is 0.7 MPa. In order to test these heat exchanger modules, we make a 0.5t/h flue tube boiler (LNG, $40\;Nm^3/h$). We tested the heat exchanger module with changing the position of each heat exchanger module. We measured the inlet and outlet temperature of each heat exchanger module and calculated the heat exchange rate. The results show that if module C is placed at second stage (the 1st stage is always module O, bare tube module), there is no need to attach an additional heat exchanger module. In this case the exit temperature of module C is low enough to enter an economizer which is more effective in heat recovery than a heat exchanger module.

  • Heating and hot water supply energy consumption of medium and multi boiler systems applied to military officer housing are compared with in-situ experiment and TRNSYS dynamic simulation program. In a multiple boiler system, small capacity boilers are connected in parallel to meet the required capacity. For handling partial loads, medium capacity boiler relies on on-off control, while multi boiler adopts PI control. Since multi boiler has higher efficiency and better control strategy, the results show that energy consumption can be reduced significantly with the multi boiler system.

  • 최근 전압 및 주파수 가변을 이용하여 전동기의 속도를 제어하여 전동기 경부하시 베인에서 소모되는 에너지 절감효과를 얻을 수 있는 인버터 시스템이 널리 사용되고 있다. 이에 전력연구원은 6.6kV, 1MVA급 인버터 개발 및 동해화력 발전처에 설치, 보일러 점화 전/후 시험, 계통 병입 후 부하 시험 등을 국내 최초로 성공적으로 완료하여 현재 이차 공기 송풍기 구동용 인버터는 상업 운전 중이다. 본 논문에서는 기존 동해화력 발전 설비와 신규 인버터 시스템의 인터페이스 부분에 해당하는 보일러 DCS 로직과 계통 병입 후 시운전 결과에 대하여 상세히 기술하였다.

The 1st module consists of 27 bare tubes due to high temperature exhaust gas and the others consist of 27 finned tubes. The maximum steam pressure of each module is 10 bar and tested steam pressure is 4 bar. In order to test these heat exchanger modules, we make a 0.5t/h flue tube boiler (LNG, $40\;Nm^3/h$). The test results of 100% boiler load show that heat transfer rate of 1st module is 49.7 Mcal/h which is 34% of total heat transfer rate and that of 2nd module is 82.6 Mcal/h which is 57% of total heat transfer rate. The reason of higher the heat transfer rate of 2nd module than that of 1st module is that the 2nd heat exchanger module has finned tubes instead of bare tube. The boiler load 50% results show that only 2 heat exchanger modules are needed to extract the heat from the flue gas to water. From this result, it is very important of optimum design of the first finned tube among all water tubes.
