  • 현대인들의 생활에서 없어서는 안 되는 것 중의 하나가 바로 핸드폰이다. 핸드폰은 사람과 사람의 커뮤니케이션의 도구로서의 기능만이 있었다. 하지만 지금의 핸드폰의 기능에 있어 멀티미디어화 되어가고 있다. 음악을 듣고 사진도 찍고 게임도 한다. 2005년 1월 조사에 따르면 이동통신3사의 가입자의 수가 전체 인구 중 3,600만 명이었으나 2006년 1월 조사에 216만 명이 증가한 3,816명으로 나타났다. 핸드폰의 기능 중에 청소년들의 가장 선호하는 것이 모바일게임이다. 모바일게임은 핸드폰의 작은 액정 속에서 어디서나 쉽고 간단하게 사용 할 수 있는 점에서 많은 인기를 누리고 있다. 이에 전용 모바일 게임 폰이 나왔을 정도이다. 플렛폼의 통합으로 다양한 게임을 즐길 수 있게 되었다. 모바일게임 캐릭터는 대부분이 2등신 이다. 화면의 뷰(view)가 작기 때문에 4등신 이상으로 했을 때에 캐릭터의 감정표현이나 동작 표현에 있어 표현이 안 된다는 단점이 있다. 그러기 때문에 모바일 캐릭터의 표현이 2등신의 캐릭터로 많이 사용한다. 이번 연구에서는 이러한 캐릭터의 디자인요소인 캐릭터의 소재, 형태, 액세서리 동작의 프레임에 있어 어떻게 쓰이고 있는지에 관한 연구를 하였다.

  • 정보기술 발전에 따라 정보 활용 및 처리 역량이 상승하면서 교육 환경의 지능화, 네트워크화로 기술간, 서비스 간 융 복합을 통한 다양한 학습 내용 및 방법이 출현하였으며, 최근 e-러닝 산업에서 스마트기기 보급 확산과 상황 적응적이고 자기 주도적 학습에 대한 소비자의 니즈가 증가하면서 새로운 형태의 교육시스템인 스마트러닝이 부각되고 있다. 이러한 교육 패러다임의 변화에 따라 기존의 교육 콘텐츠를 스마트기기에 적용하기 위해서는 콘텐츠 및 솔루션 구조의 개선이 요구되며, 또한 서비스 제공의 측면에서 다양한 교육 콘텐츠 연동과 교육 서비스 융합을 위한 표준 플랫폼 적용이 필요하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 JVM 환경의 PC 인터페이스를 통해 ePub 표준의 교육용 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 제작기능과 기존 서책형 파일 포맷의 자료 정보를 응용하기 위한 정보변환 모듈, 스마트 기기용 ePub 전자책 뷰어를 포함하는 통합 솔루션 소프트웨어인 ePub Solution을 설계하였다.

  • The requirement for high performance visualization of engineering analysis of digital products is increasing since the size of the current analysis problems is more and more complex, which needs high-performance codes as well as high performance computing systems. On the other hand, different companies or customers do not have all the facilities or have difficulties in accessing those computing resources. In this paper, we present a multi-view supporting VR/AR system for providing supercomputing-based engineering analysis services. The proposed system is designed to provide different views supporting VR/AR visualization services depending on the requirement of the customers. It provides a sophisticated VR rendering directly dependent on a supercomputing resource as well as a remotely accessible AR visualization. By providing multi-view centric analysis services, the proposed system can be more easily applied to various customers requiring different levels of high performance computing resources. We will show the scalability and vision of the proposed approach by demonstrating illustrative examples with different levels of complexity.

  • This paper suggested a web based error manager for societal security service. This is a system that is suitable for detecting, sharing and recovering software error based on multimedia CSCW(Computer Supportes Cooperated Work). With error sharing system, a group cooperating users can share error applications. Our a web based error manager for societal security service enables user to share error objects through interaction awareness. This method has a file sharing, a window copy, a window overlay, or a window sharing. We implemented the web based error manager for societal security service so that the users participated in collaborative work may refer shared error objects as the same view to others.

An Optimal Adaptation Framework for Transmission of Multiple Visual Objects (다중 시각 객체 전송을 위한 최적화 적응 프래임워크)

  • With the growth of the Internet, multimedia streaming becomes an important means to deliver video contents over the Internet and the amount of the streaming multimedia contents is also getting increased. However, it becomes difficult to guarantee the quality of service in real-time over the IP network environment with instantaneously varying bandwidth. In this paper, we propose an optimal adaptation framework for streaming contents over the Internet in the sense that the perceptual quality of the multi-angie content with multiple visual objects is maximized given the constraints such as available bandwidth and transcoding cost. In the multi-angle video service framework, the user can select his/her preferred alternate views among the given multiple video streams captured at different view angles for a same event. This enhanced experience often entails streaming problems in real-time over the network, such as instantaneous bandwidth changes in the Internet. In order to cope with this problem, we assume that multi-angle video contents are encoded at different bitrates and the appropriate video streams are then selected or transcoded for delivery to meet such bandwidth constraints. For the user selective consumption of the various bitstreams in the multi-angle video service, the bitstream in each angle can be encoded in various bitrate, and the user can select a sub-bitrstream in the given bitrstreams or transcode the corresponding content in order to deliver the optimally adapted video contents to the instantaneously changing network condition. Therefore, we define the transcoding cost which means the time taken for transcoding the video stream and formulate a unified optimization framework which maximizes the perceptual quality of the multiple video objects in the given constraints such as the transcoding cost and the network bandwidth. Finally, we present plenty of the experimental results to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

An Integrated Face Detection and Recognition System (통합된 시스템에서의 얼굴검출과 인식기법)

  • This paper presents an integrated approach to unconstrained face recognition in arbitrary scenes. The front end of the system comprises of a scale and pose tolerant face detector. Scale normalization is achieved through novel combination of a skin color segmentation and log-polar mapping procedure. Principal component analysis is used with the multi-view approach proposed in[10] to handle the pose variations. For a given color input image, the detector encloses a face in a complex scene within a circular boundary and indicates the position of the nose. Next, for recognition, a radial grid mapping centered on the nose yields a feature vector within the circular boundary. As the width of the color segmented region provides an estimated size for the face, the extracted feature vector is scale normalized by the estimated size. The feature vector is input to a trained neural network classifier for face identification. The system was evaluated using a database of 20 person's faces with varying scale and pose obtained on different complex backgrounds. The performance of the face recognizer was also quite good except for sensitivity to small scale face images. The integrated system achieved average recognition rates of 87% to 92%.

  • Behavior awareness is a technology that recognizes human behavior through data and can be used in applications such as risk behavior through video surveillance systems. Conventional behavior recognition algorithms have been performed using the 2D camera image device or multi-mode sensor or multi-view or 3D equipment. When two-dimensional data was used, the recognition rate was low in the behavior recognition of the three-dimensional space, and other methods were difficult due to the complicated equipment configuration and the expensive additional equipment. In this paper, we propose a method of recognizing human behavior using only CCTV images without additional equipment using only RGB and depth information. First, the skeleton extraction algorithm is applied to extract points of joints and body parts. We apply the equations to transform the vector including the displacement vector and the relational vector, and study the continuous vector data through the RNN model. As a result of applying the learned model to various data sets and confirming the accuracy of the behavior recognition, the performance similar to that of the existing algorithm using the 3D information can be verified only by the 2D information.

Super Multi-view Display Method using Pin-hole Array (핀홀어레이를 이용한 슈퍼 멀티-뷰 3D 디스플레이)

  • In this paper a Super Multi-view display method using a pinhole array with full parallax was proposed. The proposed method was simulated and its parameters analyzed. Also, the distribution and irradiance of light through each pinhole on the retina receiver, according to the change of crystalline lens focal length, were found by simulation. As a result, an image free of blurring was obtained while the crystalline lens focused on the depth plane of the three-dimensional image created by the imaging lens.

A Unified Data Model for Conceptual Data Modeling (개념적 데이타 모델링을 위한 통합 데이타 모델)

  • In this paper, a conceptual data model, called the UDM(Unified Data Model), to efficiently represent database structures related with object technology and complex structured data, is proposed. This model integrates major features of modern data models, such as E-R model, Semantic Object Model, and UML, especially from the viewpoint of database design. This model is basically a simplified, but extended version of the Object-Relationship Model, which was proposed to model complex structures of temporal-spatial multimedia data. This model incorporates some of the important semantic and structural information of modern database applications and it is designed to support all of the major logical database models, including relational, object-relational, object-oriented, and (semi-)structured databases. A special diagrammatic technique, called the UDD(Unified Data Diagram), is introduced as a tool for database design. Also, possible ways to derive logical views of data from this unified data model are presented. The proposed model can be utilized as a convenient and practical tool for conceptual database designs.
