  • In this paper, we propose the automatic image-to-image registration of high resolution satellite images using local properties of tie points to improve the registration accuracy. A spatial distance between interest points of reference and sensed images extracted by Scale Invariant Feature Transform(SIFT) is additionally used to extract tie points. Coefficients of affine transform between images are extracted by invariant descriptor based matching, and interest points of sensed image are transformed to the reference coordinate system using these coefficients. The spatial distance between interest points of sensed image which have been transformed to the reference coordinates and interest points of reference image is calculated for secondary matching. The piecewise linear function is applied to the matched tie points for automatic registration of high resolution images. The proposed method can extract spatially well-distributed tie points compared with SIFT based method.

  • Precise image-to-image registration is required to process multi-sensor data together. The purpose of this paper is to develop an algorithm that register between high-resolution optical and SAR images using linear features. As a pre-processing step, initial alignment was fulfilled using manually selected tie points to remove any dislocations caused by scale difference, rotation, and translation of images. Canny edge operator was applied to both images to extract linear features. These features were used to design a cost function that finds matching points based on their similarity. Outliers having larger geometric differences than general matching points were eliminated. The remaining points were used to construct a new transformation model, which was combined the piecewise linear function with the global affine transformation, and applied to increase the accuracy of geometric correction.

  • The concept of shape similarity has been applied to verify the accuracy of the SIND model, the real-time prediction model for disaster risk. However, the CRITIC method, one of the most widely used in geometric methodology, is definitely limited to apply to complex shape such as hazard map for coastal disaster. Therefore, we suggested the modified CRITIC method of which we added the shape factors such as RCCI and TF to consider complicated shapes. The matching pairs were manually divided into exact-matching pairs and mis-matching pairs to evaluate the applicability of the new method for shape similarity into hazard maps for storm surges. And the shape similarity of each matching pair was calculated by changing the weights of each shape factor and criteria. Newly proposed methodology and the calculated weights were applied to the objects of the existent hazard map and the results from SIND model. About 90% of exact-matching pairs had the shape similarity of 0.5 or higher, and about 70% of mis-matching pairs were it below 0.5. As future works, if we would calibrate narrowly and adjust carefully multi-objects corresponding to one object, it would be expected that the shape similarity of the exact-matching pairs will increase overall while it of the mis-matching pairs will decrease.

  • In this paper, we propose an automatic image-to-image registration between high resolution multi-sensor images. To do this, TerraSAR-X image was shifted according to the initial translation differences of the x and y directions between images estimated using Mutual Information method. After that, the Canny edge operator was applied to both images to extract linear features. These features were used to design a cost function that finds matching points based on the similarities of their locations and gradient orientations. For extracting large number of evenly distributed matching points, only one point within each regular grid constructed throughout the image was extracted to the final matching point pair. The model, which combined the piecewise linear function with the global affine transformation, was applied to increase the accuracy of the geometric correction, and the proposed method showed RMSE lower than 5m in all study sites.

  • Grassfire spot matching method is based on similarity comparison of topological patterns for neighbor spots. This is a method where spot matching is performed as if fire spreads all around on grass. Spot matching starts from a seed spot pair confirmed as a matched pair of spots and spot matching spreads to the direction where the best matching result is produced. In this paper, it is a bit complicated way of grassfire method where multi-seed matched spot pair are manually selected and spot matching is performed from each multi-seed matched spot pair. The proposed method shows better performance in detection rate and accuracy than that of the previous method.

  • In this paper, we proposed the method automatically to match areal feature based on similarity using spatial information. For this, we extracted candidate matching pairs intersected between two different spatial datasets, and then measured a shape similarity, which is calculated by an weight sum method of each matching criterion automatically derived from CRITIC method. In this time, matching pairs were selected when similarity is more than a threshold determined by outliers detection of adjusted boxplot from training data. After applying this method to two distinct spatial datasets: a digital topographic map and street-name address base map, we conformed that buildings were matched, that shape is similar and a large area is overlaid in visual evaluation, and F-Measure is highly 0.932 in statistical evaluation.

  • Since string operations were applied to computational biology, security and search for Internet, various data structures and algorithms for computing efficient string operations have been studied. The all-pairs suffix-prefix matching is to find the longest suffix and prefix among given strings. The matching algorithm is importantly used for fast approximation algorithm to find the shortest superstring, as well as for bio-informatics and data compressions. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to find all-pairs suffix-prefix matching using the suffix array, which takes O($k{\cdot}m$) time complexity. The suffix array algorithm is proven to be better than the suffix tree algorithm by showing it takes less time and memory through experiments.

  • Nowadays, owing to the development of techniques for collecting geographic information, an increasing need is thus appearing: integrating heterogeneous databases. This paper proposes an algorithm for finding matching relationship between two node sets in road network data. We found the corresponding node pair using link shape linked with them as well as their location. The accuracy of matching was grown by this process. Result then can be used to reflect the topological information in performing link matching.
