Evaluation on Resource Recovery Potential by Landfill Gas Production (매립가스 발생량에 따른 자원화 가능성 평가)

  • This study was performed to the municipal waste generation amounts and characteristics for B city in Gangwon province, predicted the methane gas generation rate emitted from landfill, and analyzed the possibility of energy recovery to RDF(Refuse Derived Fuel) using combustible waste. The study results showed that the average bulk density of municipal waste for B city was 144.0 kg/$m^3$, and the average ratios of combustible waste were 36.0 % of paper, 21.6 % of vinyl, and 19.7 % of food waste. respectively. In the experiment for heating value, high and low heating value(moisture) was measured to 3,471 $kca{\ell}$/kg and 2,941 $kca{\ell}$/kg, respectively. After the prohibition of burying of food waste in landfill, the heating value of municipal waste was dramatically increased due to increase of the ratio of paper, vinyl, and plastic waste. The prediction results of methane gas generation rate emitted from landfill showed that the gas generation rate is increasing to 2,505.7 CH4 ton/year in 2021. After then, the rate is decreasing gradually. When the RDF facility is installed, the rate is decreasing after peaking at 1,956.9 CH4 ton/year in 2013. The generation rate of LFG emitted from waste landfill of B city was analyzed to 9.92 $m^3$/min, similar to 10.11 $m^3$/min for other city.

  • This research was intended to verify the stability of landfill final cover using SRSL(Self Recovering Sustainable Liner) with regard to differential settlements due to the degradation of waste and so on in a waste landfill. Numerical analysis was performed using FLAC 2D software program with input parameters based on soil characteristic tests and reference data after the blank was designed in order to represent the decomposition condition of waste. The maximum settlement of landfill cover was calculated to investigate the structural stability of landfill cover with the different condition of settlement width, settlement depth, and number of differential settlements. The allowable maximum deformation rate of SRSL, which was calculated using field permeability tests, was 6 mm. The analysis showed that SRSL was stable in case of a differential settlement width not exceeding 24.5% of total cover width.

Permeability and strength characteristics of Self-Sealing and Self-Beating materials as landfill liners (매립지 차수재로서 자가치유재의 투수 및 강도특성)

  • Recently, domestic waste landfills are constructed sometimes on seashore area to provide large landfill area. In order to strengthen the foundation of landfills and to prevent the infiltration of leachate through the bottom, many cases of constructing cement hardened liners on seashore clays are found. In these cases, it is possible to have cracks in the hardened liners due to settlement with waste load since the stiffness of the hardened liner Is greater than that of clay liners. In this study, the capability of Self-Sealing and Self-Healing (SSSH) liner made with a seashore clay in the metropolitan landfill to prevent the percolation of water and leachate is examined using flexible-wall permeameter test and using uniaxial compression test. Applicability of SSSH to weathered granitic soil is also examined for self-sealing capabilities. The result of Flexible permeameter test for SSSH with the seashore clay showed that permeability obtained was lower than permeability criteria of Korean waste management law. The permeability and strength characteristics of SSSH with granitic soil and bentonite showed better results than with the seashore clay.

The Enhanced Electrophoresis Method in Leachate System for Repairing of Leaks in Waste Landfill Geomembrane Liner (폐기물 매립지 차수층 누출시 전기영동 복원을 위한 침출수에서의 향상기법)

  • In case that the seepage of contaminants into the subsurface has been generated from the waste impoundment by demage of geomembrane liner, it is necessary to repair the leaks of geomembrane liner for minimizing the environmental contamination by electrophoresis method. However, when electrophoresis method is applied to leachate electrolyte system, the phenomenon of clay particles flocculation would be accelerated by the interaction between clay particles and specific chemicals in leachate. In addition, the gravitational settling behaviour would be induced superior to the electrophoretic migration behaviour. Eventually, the limitations of field applicability for using the electrophoresis method are appeared. Therefore, 1-D enhanced electrophoresis method is conducted to prevent the clay flocculation and accelerate the migration of clay particles separately. After the 1-D enhanced electrophoresis experiment, we can get the results that the deflocculation effect of clay particles is increased by electrical repulsion of polymer, which adsorbed in clay particle edge, in case of using PAA dispersing agent.

  • 유기성 폐기물은 음식물쓰레기, 농ㆍ수ㆍ축산폐기물, 식품가공산업 폐기물 등에서 주로 발생되고 있다. 이러한 유기성 폐기물은 함수율이 70∼85% W.B.정도로 높고 부패성이 크기 때문에 악취 및 침출수 등의 여러 가지 환경유발 가능성이 높은 것으로 평가되고 있다. 최근에는 이러한 젖은 폐기물의 매립장 반입이 규제되고 있으며, 함수율이 높아 직접 소각도 어려운 실정이므로 유기성 폐기물의 안정화, 감량화 및 재자원화를 위한 처리기술개발이 시급한 실정이다.(중략)

  • This study was carried out to analyze national and regional distribution of the organic wastes generation and build their distribution maps including food wastes, paper and wood wastes, wastewater and slaughterhouse wastes. The information for the annual waste production was modified using statistics from Ministry of Environment (MOE). Based on waste generation resources data, we established database architecture table about waste generation. The distribution maps for food wastes were built up in both national and regional scales and distribution maps for paper and wood wastes, wastewater and slaughterhouse wastes were also produced, respectively. The distribution maps of waste generation graphically provide the information regarding biomass resources to policy-makers, farmers, general users and it is highly expected to be utilized for policy-making of environmental-friendly agriculture and bioenergy.

An Economic Evaluation of MSW RDF production plant (생활폐기물고형연료(RDF) 제조기술 경제성 평가)

  • 국내 최초의 생활폐기물고형연료(RDF) 생산플랜트인 원주시 RDF플랜트의 2009년도 운영실적을 정리하여 폐기물 처리단가를 분석하였으며 에너지 생산 효과도 분석하였다. 실적분석에 사용된 자료는 원주 RDF플랜트 위탁운영업체가 운영비를 청구 및 정산하기 위해서 원주시에 상시 측정 및 보고하는 항목으로서, 내용은 트럭으로 플랜트에 반입되는 폐기물 전체량, RDF생산 전체량, 불순물 매립 전체량, 건조 및 탈취용 연료사용 전체량, 전기사용 전체량 등이다. 2009년도 원주시 RDF플랜트에 반입된 폐기물 량은 총 17,504톤이었고, RDF를 총 7,044톤 생산하였으며, 4,120톤의 불연물을 선별하였다. 1년간 사용한 건조 및 탈취용 연료는 총 596,268 리터였으며 연료인 부생유의 가격은 리터 당 평균 864.6원이었다. 사용한 전기량은 총 2,435,397 kWh였고, 이 중에서 성형공정에 사용된 전기량은 총 사용량의 19%였다. 이상의 기록자료들을 분석해 본 결과, 폐기물 1톤을 처리하는데 전기 비용이 14,334원이었고, 연료비가 29,452원이었다. 여기에 폐기물 1톤당 불연물 매립비 6,573원과 위탁인건비를 합하면 폐기물 1톤당 처리비용은 약 116,573원으로 나타났다. 현재 원주시 RDF는 톤당 25,000원에 판매되고 있으므로 이 비용을 감안하면 폐기물 1톤당 처리비용은 105,298원으로 산출되었다. 현재 알려진 유사 규모의 소각로 운영비가 폐기물 1톤당 136,736원인데, 이것은 RDF기술보다 31,438원/톤-폐기물 정도 처리비용이 비싸다. 따라서 100톤 이하 규모의 폐기물처리시설 설치를 할 경우에는 RDF 시설이 경제적으로 타당함을 나타낸다. 원주시 RDF플랜트의 물질수지를 분석해 본 결과, RDF생산 수율은 40.2%였으며 총 투입된 에너지는 8,0587 Gcal였다. 생산된 에너지 총량은 RDF발열량 4,500 kcal/kg으로 했을 때 31,699 Gcal로 나타났다. 투입대비 생산에너지 비율은 25.4%로 계산되었고, 전기의 발전효율을 40%로 감안했을 경우에는 35.3%로 계산되었다. 성형하는데 사용되는 총 에너지는 전체 투입에너지의 4.9%로 나타났고, 비용으로는 폐기물 1톤당 2,723원 이었다.

폐기물의 안전처리를 위한 구동화격자 소각로내의 공기유동 현상

  • 폐기물의 처리방법으로는 매립, 소각, 재활용 등이 있으며, 이 중 자원으로 재활용하는 방법이 가장 바람직하다. 그러나 모든 폐기물을 자원으로 재활용 할 수 없을 뿐 아니라, 사업장에서 발생되는 폐기물 특히 병원폐기물의 경우 재활용이 거의 불가능하고, 위생적 처리가 어려우므로 소각에 의하여 위생적이고, 안전하게 처리하는 방안이 가장 적합하다. 소각방식은 처리대상 폐기물의 종류와 처리량 등에 따라서 화격자식, 유동상식, 로터리킬른식, 분무식소각로식 등으로 분류된다. (중략)

  • 1. 서론 : 산업이 고도로 발달함에 따라 야기되는 환경오염의 심각성이 날로 더해가고 있다. 특히 원자력 관련시설중 핵연료 재활용 공정에서 발생되는 방사성 폐기물의 처리기술에 대한 개발이 무엇보다도 시급한 실정이다. 핵연료 재활용 조작은 고준위 및 중준위 방사능 액체 폐기물을 발생시키며 이러한 방사능 액체 폐기물의 주요핵종은 긴 반감기를 갖는 것들이다. 이러한 방사능 액체 폐기물의 무해한 저장을 위해서 세계적으로 노력해 왔으며 고준위 폐기물은 유리화한후 심층매립을 하는 것이 가장 안전한 방법으로 고려되고 있다.(생략)
