The Liquefaction Assessment for Large-sized Waste Landfill Site (대형폐기물 매립지반 액상화 평가)

  • The purpose of this research is to assess the aseismic safety for the large-sized waste landfill site based on the results from liquefaction potential analysis. For successful achievement of research, the simplified liquefaction analysis and detailed liquefaction analysis using data from lab test and seismic response analysis are executed. Based on the simplified liquefaction analysis, the possibility of liquefaction is occurred at only BH-14 with maximum acceleration 0.169 g. Therefore, liquefaction possibility of BH-14 is evaluated by the detailed liquefaction analysis again. The safety factor greater than 1.0 from the result of analysis at BH-14 guarantees safety of liquefaction.

  • In the case of domestic general waste landfills, cumulated leachate level is often formed in the landfill due to the waste of high moisture content and it becomes important to characterize the hydraulic properties of the disposed waste. Although many hydrologic studies have been peformed for leachate barriers and pheriperal subsurface environments, few studies have been done to investigate the hydraulic property of the disposed waste and cover soils and to analyse the leachate flow behavior within landfills. In this paper, the geotechnical properties of the waste and buried cover soils are identified through the field experiment including pumping and slug tests. The results of various tests show that the field density of the cover soils is somewhat higher than the maximum laboratory density of cover soils and the vertical flow of leachate and gas in the landfill is prevented by the buried cover soils. The hydraulic conductivities of field pumping test and slug tests are well matched and stayed in the range of hydraulic conductivities of well compacted wastes in the literature.

도시 폐기물 매립지반의 내진해석

  • 폐기물 매립시설물은 지진에 의해 파괴될 경우 시설물 파괴로부터 인명 및 경제적인 피해와 더불어 복구하기 어려운 환경적인 문제가 발생한다. 따라서 지진시 지반 및 구조물의 거동을 정확히 예측하기 위한 신뢰성 있는 지반 가속도의 증폭현상 평가가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 1차원 지반응답특성 평가 프로그램인 SHAKE91과 유한차분 프로그램인 FLAC을 이용 하여 폐기물 매립지에서의 지진거동 특성을 분석하였다. 1차원 해석결과 연약층이 존재하는 곳에서 지반변형이 많이 이루어졌고, FLAC 해석결과 폐기물층 사면부에서 뚜렷한 변위벡터가 발생하였으나 내진 2등급 매립지의 허용변위 30cm 이내이므로 해석 대상 구조물은 안전함을 알 수 있었다.

  • The Seokdae municipal waste landfill was filled from 1987 to 1993. A disk tension infiltrometer was used to estimate the saturated hydraulic conductivity of the upper part of landfill cover. The estimated saturated hydraulic conductivity ranges from 2.2$\times$$10^{-4}$~8.1$\times$$10^{-3}$ cm/sec. Net infiltration through the Seokdae municipal waste landfill is estimated from precipitation data, hydraulic conductivity and reported landfill profiles by using an unsaturated flow model, HYDRUS. Total infiltration rate is estimated to be 939 ㎥/day. Leachate level rise and leachate seepage are computed by adopting a simple model.

Reclamation of Closed Non-Sanitary Landfills by Sorting Transfer Control (선별이적처리를 통한 사용종료 비위생매립지 정비방안 연구)

  • The aim of this study was an evaluation of closed non-sanitary landfill's stabilization degree and a determination of its an optimal reclamation method. In order to evaluate the stabilization degree, physical compositions of landfill wastes in 21 closed non-sanitary landfills were analyzed. There were 4 major items such as cover soils, organics, combustibles and incombustibles. With respect to the results of physical compositions, it was determined that the waste in 9 sampling sites of closed non-sanitary landfills after 10years of the relief time was not fully stabilized. The closed non-sanitary landfills must be reclaimed as soon as possible. The main material in closed non-sanitary landfills was cover soils and the highest content was 89.96%. Otherwise, the contents in sanitary landfills was small and 9.89~11.12%. Therefore, it was evaluated that the recovered soil by sorting transfer treatment could be reused as on-site cover soils of the reclamating non-sanitary landfills and/or constructing materials.

  • In this paper, a new optimized design methodology is proposed. It integrates the discrete element method (DEM) and real-coded genetic algorithm for the design of landfill lining system subjected to equipment loadings. In applying the design method to a tapered lining system, the effect of the taperness, which means the change of shape for cover soil, is examined. The optimization problem to maximize the capacity of a waste-containment facility is solved using real coded genetic algorithm. Numerical example analysis is carried out for a typical landfill slope structure.

도시 고형폐기물의 열분해용융 특성

  • 현재 우리나라는 1980년대 후반부터 도시폐기물 소각시설을 설치하기 시작하여 전국적으로 20 여곳의 대형 소각장이 가동되고 있으며 대기오염 방지 기술도 발전에 발전을 거듭하여 불과 10 여년 동안에 선진국 수준의 대기오염 배출기준을 만족하는데 아무 문제가 없을 정도로 되었다. 그러나 소각후 발생 하는 소각재의 경우 비산재는 고형화등의 처리 후 매립하고 바닥재는 별도 처리없이 매립하는 실정이어서 매립 후 시간이 흐를수록 매립된 소각재에서 용출되는 다이옥신과 소각재 중에 포함된 중금속 등에 의한 토양오염과 수질오염의 우려가 남아 있는 것이 사실이다. 소각후 남는 소각재는 폐기물량의 약 15 %, 비산재는 약 1.5 % 정도 발생하는 것으로 볼 때 매립은, 특히 다음 세대에 유산으로 남겨진다는 점에서 더 이상 적절하지 않은 해결책으로 생각되며 유럽과 일본 등 선진국에서는 이미 이와 같은 소각재에 대한 무해화 처리기술이 개발되고 속속 상용화되고 있으므로 우리나라도 하루빨리 열분해용융시설등 신기술을 개발하거나 도입하여 세계적 환경 기술경쟁 에서 선진국과 어깨를 나란히 함은 물론 청정한 국토를 후손에게 물려줄 수 있도록 하는 대책이 강구되어 야 할 것이다. 본 고에서는 폐기물 처리기술의 세계 적 동향을 살펴보고 폐기물의 완전 자원화에 성공한 대우 써모셀렉트 열분해용융 기술의 특성에 대해 소개하고자 한다.

  • In this paper, we developed the landfill bringing management system which can help to manage a landfill efficiently. Basically We made efforts to standardize it's system architecture but also considered it's localization to adapt An-sung Landfill's special requirements. We used RFID and LPR systems to distinguish a garbage truck from the others, and could establish more reliable landfill management system with this information.
