The purpose of this study is to analyze the sensitivity of the RMA2 model parameters reflecting the flow characteristics of stream junction and thus understand the hydraulic characteristics of the channel confluence flow. This study dealt with the input parameters of the RMA-2 model, a two-dimensional numerical analysis model widely used for researches both at home and abroad. The parameters of the RMA-2 model are roughness coefficient, turbulent diffusion coefficient, Coriolis forces latitude, Density, and mesh size. This study those parameters estimated from actual heavy rainfall, and varied the parameter size by (-)30%${\sim}$+30% to review the characteristics of the flow characteristics of the channel section. Weobserved that when the ratio of the channel width was relatively small, the smaller the approaching angle was, the farther from the junctions became the generating place of the maximum flow velocity, however, when the ratio of the channel width was relatively large, the larger the approaching angle was, the farther the generating place of the maximum flow velocity from the junctions became. In particular, the distance between junctions and the place where the maximum flow velocity generated showed an absolute correlationover 90% of the relative channel width, but an inverse relationwas found when the distance to the place where the flow velocity generated was shortened as relative the channel width between the main channel and tributary increased.

This study presents the analysis of flood and bed deformation caused by reservoir failure. The CCHE1D is used to simulate 1D non-uniform, non-equilibrium sediment transport and bed deformation. The CCHE1D deals with the adaptation length for non-equilibrium sediment, classified sediment particle for non-uniform sediment and mixing layer for the exchange with the sediment moving with the flow. The model is applied to Ha!Ha! river basin where was experienced reservoir failure in 1996 to analyze non-uniform and non-equilibrium sediment transport. The calculations are compared with morphological bed changes of pre- and post-flood. In addition, model sensitivity to main parameters involving adaptation length ($L_{s,b}$), non-equilibrium coefficient (${\alpha}_s$), mixing layer thickness (${\delta}_m$) and porosity (p') is analyzed. The results indicates that thalweg change is the most sensitive to non-equilibrium coefficient (${\alpha}_s$) among those parameters in the study area.

RUSLE(Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation) has been widely used to estimate the soil loss amount of watersheds from rainfall erosivity, soil erodibility, topographic features and cropping management condition. Rainfall erosivity is the most dominant and sensitive factor among these so that the determination of reliable rainfall erosivity is essential to estimate the soil loss of watershed. Since there has been no criterion to determine the rainfall erosivity in Korea, the empirical values, determined from the relation between the annual average rainfall and erosivity or suggested by TBR(Transport Research Board), have been used for designing the erosion control structure and controlling the soil erosion for watersheds. In this study, the procedure for estimating the rainfall erosivity using frequency analysis is proposed. The most fitted distribution function, with calculated rainfall erosivities with various frequencies and durations, has been also selected. The suggested procedure can be used to estimate the optimal value of rainfall erosivity for RUSLE in order to design soil erosion structures and control the soil erosion in watersheds effectively.
A quasi-two-dimensional model for simulating the flood plain flow is developed. The model consists, in general, of a multiply-connected network which combines the main channel and two-dimensional flood plain cells. The main channel flow is described by the Saint Venant equations for one-dimensional unsteady flow, and the flood plain flow by the cell continuity and river-or weir-type stage-discharge relations between flood plain cells. The implicit algorithm for unsteady flow in looped channel network is extended to incorporate the flood plain flow. To verify the performance of the model, it is applied to three test problems, and sensitivities to various model parameters are analyzed. It turns out that the present model gives more accurate result than that by Cunge (1975) as the shape of cross section becomes more complex and irregular. Not only the inundation of water from the main channel but the return flow from the flood plain is successfully simulated.

In this study, the characteristic of a 3-D micro-woven material, which is one of the newly developed periodic open-cell structure, is analyzed through various computational simulations. To increase the accuracy of the numerical simulations, the distance between each directional wire is parameterized using six design variables, and its model geometry is precisely discretized using tetrahedron elements. Using the improved computational model, the material properties of the mechanical, thermal, and fluidic behavior are investigated using commercial software and compared with the previous experimental results. By changing the space between the x- and y-directional wires, a parametric test is performed to determine the tendency of the change in the material properties. In addition, the correlation between two different material properties is investigated using the Ashby chart. The result can further be used in determining the optimal pattern and wire spacing in 3-D micro-woven materials.
Bivariate measure of risk and error(BMORE) plot is originally designed to depict bivariate output data and related statistics obtained from a stochastic simulation such as sample mean, median, outliers, and a boundary of a certain percentile of simulation data. When compared to the static numbers, the plot has a big advantage in visualization that enables scholars and practitioners to understand the potential variability and risk in the simulation data. In this study, beyond just the construction of the plot to depict the variability of a certain system, we add a chance constraint to the plot and apply it for decision making such as checking the feasibility of systems, comparing performances of the systems on statistical background, and also analyzing the sensitivity of the problem parameters. In order to demonstrate an application of the plot, we employ an inventory management problem as an example. However, the techniques and algorithms suggested in this paper can be applied to any other problems comparing systems on bivariate performance measures with simulation/experiment results.
Currently, the increased run-off and the shortened arrival time are one of the causes of the city environmental disasters in urbanization. Therefore, it is necessary to properly design the hydrologic structures, but it is very difficult to forecast the values necessary to design from the planning stage. Moreover, as the parameter is changed due to the urban development, it is difficult not only to analyze the run-off influences but also to find the related studies and literatures. The purpose of this study is to utilize the results as the important basic data of the hydrologic structures, its proper design and run-off influences through the sensibility analysis of the model parameter variables. In this study, the absolute and relative sensibility analysis method were used to find out the correlation through the sensibility analysis of the topology and hydrology parameters. Especially, in this study, the changes in the run-off amount and volume were calculated according to increase/decrease in CN, the coefficient of discharge, and the empirical formula is prepared and proposed through the regressive analysis among the parameters. In the meantime, the parameter sensibility analysis was performed through the simulation HEC-HMS that is used and available in Korea. From the results of this study, it was found that the run-off amount is increased about by 10% when the CN value is increased by 5% before and after the development through the HEC-HMS simulation and data analysis. As long as there will be additional data collection analysis and result verification, and continuous further studies to find out the parameters proper to the domestic circumstances, it is expected to considerably contribute to the proper design of the hydrologic structures with respect to the ungauged basin.
Two representative river water quality models have been compared in this paper. The steady water quality model, QUAL2E, and the unsteady model, CE-QUAL-RIV1, have been chosen for comparative simulations. Under same reaction coefficients and boundary conditions, the water quality of the Geum river below the Daechung dam has been simulated using two different models, and the water quality equations are compared each other. Since basic model algorithm is very close, the input data required for model run is very similar. Upon the simulation under steady condition, the results of two models show very good agreement especially for BOD, DO, and $NH_3-N$, while the results of specific constituent such as dissolved P is quite different. As a result, dominant water quality parameters to compute each corresponding water quality variables are summarized and tablized through the sensitivity analysis.

The integrated core network architecture and various mobile subscriber behavior can result in a significant increase of signaling load inside the evolved packet core network proposed by 3GPP in Release 8. Consequently, an authentication signaling analysis can provide insights into reducing the authentication signaling loads and latency, satisfying the quality-of-experience. In this paper, we evaluate the signaling loads in the EPS architecture via analytical modeling based on the renewal process theory. The renewal process theory works well, irrespective of a specific random process (i.e. Poisson). This paper considers various subscribers patterns in terms of call arrival rate, mobility, subscriber's preference and operational policy. Numerical results are illustrated to show the interactions between the parameters and the performance metrics. The sensitivity of vertical handover performance and the effects of heavy-tail process are also discussed.
