  • The gustatory sense organs in the mouthparts of th adult Green Leafhopper (Cicadella viridis L.) were observed by scanning electron microscope. The gustatory sensilla were composed of ten D-sensilla on the precibarim, eight P-sensilla on the wall of both side of eipharyngeal basin, and two H-sensilla in the food canal of the hypopharynx. D- and P-sensilla were again subdivided into 2 subtypes as two types by their morphology. Beneath the cuticle of epipharynx, two paris of nerve bundles were seen originating from D- and P-sensilla, respectively. And a pair of nerve bundles from H-sensilla, beneath the cuticle of hypoharynx, was observed.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the evaluation of insecticidal efficacy and control effect in field of 10 environmental-friendly agricultural materials (EFAM) and seasonal occurrence at the vineyards to the Lycorma delicatula. L. delicatula nymphs occurred from late May to late August the highest early June (1st nymph) while adults occurred from late July to November with the highest peak of early October (preovipositing female) in 2010. Total population density of L. delicatula was the highest in early June. For the 3rd~4th nymphal instars and adults, EFAM (Spider, Jindikap-plus and Byejin-${\alpha}$) showed perfect insecticidal activity 2hour after treatment. Seoncho showed insecticidal activities 96.7% within 48 hour. Residual effects between EFAM showed 55.5% Spider at recommended concentration at 7 days after treatment(DAT), the other EFAM had low efficacy. Jindikap-plus and Spider showed 99% control value on nymphs in the field test at 3DAT, appeared control value more than 90% at 7DAT. Also, the control effects of Jindikap-plus and Spider were showed the adult mortality of 100% and 98.2% respectively at 3DAT, 90.6% and 84.6% respectively at 7DAT. Whereas the other EFAM had low efficacy. Jindikap-plus and Spider were excellent control effects compared with Acetamiprid WP.

  • Gall development of Nurudea yanoniella on Rhus japonica and emergence of alatae from galls were studied in Jeonju. The galls were formed in late June to late October and slit open in late October 1999. The maximum length and width of galls marked were measured weekly during the period from gall formation to opening. The length and width of galls increased exponentially until mid August. After the 12 September the gall stopped developing Fundatrices (the first generation within the gall) began to larviposit on 24 June and the second generation developed in July to September. The alatiform of the second generation arrived at the final stadium in late September. Consequently, there were at least 4 generations within the galls. Alatae escaped from galls in early October. Correlation between gall and leaf growth indicated that fundatrix might act as a gall forming factor and 2nd-4th generations growing factor. A new species to Korean fauna, Nurudea shirai (Matsumura 1917) was found during this study.
