표면개질에 따른 탄소섬유복합재의 마찰마모 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Friction and Wear Characteristics of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics by Surface Modification)

  • The objective of the present study was to investigate the characteristics of the friction and wear according to the amount of ion-irradiation for the carbon fiber reinforced plastic(CFRP). Unidirectional carbon fiber reinforced composites were fabricated with epoxy resin as a matrix and carbon fiber as a reinforcement, and its surface was modified by the ion-assisted reaction. When the amount of ion-irradiation was $1{\times}10^{16}$ ions/$cm^2$, the friction coefficients of composites were about 0.1 and the wear mode was stable, whereas, the friction coefficient of non-treatment composites were about 0.16 and the wear mode was very unstable. But if the amount of ion-irradiation was $5{\times}10^{16}$ ions/$cm^2$, the friction coefficients were higher rather than that of $1{\times}10^{16}$ ions/$cm^2$. Consequently, the amount of ion-irradiation was not in proportion to the friction coefficients, and it was conformed that the optimal conditions would exist between broth of them.

  • 도전성 섬유(Conductive textile)는 섬유자체의 고유 특성을 유지하면서 전기적인 도전 특성을 갖는 섬유로서, Cu, Ag, Ni 등의 전기전도성이 높은 금속 박막을 증착하여 제작하고 있다. 그러나, 이러한 금속은 공기 중의 산소와 결합하여 쉽게 산화되는 특성을 지니고 있기 때문에 사용 중에 산화되어 도전 특성이 감소하는 단점이 있다. TiN은 금속 못지않은 높은 전기전도성을 지니고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 금속에 비하여 높은 경도에 따른 우수한 내마모 특성, 내부식성 및 낮은 마찰계수를 지니고 있다. 그러나, TiN은 경도가 높기 때문에 섬유의 고유 특성인 유연성이 저하되는 문제가 있다. 본 연구에서는 면(Cotton), PE (Polyester), PP (Polypropylene) 등의 섬유 위에 TiN 박막을 증착하여, 섬유의 유연성을 유지하며 전기전도성과 내마모 특성이 우수한 도전성 섬유를 제작하고자 하였다. TiN 박막 증착을 위하여 ICP-assisted pulsed-DC reactive magnetron sputtering 장비를 사용하였으며, Ar:N2 유량비(Flow rate), Ti 타겟 power, ICP RF power 등을 변화시켜 Ti와 N의 조성비를 조절하였고, 이를 통하여 섬유의 휨이나 접힘에도 도전 특성이 변하지 않고 내마모 특성이 우수한 TiN 박막을 증착하였다. TiN 박막이 증착된 섬유의 전기전도도는 일정한 압력 하에 전기전도도를 측정할 수 있는 장치를 제작하여 측정하였으며, 표면 조성 분포 및 접합력 측정을 위하여 XPS (X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy)와 Peel-tester를 이용하였다.

에폭시 기지 나노복합재료의 마모 특성 (Wear Properties of Epoxy Matrix Nanocomposites)

  • The wear behavior of epoxy matrix composites filled with nano sized silica particles is discussed in this paper. Especially, the variation of the coefficient of friction and the wear resistance according to the change of apply load and sliding velocity were investigated for these materials. Wear tests of pin-on-disc mode were carried out and the wear test results exhibited as following ; The epoxy matrix composites showed lower coefficient of friction compared to the neat epoxy through the whole sliding distance. As increasing the sliding velocity the epoxy matrix composites indicated lower coefficient of friction, whereas the neat epoxy showed higher coefficient of friction as increasing the sliding velocity. The specific friction work of both materials were increased with apply load. In case of the epoxy matrix composites, the running in periods of friction were reduced as increase in apply load. The epoxy matrix composites were improved the wear resistance by adding the nano silica particles remarkably. It is expected that the load carrying capacity of the epoxy matrix composites will be improved by increase of Pv factor.

가압소결 SiC/$Si_3$$N_4$/SiCw 복합체의 마찰마모특성 (Tribological Properties of Hot Pressed SiC/$Si_3$$N_4$/SiCw Composites)

  • $\alpha$-Si$_3$N$_4$가 20vol% 혼합된 SiC/Si$_3$N$_4$혼합물에서 $\alpha$-SiC의 일부를 SiC whisker로 치환하여 첨가한 후 180$0^{\circ}C$, 25MPa의 압력으로 hot pressing하여 SiC/Si$_3$N$_4$/SiCw 복합체를 제조하였다. SiC whisker의 첨가 함량이 증가할수록 상대밀도, 꺽임강도, 마모 저항성은 감소되었으나, 파괴인성은 크게 향상되었다. $\alpha$-SiC의 일부를 SiC whisker로의 치환은 치밀화를 억제하였으나 파괴인성의 증가는 마모 저항성을 향상시키지 않았다.

  • Al/SiC composites were fabricated by thermal spray process, and the dry sliding wear tests were performed using the various sliding speed of 10, 30, 60 and 90 RPM through 1000 cycles. The applied load was 10 N and radius of wear track was 15 mm. Wear tracks on the Al/SiC composites were investigated using scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). In the case of sliding speed of 10 RPM, adhesive wear behavior caused by plastic deformation of composits surface was observed. In the cases of sliding speed of 30, 60, 90 RPM, abrasive wear behavior on the adhered layer formed by debris were observed. Through this study, it was found that the wear behavior of Al/SiC composites was mainly influenced by the sliding speed.

  • Wear diagrams, which are the three dimensional representations of the dependence of the wear rate on the applied pressure and the sliding speed, were constructed with the pin on ring type wear test results using 52100 wear couples. The pressure and speed ranges from 0.45 MPa to 45.30 MPa and from 0.012 m/sec to 0.12 (0.120)m/sec, respectively. The results show the mild to severe transition, which suggests the change of the wear mechanisms as a function of the pressure and sliding speed. The SEM micrographs of the corresponding worn area shows clearly that different wear mechanisms dominate.

  • Recently the demand for a fast and precise actuator in semiconductor industries is growing larger. A SAW motor is now expected as a new friction-drive actuator to meet such demand. However, its friction and wear properties are almost unknown and its low stability and reliability still remain to be solved. In this research the tests of SAW motor were carried out and its durability was discussed. The effect of wear caused by friction on the driving force and driving speed were clarified.

  • In this paper, the method and its effectiveness to decrease the uneven wear of the brake pad were proposed. A finite element analysis was performed to analyze the pressure distributions on the contact surfaces. The optimum brake pad shape was determined by a robust design using the Taguchi method. The effectiveness of the optimum design was clarified by the wear tests with a dynamometer.

피스톤 압축 링 재료의 지르코니아 순도에 따른 트라이볼로지 특성 (Tribological Characteristics with Purity Zirconia of Compression Ring Materials in Piston)

  • The friction and wear properties of ceramics are very important in the applications to engineering ceramic parts such as seal rings, pump parts, automobile meter parts, and so on. In this study, the effects of each other purity on the mechanical and tribological properties of purity zirconia ceramics were investigated. Also in order to determine the effects of sliding distance, sliding speed, contact load, friction coefficient, the amount of worn out material at a certain time, and the prepared composites were measured. Crystalline phases and microstructure were examined with XRD and SEM. The results show that we obtained the good properties of friction coefficient and wear resistance at the purity 99.5% of zirconia. than this of the purity 95% were great at the wear amount of worn out material.

  • In order for high strength aluminum alloys to be used in transportation systems and the aerospace industry, excellent mechanical and physical properties are required. In particular, excellent anti-abrasion property is indispensable for parts that require driving force. In general, surface treatment technologies such as high frequency heat treatment, gas solid carburizing, surface rolling, shot peening are used as ways of improving anti-abrasion property. Among various surface treatment technologies, this research chose shot peening processing for Al7075-T6, which is well known as representative high-strength alloy steel. Wear characteristics were compared and analyzed after shot peening processing with shot ball velocities of 40m/s and 70m/s in order to investigate the effects of shot peening processing on wear characteristics.
