  • There are continuos tendencies toward that foreign tourists increase. Since 55% of them visit Korea without data communication for saving the communication costs, they can not utilize a variety of O2O services through QR/NFC/Beacon. There have been some researches to provide a smart map service based on the micro webpage technology even without data communication. But, they do not suggest how the templates are retrieved into their smart-phones. In this paper, we describe a mobile tourist information system for those who have no data communication. We utilize the micro webpage technology to develop a system for market promotion, shopping goods, and tourist maps. What matters in the micro webpage techniques is that the templates should be already downloaded to the users' smart phones before using it. The preceeded research did not mention the problem. We suggest a scheme that tourists obtain the tremplates in the information offices on the spot through Wi-Fi. We describe the details of the system, and evaluate the data overhead of templates and the time to be downloaded. We show that the overheads are endurable, which means that the system would be working well.

  • JavaScript is widely used in web pages with HTML. Many JavaScript engines adopt Just-in-time compilers to accelerate the execution of JavaScript programs. Recently, many newly introduced devices are adopting 64-bit CPUs instead of 32-bit and Just-in-time compilers for 64-bit CPU are slowly being introduced in JavaScript engines. However, there are many inefficiencies in the currently available Just-in-time compilers for 64-bit devices. Especially, the size of code is significantly increased compared to 32-bit devices, mainly due to 64-bit wide addresses in 64-bit devices. In this paper, we are going to address the inefficiencies introduced by 64-bit wide addresses and values in the Just-in-time compiler for the V8 JavaScript engine and propose more efficient ways of generating constant values and addresses to reduce the size of code. We implemented the proposed optimization in the V8 JavaScript engine and measured the size of code as well as performance improvements with Octane and SunSpider benchmarks. We observed a 3.6% performance gain and 0.7% code size reduction in Octane and a 0.32% performance gain and 2.8% code size reduction in SunSpider.

  • Currently, the package tools and software development kits of Microsoft's Windows Media Technology provides users an environment to write, distribute and play multimedia contents. However, it is very difficult for common users to create a media streaming content using the Windows Media technology, because of its technical hardship. Therefore, we developed an easy-to-use authoring tool for multimedia streaming content which can be used in the Windows Media Technology environment. Our authoring tool is based on the web page templates by which HTML codes can be generated automatically. Using the existing streaming media authoring tool provided by the Microsoft, users have to code the temporal markers and the event script commands directly to the ASF(Advanced Systems Format) files or ASX (ASF Stream Redirector) format files. We developed an easy-to-use interface for insetting temporal markers and the event script commands to the ASF files by simple mouse clicking and dragging to minimize the effort of users for creating multimedia streaming content. In addition, we implemented an ASX file creation wizard that allows users to create ASX format file without coding ASX tags. We also implemented various web page templates where the ASF files and the ASX files can be embedded by just clicking the corresponding templates. The target web pages can be automatically generated from those templates and previewed directly on the web browser at the time of creation.
