Room-temperature Bonding and Mechanical Characterization of Polymer Substrates using Microwave Heating of Carbon Nanotubes (CNT 마이크로파 가열을 이용한 고분자 기판의 상온 접합 및 기계적 특성평가)

  • The mechanical reliability of flexible devices has become a major concern on their commercialization, where the importance of reliable bonding is highlighted. In terms of component materials' properties, it is important to consider thermal damage of polymer substrates that occupy large area of the flexible device. Therefore, room temperature bonding process is highly advantageous for implementing flexible device assemblies with mechanical reliability. Conventional epoxy resins for the bonding still require curing at high temperatures. Even after the curing procedure, the bonding joint loses flexibility and exhibits poor fatigue durability. To solve this problems, low-temperature and adhesive-free bonding are required. In this work, we develop a room temperature bonding process for polymer substrates using carbon nanotube heated by microwave irradiations. After depositing multiple-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) on PET polymer substrates, they are heated locally with by microwave while the entire bonding specimen maintains room temperature and the heating induces mechanical entanglement of CNT-PET. The room temperature bonding was conducted for a PET/CNT/PET specimen at 600 watt of microwave power for 10 seconds. Thickness of the CNT bonding joint was very thin that it obtains flexibility as well. In order to evaluate the mechanical reliability of the joint specimen, we performed lap shear test, three-point bending test, and dynamic bending test, and confirmed excellent joint strength, flexibility, and bending durability from each test.

Physical Properties Effect of Dry-Heat and Microwave-Cured Acrylic Resins depending on the Irradiation-Induced Changes (유도광선변화에 따른 건식중합과 마이크로파중합 아크릴레진의 물리적 성질영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to research the property change of acrylic resins depending on the induced-beam change and research the improved physical property of dry-heat and microwave-cured dental place acrylic resin in order to develop the acrylic resins with the optimum characteristic. As a result of observing flexural rigidity, hardness and color difference, the dry-heat-cured specimens of Vertex RS and Paladent 20 showed ideal property at 5, 15, and 25 kGy irradiation. The microwave-cured specimens of Vertex RS and Paladent 20 showed ideal property at 5 kGy irradiation. The correlation analysis showed a positive correlation among ARD, flexural rigidity (0 418), E coefficient (0.675) and Barcol hardness (0 588). The radiation cure technology is helpful for relieving the contamination caused by the manufacture of polymer composite. It can significantly contribute to the fusion of ultra violet cure technology and nano technology and the improvement of mechanical property without giving effect to the workability of polymer.

Effects of Sintering Additives on the Microwave Dielectric and Sintering Characteristics of (1-x)CaTiO$_{3}$-xLa(Zn$_{1}$2/Ti$_{1}$2/)O$_{3}$ (소결조제가 (1-x)CaTiO$_{3}$-xLa(Zn$_{1}$2/Ti$_{1}$2/)O$_{3}$계의 소결 및 마이크로파 유전특성에 미치는 영향)

  • (1-x)CaTiO/sub 3/-xLa(Zn/sub 1/2/Ti/sub 1/2/)O/sub 3/의 마이크로 유전특성을 조사하였다. x가 증가함에 따라 비유전율과 공진주파수의 온도계수는 감소하였으며, Qㆍf/sub 0/는 증가하였다. 그 결과 x=0.5인 (Ca/sub 0.5/La/sub 0.5/)(Ti/sub 0.75/Zn/sub 0.25/)O/sub 3/의 조성에서 ε/sub r/=51, Qㆍf/sub 0/=38,000 (at 7 GHz), τ/sub f/=+5ppm/℃의 유전특성이 나타났다. (Ca/sub 0.5/La/sub 0.5/)(Ti/sub 0.75/Zn/sub 0.25/) O/sub 3/조성의 소결온도를 저하시키기 위하여 Bi/sub 2/O/sub 3/를 주조성으로한 소결체를 첨가하여 소결 및 유전특성을 조사하였다. 1wt% 0.76Bi/sub 2/O/sub 3/-0.24NiO가 첨가된 경우 소결온도는 150℃ 낮아졌으며, 비유전율 (ε/sub r/), 공진주파수의 온도계수(τ/sub f), Qㆍf/sub 0/가 각각 50+5ppm/℃, 35,000인 마이크로파 유전특성이 얻어졌다. 또한 3wt%의 0.76Bi/sub 2/O/sub 3/-0.24NiO가 첨가된 경우 소결온도는 200℃ 저하되었고, 비유전율 (ε/sub r/)과 공진주파수의 온도계수 (τ/sub f)는 변하기 않았으나, Qㆍf/sub 0/값이 38,000에서 25,000으로 저하되었다.

  • Ag/polystyrene(PS) nanocomposites were prepared by in situ reduction of silver 2-ethylhexylcarbamate (Ag-CB) complex and follwing radical polymerization only by heating at 110 $^{\circ}C$. In contrast to this conventional heating method, the microwave irradiation afforded well-dispersed silver nanoparticles(NPs) in styrene monomer without polymerization. The synthesis of Ag NPs proceeded uniformly throughout the reaction vessel only under microwave irradiation, completing the reaction simultaneously in the whole reaction solution. Successive polymerization of the monomer containing the resultant NPs has successfully produced a hybrid of the silver NPs dispersed in PS matrix. Ag/PS (0.1/100) nanocomposites were prepared successfully by melt-mixing process using Ag/PS(4.0/100) as a master-batch. UV-VIS spectroscopy, TEM, and X-ray diffraction techniques were used to investigate the process of formation of Ag/PS nanocomposites.

  • Intracavitary brachytherapy combined hypertermin for utero-conical cancer seems to be a promising method for salvage treatments in persistent tumors and inoperable or previously irradiated cervical recurrences. In order to heat the vaginal apex and uterus, powerfull conical antennas which are suitable for afterloading cervical applicator have been designed for use in conjuction with intracavitary radiation therapy. The antennas were constructed with conical conductive material to feed line and the effective lenght were designed proportional to microwave length, Power deposition profiles of 2450 MHz of conical antennas were studied in both phantom models and muscle tissue and compared to those of commonly used dipole antenna. Improvement of the heating pattern was found in both phantom and muscle tissue. The heating pattern produced by the conical antenna resembles an ellipsoid and then the temperature distribution in depth was extended to $2\~3\;cm$ from the effective antenna axis.

Drying Boards of Populus alba×P. glandulosa in Conventional, High-Temperature and Microwave-Vacuum Kilns (은사시나무 판재의 열기건조, 고온건조, 마이크로파-진공 건조)

  • Flat-sawn 32 mm-thick boards of Populus alba×P. glandulosa, one of major plantation species in this country, were dried in conventional, high-temperature and microwave-vacuum (MW/V) kilns. The average green specific gravity of the specimens used in this study was 0.349±0.074. Their average green moisture contents of heartwoods and sapwoods were around 200% and 100%, respectively. From green to oven-dry they shrunk 2.4 and 7.3% in radial and tangential directions, respectively, and there was no discrepancy between heartwoods and sapwoods. It took 65, 35 and 22 hours to dry from green to 10% moisture content in conventional, high-temperature and MW/V kilns, respectively. A colorimetry study showed that the surface color of the specimens dried in a MW/V kiln was clearer and lighter than those in other kilns.

북극해 항로 검토를 위한 북극해빙 모니터링

  • 북극의 환경은 전 지구적으로 환경변화에 민감하다. 그중 해빙의 증가 및 감소는 지구의 온난화 진행의 지표로 작용을 한다. 본 연구에서는, 수동 마이크로파 센서인 AMSR-E를 이용하여 북극을 중심으로 북위 $60^{\circ}$ 이내의 지역에서 2002년$\sim$2009년 동안의 북극해빙 면적에 관한 데이터를 획득하고 북극 해빙 전체면적의 증가 및 감소에 관한 변화를 관측하였다. 추가로, 고해상도인 합성개구레이더를 이용하여 북극 다산기지 주변 해역에 대해 얻어진 데이터의 결과에 대해 고찰한다. 구체적인 연구 내용은 다음과 같다. 1. 북극 해빙 면적의 연변동 조사, 2. 북극 해역별 해빙 분포 특성, 3. 해빙 변동 특성 해석, 4. 향후, 활용 방향 소개: 온난화에 따른 북극 기후 변화, 북극 자원탐사 및 항로 개발 적용 방안, 5. SAR의 주파수별, 편파별 해빙 산란 특성 기초 조사 및 향후 활용 방향, 6. 북극 현장 관측 프로그램 소개.

Microwave Dielectric Properties of (Sr$_{1-x}$Bax)(Mg$_{1/3}$Nb$_{2/3}$)O$_3$ with SrWO$_4$ addition (SrWO$_4$가 첨가된 (Sr$_{1-x}$Bax)(Mg$_{1/3}$Nb$_{2/3}$)O$_3$의 마이크로파 유전특성)

  • SrWO4가 첨가된 (Sr1-xBax)(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3의 마이크로파 유전특성에 관하여 조사하였다. 관찰된 조성영역에서 Sr(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3과 Ba(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3은 (Sr1-xBax)(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3고용체를 형성하고 SrWO4의 첨가는 고용체의 소결성을 향상시켜 소결온도 155$0^{\circ}C$에서 상대밀도 97% 이상을 얻었다. 소결한 시편의 EDS분석결과, SrWO4의 첨가량이 많은 시편에서 2차상이 존재하는 것을 알수 있었다. 순수한 Sr(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3에 SrWO4를 0.01 mole첨가하여 1550~1$600^{\circ}C$에서 소결한 시편의 유전특성은 $\varepsilon$r 30, Q$\times$fo$\geq$55000,$ au$f -23 ppm/$^{\circ}C$이었다. 0.01 mole SrWO4가 첨가된 (Sr1-xBax)(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 고용체의 유전율과 온도계숙가 x에 따라 점차적으로 계속 증가하였고 Q$\times$fo는 x$\leq$0.25에서 x에 따라 감소하고 x$\geq$0.3에서 다시 증가하였다. (Sr0.65Ba0.35)(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3+0.01SrWO4의 조성을 갖는 시편에서 $\varepsilon$r 34.4, Q$\times$fo$\geq$55000,$\tau$f 0 ppm/$^{\circ}C$이었다.

  • The effects of glass addition on the low-temperature sintering and microwave dielectric properties of $BaO-Nd_2O_3-TiO_2$ dielectric ceramics were studied. When 10∼13 wt% of lithium borosilicate glass was added, the sintering temperature decreased from 130$0^{\circ}C$to 850-$900^{\circ}C$relative density of more than 97% was obtained. When the sample was sintered at $850^{\circ}C$ with 10 wt% of glass, the dielectric properties of $\epsilon_r{\ge}54$, $Q{\times}f_0{\ge}2300$, and $\tau_f{\ge}+8ppm/^{\circ}C$ were obtained.

  • Sintering behavior and dielectric peroperties of $xCaTiO_3-La(Zn_{1/2}Ti_{1/2})O_3$ system were investigated for better understanding of the microwave dielectric materials. In $xCaTiO_3-(1-x)La(Zn_{1/2}Ti_{1/2})O_3$ systems, solid solution type was focused as a function of composition(x=0.4-0.6) and sintered density. With increasing the sintered density, the relative dielectric constant was decreased and Q value was increased and then saturated. In solid solution type, dielectric constant was increased with increasing $CaTiO_3$ content. In $0.5\;CaTiO_3-0.5\; La(Zn_{1/2}Ti_{1/2})O_3$ case, dielectric constant(=48) and temperature coefficient of resonace frequency$(=-1 ppm/^{\circ}C$) were obtained.
