Analysis of Factors Influencing upon the Metro Wear Using the Classification and Regression Trees (CART 분석을 이용한 지하철 마모 영향인자 분석)

  • 일반적으로 레일마모는 열차의 주행안전 및 승차감에 미치는 영향이 크고, 소음 진동의 주요원인으로 작용한다. 또한 레일마모가 발생할 경우 궤도구조의 파괴를 촉진시킴으로써 차량 및 궤도유지보수비를 크게 증가시킨다. 따라서 구간 특성 및 환경 영향 인자 등 현장에서 발생하는 마모 원인을 체계적으로 분석함으로써 마모를 저감할 수 있도록 차량운행 조건과 선로선형 및 궤도구조를 설계하는 것은 중요한 과제이다. CART(Classification And Regression Tree; 분류와 회귀나무) 분석은 패키지화된 좋은 분류 및 예측도구 기법으로 나무의 상위 분리수준에서 일반적으로 나타나는 가장 중요한 입력변수들을 사용하는 등의 입력변수를 선정하는 경우 매우 유용하다. 본 연구에서는 다변수 구간특성 및 환경인자를 고려한 검측 자료 상관관계 분석을 위한 회귀 나무기반 모델(TBM: Tree Based Model) 분석 수행을 위해 지하철 2호선 마모 데이터와 마모 데이터에 영향을 미치는 각종 다변수 구간특성 및 환경인자를 사용하였다. 2호선 지하철의 구간특성 인자 및 환경인자는 레일의 종류, 레일의 위치, 도상, 곡률반경, 캔트 슬랙 및 운행 일수 등으로 구분하였다. 레일의 종류는 ks-50kg과 ks-60kg 두 종류의 레일이 있으며, 레일의 위치는 지상과 지하로 크게 구분할 수 있다. 도상은 콘크리트 도상, 자갈 도상과 일부 구간의 방진상 콘크리트 도상으로 구분할 수 있으며, 곡률반경은 직선구간과 완화곡선 구간 및 최소 250m부터 627m까지 분포된 원 곡선 구간으로 구분할 수 있다. 캔트 간격은 최소 96cm 부터 120cm 간격으로 구분하며, 슬랙은 5~9cm에 분포하고, 운행 기간은 해당 기간 동안 유지보수 이력이 없는 구간을 선정하여 2005년부터 2006년까지 4번에 걸쳐 검측된 지하철 2호선 내선 마모데이터를 사용하였다. 총 X1부터 X7까지 총 7개의 구간특성 또는 환경특성을 영향인자로 선정하였으며, 이러한 영향인자에 의해 결정되는 종속 인자로 Y1인 직마모와 Y2인 측마모를 선정하여 이 중 실질적으로 지하철 궤도의 성능 평가에 주요 판단인자로 사용되는 측마모와 구간특성 및 환경영향인자와의 상관관계 분석을 수행하였다. 해당 마모 데이터가 검측되는 기간 동안 유지보수 이력이 없는 12272 point의 데이터를 검출하였고 CART 프로그램을 이용하여 데이터를 분석하였으며, CART 프로그램의 해석을 위해 종속변수인 직마모량은 각 검측 지점의 마모량에 해당하는 등급으로 변환하여 분석을 수행하였다. 레일의 마모에 영향을 미치는 구간특성 및 환경인자와 종속 변수로 사용된 레일의 마모량 사이의 CART를 이용한 상관관계 분석은 실제 구조물에서 영향인자간의 상관 관계와 유사하며, 추후 연구에서는 이를 바탕으로 하여 정량화된 검측 데이터를 종속변수로 하여 구간특성 또는 환경인자 등 외부 영향인자를 고려한 궤도 검측데이터와의 상관관계 분석을 수행할 계획이다.

A Wheel Wear Analysis of Railway Vehicle on a Curved Section (곡선 구간에서 철도 차량 휠의 마모 특성 해석)

  • The wheel wear of a railway vehicle is mainly generated when maneuvering on a curved track. The change in the wheel profile affects the dynamic stability of the vehicle. In this analysis, the wheel wear volume was calculated while changing the velocity and radius of the curve to analyze the wear characteristics of a wheel at a curved section. The wear index was calculated from a vehicle dynamic analysis based on a multibody dynamics analysis and wear volume from a wear model by British Rail Research. The wear volume at a radius of 300 m is dominant compared with other radii. The wear volume was calculated by assigning different coefficients of friction to the tread and flange of the wheel to investigate the effect of lubrication on the wear characteristics. The effect of the improvement by lubrication is calculated by varying the radius of the track, and is assessed on an actual urban railway section.

  • This paper investigates fretting wear damage in aerospace, biomedical, and nuclear components. Experimental parameters are identified that affect fretting wear damage. The parameters observed in industries are directly compared. The magnitudes of frequency, relative displacement, and normal force are found to differ depending on the contacting components where fretting wear occurs. In addition, recent solutions to minimize fretting wear damage are reviewed. The solutions include depositing of a low-friction coating, surface treatment, selection of substrate material, and optimal design of contact geometries. This comparative study suggests useful methods and solutions for analyzing fretting wear damage and for designing tribo-components.

엔진 마모 및 손상의 원인과 처방

  • 일반적으로 상대운동을 하는 모든 물체에는 마찰이 존재하며 각 경우에 상응하는 적절한 윤활을 하고 있지만 마모(Wear)는 필연적으로 발생된다. 마찰 부위에 형성되는 마모정도에 따라 경 마모(Mild Wear), 평 마모(Normal Wear), 중 마모(Severe Wear) 등이 발생되며 이로인해 윤활유 속에는 다량의 마모 입자들이 존재하게 됨으로써 마모를 가속시키는 요인으로 작용하여 손상(Failure)의 원인이 되기도 한다. 마찰부위의 마모 및 손상은 엔진에서도 마찬가지로 그 수명 및 성능과 관계가 있고 경제적인 문제와 직결되므로 상세한 분석 및 평가가 요망된다. 또한 엔진 설계 및 원활한 작동유지를 위해서 정확한 마모 예측과 그 평가방법이 요구된다. 이를 토대로 엔진 손상을 미연에 방지할 수 있으며, 실제 설계과정에 마모정도를 고려한 가장 최적의 설계인자를 제공할 수 있다고 본다. 본 논문에서는 손상부위에서 발생가능한 여러가지 마모형태를 분류하여 그 특징을 정리하였고, 이를 바탕으로 실제 엔진의 마모 및 손상 등의 평가에 적용할 수 있는 엔진의 부품별 평가자료를 만드는데 주안점을 두었다.

  • Tire wear is one of the factors that most drivers have concerned and is closely related to the tire life. It is very difficult to predict tire wear because the factors affecting tire wear seem to be very comlicated. Tire wear test should be performed at real conditions for the evaluation of tire wear. In this study, we analyze tire wear according to the severities of test courses by using the dedicated test method, more severe than real driving conditions. In order to simplify the factors affecting tire wear, we define roads’ driving severities to be driving severity numbers, DSNs which are obtained by measuring the lateral accelerations of test courses. And we compared tire wear rates and profiles with DSNs. These test results can provide the tire design guide to meet tire wear performance.

Determination of Rock Abrasiveness using Cerchar Abrasiveness Test (세르샤 마모시험을 통한 암석의 마모도 측정에 관한 연구)

  • Abrasiveness of rock plays an important role on the wear of rock cutting tools. In this study, Cerchar abrasiveness tests were carried out to assess the abrasiveness of 19 different Korean rocks. Cerchar abrasiveness test is widely used to assess the abrasiveness of rock because of its simplicity and inexpensive cost. This study examines the relationship between Cerchar Abrasiveness Index (CAI) and mechanical properties (uniaxial compressive strength, Brazilian tensile strength, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, porosity, shore hardness of rock), and the effect of quartz content, equivalent quartz content, which was obtained from XRD analysis. As a result of test, CAI was more influenced by petrographical properties than by the bonding strength of the matrix material of rock. CAI prediction model which consisted of UCS and EQC was proposed. CAI decreased linearly with the hardness of the steel pin. Numerical analysis was performed using Autodyn-3D for simulating the Cerchar abrasiveness test. In the simulations, most of pin wear occurred during the initial scratching distance, and CAI increased with the increase of normal loading.

  • The barrel cam, which is a type of cylindrical cam, has been widely used as a part of index drive units for automatic manufacturing machines. The axis of rotation of the barrel cam is orthogonal to the axis of rotation of the follower. The index drive rotates or dwells depending on the cam profile, while the cam rotates with a constant velocity. Continuous sliding contact between the barrel cam and the follower surfaces causes wearing of the adhesive between them. This study shows that the contact force between two sliding bodies is responsible for the wear of the barrel cam in the paper-cup-forming machine. This contact force is calculated by using the multibody dynamics model of the paper-cup-forming machine. The analytical result is validated by comparing it to the actual wear spots on the real product.

  • The reliability of hydraulic equipment used in power plants is especially important because failures that occur in the power plant can have a great ripple effect on human lives and financial losses. In this study, specimens using the materials used in the spool and sleeve of hydraulic valves of power plants have been produced, heat-treated, and tested under the precipitation conditions of phosphate ester hydraulic fluid with a variety of conditions. 23 full factorial designs have been applied to evaluate the significance of factors that affect the wear loss of the specimen, specifically, the load, velocity, and temperature. The significance evaluation was performed on the main effects and two-way interactions for wear loss based on the experiment results, and the mathematical equations between the wear loss and the three factors were derived from the analysis results.

  • Ferrograms prepared from off samples collected during testing in the transition region were originally diluted at 20:1. To obtain some information about the effect of dilution on the analysis procedures, a series of measurements were made on ferrograms prepared to different dilutions in the range 6 to 30:1 from oil samples collected after testing in the four ball machine at the 51 kg and 55 kg load, respectively, Fig. 1. The variations in area covered, perimeter, intercept and particle count were then plotted as a function of dilution level and appropriate mathematical expressions established such that the results obtained at any dilution level specified within the range can then be corrected back to an equivalent undiluted value. The effect of dilution on the variance of the particle size distribution was also investigated. The main results are tabulated, Tables 1-5 and also plotted as a function of dilution, level Figs. 2-9.

  • Tooth wear is gradually increasing with increasing life expectancy. In particular, it is important to establish a treatment plan in the early stages so that it does not proceed to moderate or severe wear stages. It is essential to diagnose tooth wear accurately in order to plan a treatment for it. There are many risk factors including age, diet, and drugs which affects tooth wear. For the diagnosis of a tooth wear, appropriate index and evaluation method should be used. There were various tooth wear indices such as TWI, Lussi index, BEWE, and TWES. The evaluation method includes clinical examination, dental cast examination and clinical photographs. Recently, a 3D scanner is being used to assess tooth wear. The risk factors, tooth wear evaluation system, the methods of measuring tooth wear, and related literature were reviewed. The strengths and weaknesses of each index and evaluation methods were compared to derive a proper way to diagnose tooth wear.
