A Method to Predict Wear Depth Using Inversely Calculated Wear Constants from Known Wear Depth and Time (측정된 마모 깊이와 시간에 의해 역으로 계산된 마모상수를 이용한 마모 깊이 예측)

  • The wear of steam generator tubes is due to the vibration occurred between tubes and tube supporters. To predict the future wear depth, the wear constants of the impact and the sliding model is used. The wear constants, 3C/2 and K/3H, are found inversely from known wear depth and time. Using these constants, the future wear depths are found from two bodies that deform the elliptical shape. The results are compared with the measured wear depth of steam generator tubes in a nuclear power plant. The results show that the predicted wear depth envelopes the measured wear depth.

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the resistance to degradation and to compare the wear resistance characteristics of four esthetic restorative materials in an alkaline solution. The brands studied were Charmfil, Charmfil flow(composite resin), Compoglass F and PrimaFlow(compomer). The results were as follows: 1. The mass loss were not significantly different among the materials(p>0.05). 2. The sequence of the degree of degradation layer depth was in descending order by Compoglass F, PrimaFlow, Charmfil, and Charmfil flow. There were significant differences between Compoglass F and the others(p<0.05). 3. The sequence of the Si loss was in descending order by Charmfil flow, Charmfil, PrimaFlow, and Compoglass F. There were significant differences among these materials(p<0.05). 4. When observed with SEM, destruction of bonding between matrix and filler was observed and when observed with CLSM, the depth of degradation layer of specimen surface was observed. 5. The sequence of maximum wear depth was in descending order by Comfoglass, PrimaFlow Charmal, and Charmfil flow. There were significant differences among these materials(p<0.05). 6. The correlation coefficient between Si loss and degradation layer depth (r=0.602, p<0.05) Vicker's hardness number and maximum wear depth (r=0.501, p<0.05) were relatively high. These results indicate that wear and hydrolytic degradation may be considered to be evaluation factors of composite resins and compomers.

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the resistance to degradation and to compare the wear resistance characteristics of four esthetic restorative materials in an alkaline solution(0.1N NaOH). The brands studied were MetafilCX(Sun medical, Japan) Solitaire 2(Heraeus Kulzer, USA), Composan LCM(Promedica, Germany), DenFil(Vericom, Korea). The results were as follows: 1. The mass loss of each brand was 0.74~7.94% and highest value in Metafil($7.94{\pm}0.39%$). 2. The sequence of the degree of degradation layer depth was in descending order by Metafil, Solitaire 2, DenFil, Composan LCM. There were significant differences between Metafil and the others(p<0.05). 3. The sequence of the Si loss was in descending order by Metafil, Solitaire 2, Composan LCM, DenFil. There were significant differences among the materials(p<0.05). 4. On SEM, destruction of bonding between matrix and filler and on CLSM, the depth of degradation layer of specimen surface was observed. 5. The sequence of maximum wear depth was in descending order by Metafil, Solitaire 2, Composan LCM and DenFil. There were significant differences among the materials(p<0.05). 6. The correlation coefficient between Si loss and degradation layer depth (r=0.491, p<0.05) and Vicker's hardness number and maximum wear depth (r=-0.942, p<0.05) were relatively high. These results indicate that hydrolytic degradation and wear may consider as a evaluation factors of composite resins.

  • In this study TBM disc cutter prediction models including Gehring, CSM and NTNU models were investigated and the characteristics of the models were examined. The influence of penetration, uniaxial compressive strength and abrasiveness index on the models was analyzed. The life of disc cutter linearly increases with penetration per revolution and decreases with increasing uniaxial compressive strength of rocks. As the abrasiveness index, CAI, increases, the life of disc cutter in Gehring and CSM model decreases. On the contrary, the life of disc cutter life in NTNU model decreases with increasing CLI. Also, comparisons of predicted disc life were made between models using actual job site data.

  • In this study, wear characteristics and microstructure changes due to changes in alloy composition of Ni-Cr-Mo-V and Ni-Cr-Mo low-alloy steels used in brake discs for transportation system such as aircraft and high-speed trains. As a result of the hardness test, the hardness of C-Mo-V steel was the highest at 39.4±0.9HRc, and the hardness of Ni-Cr-Mo steel was the lowest at 32.4±0.6HRc. The friction coefficient tended to decrease as the vertical load increased. At a vertical load of 1 N, the friction coefficient of Ni-Cr-Mo steel was the highest at 0.842, and at a vertical load of 5 N, Mn-Cr-V steel was the highest at 0.696. Ni-Cr-Mo showed the largest wear scar width, depth, and wear amount, with a width of 711 ㎛, a depth of 8.24 ㎛, and a wear amount of 11 mg under a vertical load of 1 N, and a width of 1,017 ㎛, a depth of 19.17 ㎛, and a wear amount of 17 mg under a vertical load of 5 N. As a result of wear mechanism analysis, ploughing, delamination, and adhesion in all specimens, with plastic deformation being more prominently observed in Ni-Cr-Mo.

Methodology for Wear Prediction Considering the Gap between Tube and Support/Anti-vibration-bar in the Steam Generator (증기발생기 세관과 지지대 간극을 고려한 마모량 예측 방법론)

  • When the tube contacted to support, anti-vibration bar of the steam generator in nuclear power plant, the contact area is worn out by their relative displacement and contact force. Connors and Au-Yang found the relation between tube worn displacement and volume, or normal work rate at given gap size. The present analysis is obtained the relation between tube worn displacement and normal work rate at various gap size modifying Au-Yang's result. The results are compared with Connors and Yettisir and Pettigrew's results. The comparison shows that Yettisir and Pettigrew result is fairly good agreement with Connors and present results with gap clearance, 0.015in.

The resistance to degradation was evaluated on the basis of mass loss(%), degradation depth(${\mu}m$), Si loss(ppm) and wear depth. The brands studied were Heliomolar flow, Filtek supreme, Point4, Tetric flow. The results were as follows: 1. The sequence of the mass loss was in descending order by Heliomolar flow, Filtek supreme, Point4, Tetric flow. There was significant differences among the materials except Heliomolar flow and Filtek supreme. 2. The sequence of the degree of degradation layer depth was in descending order by Filtek supreme, Heliomolar flow, Tetric flow, Point4. There were significant differences among the materials except Heliomolar flow and Tetric flow. 3. The sequence of Si loss was in descending order by Filtek supreme, Heliomolar flow, Point4, Tetric flow. There were significant differences among the materials except Point 4 and Tetric flow. 4. The sequence of maximum wear depth was in descending order by Heliomolar flow, Point4, Fillet supreme, Tetric flow and there was increasing wear depth on soaking in 0.1N NaOH solution. 5. When observed with SEM, destruction of bonding between matrix and filler was observed and when observed with CLSM, the depth of degradation layer of specimen surface was observed. There results indicate that wear and hydrolytic degradation could be considered to be evaluation factors of composite resins.

  • MEMS capacitive gap sensor is developed for measuring abrasion depth of gun barrel rifling. Measuring abrasion depth of gun barrel rifling is very important because it is related with exactness of firing and life of arms. The method using a gap sensor is not to hurt rifling. And it can measure abrasion depth through minimum shooting, because the developed gap sensor can measure from $1{\mu}m{\sim}12{\mu}m$ using Polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS) material and making a stretchable electrode on PDMS. And it's resolution is 1 ${\mu}m$ using capacitive method and MEMS technology.

  • The major flow-induced vibration mechanisms such as fluid-elastic and turbulence excitation can cause the various types of wear of the steam generator tubes in unclear power plant. It is generally accepted that the tube wear due to vibration is affected by the presence of gap clearance between tube and support plate. Connors showed that the tube wear depth could be estimated by using the relationship between wear volume and sliding distance for contact time. Au-Yang predicted the wear depth by using the nonlinear characteristics of normal work rate to contact time. In this study the effect of gap size on the steam generator tubes wear is analyzed by deriving the wear depth versus normal work rate relationship from these previous results.
