A Study for Efficient Methods of System Calibration between Optical and Range Sensors by Using Simulation (시뮬레이션을 통한 광학 및 레인지 센서 간의 효율적인 시스템 캘리브레이션 설계)

  • The study planned to suggest the efficient methods of system calibration between the range and optical sensors. The simulation was performed by considering i) design of test-bed, ii) mathematical methods of system calibration and iii) locations of the sensors. The test-bed was designed by considering specifications of the range and optical sensors. Also, the error levels of each sensor were considered in the process of simulation with dataset, which was generated under these predetermined conditions. The system calibration was carried out by using the simulated dataset in two different approaches, which are single photo resection and bundle adjustment. The results from the simulation determined that the bundle adjustment method is more efficient than the single photo resection in the system calibration between range and optical sensors. For the better results, we have used the data, obtained in various locations. In a conclusion, the most efficient case was in sequence of i) the bundle adjustment with ii) the simulated dataset, which were obtained between 2m to 4m away from the test-bed.

  • 카메라 센서의 한계로 인하여 촬영 장면에 따라 한 번의 촬영으로 모든 영역의 밝기가 적절하게 촬영되지 않는 경우가 존재한다. 이러한 센서의 한계는 하이 다이나믹 레인지 이미징 기술을 통해서 극복이 가능하다. 한 장면을 다양한 노출 설정으로 여러 번 촬영하는 브라케팅은 움직이는 피사체를 찍기에 적절하지 않으며 촬영 시간이 길다는 단점이 있다. 본 연구는 한 번의 촬영으로 서로 다른 노출의 이미지를 얻을 수 있는 소형 라이트필드 카메라를 제안한다. 라이트필드 카메라는 대표적으로 두 가지 형태가 있는데, 첫 번째는 여러 대의 카메라를 어레이로 배치한 라이트필드 카메라 시스템이며, 두 번째는 대물렌즈 뒤에 마이크로 렌즈 어레이를 배치한 카메라이다. 본 연구에서 제작된 초박형 라이트필드 카메라는 센서 위에 마이크로 렌즈어레이가 부착되어있는 형태의 카메라로 각 렌즈 조리개 크기를 다르게 설계하여 한 번의 촬영으로 다른 노출의 촬영 결과를 얻을 수 있게 설계되었다. 촬영된 단일 영상들을 전처리 하여 이미지 품질을 높인 이후, HDR 알고리즘을 통해 각 단일 이미지들보다 다이나믹 레인지가 넓은 이미지를 획득하도록 구현하였다. 또한 노출 시간을 기준으로 설계된 식을 수정하여 조리개값에 따라 다른 가중치를 둘 수 있도록 바꾸었고, 이를 통해 단 한 번의 촬영을 통한 HDR 이미징을 구현하였다.

A signal processing technique for interferometric fiber-optic sensors (간섭형 광섬유센서의 신호처리 기법)

  • A signal processing technique for interferometric fiber-optic sensors is proposed. It does not require a any special optic components such as phase modulator, $3times3$ couplers,to obtain the full sensitivity of the interferometer. Instead, it requires a reference interferometer for phase referencing and a reference mirror for intensity referencing, but intensity referencing can be done without using the r reference mirror. The new technique utilizes the frequency chirping of the laser diode to process t the sensor signal with both wide dynamic range and high sensitivity of the interferometer. It was a applied to an internal-mirrored FP interferometric temperature sensor to obtain the system noise of $4\times10^{-3\circ}C$ from I cm FP Interferometor sensor device.

Spatial Resolution and Dynamic Range Enhancement Algorithm using Multiple Exposures (복수 노출을 이용한 공간 해상도와 다이내믹 레인지 향상 알고리즘)

  • The approaches to overcome the limited spatial resolution and the limited dynamic range of image sensors have been studied independently. A high resolution image is reconstructed from multiple low resolution observations and a wide dynamic range image is reconstructed from differently exposed multiple low dynamic range in es based on signal processing approach. In practical situations, it is reasonable to address them in a unified context because the recorded image suffers from limitations of both spatial resolution and dynamic range. In this paper, the image acquisition process including limited spatial resolution and limited dynamic range is modelled. With the image acquisition model, the response function of the imaging system is estimated and the single image of which spatial resolution and dynamic range are simultaneously enhanced is obtained. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional approaches that perform the high resolution and wide dynamic range reconstruction sequentially with respect to both objective and subjective criteria.

  • CCTV와 차량용 블랙박스 등의 영상기반 감시장비들로 사회안전망이 구축되고 있다. 하지만 디지털 영상 획득 센서는 실세계의 다이나믹 레인지를 온전히 감지하지 못한다는 한계점을 가지고 있는데 이로 인해 역광과 같은 특정 조명 조건하에서는 발생하는 움직임들을 감지하지 못하는 문제가 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 종래에는 HDR 이미지를 사용하는데, 움직임이 많은 영상에 적용하기 어렵다. 별도의 WDR 이미지 센서를 사용할 수도 있으나 가격이 비싸고 영상처리가 복잡하다는 단점이 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 프레임을 목표 다이내믹 레인지별로 그룹핑하고 프레임 그룹별로 노출시간을 달리하는 다중노출 방식을 제안한다. 이 방식에 따르면 어떤 조명 조건 상황에서도 물체의 변화를 모두 검출할 수 있으며 기존 이미지 센서와 영상 감지 시스템을 그대로 사용하기에 저비용으로 구현이 가능하다는 장점이 있다.

고기능 CMOS 이미지센서기술의 응용

  • 고기능 CMOS 이미지 센서는 현재 차재나 시큐리티 등의 응용을 목표로 실용화 개발이 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 그리고 정보통신으로의 응용도 가시광통신 등의 보급에 따라 이후 연구가 활발해질 것으로 생각된다. 바이오 의료 관계는 아직 연구단계에 있지만, 앞으로 고령화 사회가 도래할 것을 생각하면 필요한 기술이라고 할 수 있다. 단 실제 장착기술뿐 아니라 윤리적인 면도 포함하여 난제가 산재해있어 지금부터 착실한 연구개발이 필요하다. 앞으로의 발전에 기대가 된다. 본 고에서는 이러한 고기능 CMOS 이미지센서의 보고 예에 대해 차재.시큐리티 응용에서는 광다이나믹레인지화, 3차원거리계측에 대해, 정보통신기술응용에서는 광ID태그, 광무선LAN을 기술하겠다. 그리고 바이오의료응용으로서 바이오이미징과 인공시각에 대해서 서술하고, 마지막으로 앞으로의 전망에 대해서 정리하겠다.

  • In this paper, we discuss the tracking system for a wheelchair which can follow the path of a human target such as a nurse in hospital. The problem of human tracking is that it requires recognition of feature as well as the tracking of human positions. For this purpose the use of a high cost visual sensor such as laser finder or streo camera makes the tracking a high cost additional expense. This paper proposes the tracking system uses a low cost infrared range-finder and CCD camera, The Infrared range-finder and CCD camera can create a target candidate through each target recognition algorithm. and this information is fused in order to reduce the uncertainties of a target decision and correct the positional error of the human. The effectiveness of the proposed system is verified through experiments.

  • The use of infrared range-finder sensor as the environment recognition system for mobile robot have the advantage of low sensing cost compared with the use of other vision sensor such as laser finder CCD camera. However, it is not easy to find the previous works on the use of infrared range-finder sensor for a mobile robot because of the non-linear characteristic of that. This paper describes the error due to non-linearity of a sensor and the correction of it using neural network. The neural network consists of multi-layer perception and Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm is applied to learning it. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified from experiment.

  • The images captured by digital still cameras or mobile phones are not always satisfactory because the devices have limited dynamic ranges compared with that of the real world. To cope with the problems, tone mapping function based methods and retinex theory based methods are studied. However, these methods generate a halo artifact or limited enhancement of global and local contrasts. The proposed method estimates illumination information used for image enhancement by optimizing a dynamic range of input image. The estimated illumination information has smoothness characteristic where the luminance is flat and does not have where the luminance changes to prevent the halo artifact. Additionally, the estimated illumination information and surrounding pixel values are considered when the tone mapping function is applied to overcome the limitations of the conventional tone mapping function approach. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional methods on objective and subjective criteria.

Recognition of Gap between base Plates for Automated Welding of Thick Plates (후판 자동용접을 위한 용접물의 갭 측정)

  • Many automated welding equipment are used in the industry. However, there are some problems to get quality welds because of the geometric error, thermal distortion, and incorrect joint fit-up. These factors can make the gap between base plates in case of a thick plate welding. The welding product with the quality welds can not be obtained without consideration of the gap. In this paper, the robot path and welding conditions are modified to get the quality weld by detecting the position and size of the gap. In this work, a low-priced laser range sensor is used. The 3-dimensional information is obtained using the motion of a robot, which holds a laser range sensor. The position and size of the gap is calculated using signal processing of the measured 3-dimensional information of joint profile geometry. The data measured by a laser range sensor is segmented by an iterative end point method. The segmented data is optimized by the least square method. The existence of gap is detected by comparing the data with the segmented shape of template. The effects of robot measuring speed and gap size are also tested. The recognizability fo the gap is verified as good by comparing the real joint profile and the calculated joint profile using the signal processing.
