Improvement of efficiency ot Nd-type microchip laser by dissipative heat reduction (소모적 열감소에 따른 Nd형 마이크로칩 레이저의 효율 증가)

  • 대개의 Nd형 레이저 광소자는 $^4F_{5/2}$의 준위로 펌핑하여 양자효율이 떨어지며, 소모적 열의 발생으로 마이크로칩 레이저의 높은 펌핑 밀도에 의한 열발생을 유도한다. 그러나 $^4F_{5/2}$ 준위로의 직접 펌핑은 소모적 열발생을 획기적으로 줄일 뿐 아니라 이로 인한 레이저 발진 효율의 증가를 가능하게 하였다. Nd:LSB 마이크로칩 레이저의 경우 공진기 구성에 따라 6-11%의 기울기 효율이 상승하였다.

  • As a kind of application of laser propulsion, air-breathing laser-spike engine can be designed for aircraft in atmospheric flight. Laser-spike engine generates thrust using the blast wave induced by laser energy instead of combustion process. And this engine use air as propellant, therefore, it need no on board propellant. For experimental study, supersonic wind tunnel and spark generator were used. Flow visualization was performed using 2-dimensional laser-spike engine model And numerical simulation of the corresponding case for the experiment was done and compared with experimental case. Detailed results will be discussed at the presentation.

  • 본 논문에서는 레이저 광원을 적용한 무선전력전송 시스템에 적용되는 PV 모듈의 출력 특성을 분석하고, PV 모듈로부터 최대 전력을 발생시키면서 배터리를 충전시킬 수 있는 컨버터 개발 결과를 제시한다. 먼저, 특정 파장에서 최대전력이 발생되도록 개발된 PV 수신모듈에 레이저 빔을 조사하였고, 레이저에 공급되는 전력 크기에 따른 PV 모듈의 전압-전류의 특성 데이터를 확보하였다. 전압/전류 특성 데이터로부터 PV 수신모듈의 소신호 저항을 분석하였고, 이를 컨버터 회로모델에 적용함으로써 제어기 설계를 위한 시스템의 전달함수를 유도하였다. 이로부터 레이저 일사량에 따른 전류원/전압원 전영역에서 PV 모듈의 입력전압을 안정적으로 제어할 수 있는 제어기를 설계함으로써 레이저 수신용 PV 모듈이 최대 전력을 발생시킬 수 있도록 하였다. 본 논문에서 제안된 방법은 MCU 제어기반 25W급 배터리 충전용 부스트 컨버터의 프로토타입 제품을 통해 실험 검증되었다.

  • Semi-active laser missile systems with high accuracy are necessary to asymmetric threats, such as UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). They are usually used to attack stationary or slow moving targets, therefore we should study on the laser designator which can detect and track fast moving targets in order to deal with UAV. In this study, design specifications are came up through performance analysis of existing laser designators, and laser designation method for fast moving target is developed. The detection and tracking performance of developed laser designator are verified through inside/outside tests on ground/aerial stationary/moving targets. Through this study, we obtain laser designator techniques that could be applied to actual semi-active laser missile systems.

  • Focusing geometry dependence of output Stokes energy in single pass methane Raman shifter is investigated. The experimental result shows that the threshold energy decreases as confocal parameter increases. This result can be explained by gain suppression caused by Stokes - anti-Stokes coupling. In this paper, we give simple analysis for the focusing geometry dependence of Stokes - anti-Stokes coupling and present the criterion of confocal parameter to reduce the gain suppression. Focusing geometry dependence of stimulated Brillouin scattering is measured and the result is in good agreement with theoretical prediction.

  • 플라스틱 기판 위에 유도 결합 플라즈마 화학적 기상 증착장치 (Inductively Coupled Plasma Chemicai Vapor Deposition, ICP-CVD) 를 사용하여 실리콘 산화막 ($SiO_2$)을 증착하고, 엑시머레이저 어널링 (Excimer Laser Annealing, ELA) 과 $N_{2}O$ 플라즈마 전처리를 통해, 전기용량-전압(Capacitance-Voltage, C-V) 특성과 항복 전압장 (Breakdown Voltage Field) 과 같은 전기적 특성을 개선시켰다. 에너지 밀도 $250\;mJ/cm^2$ 의 엑시머 레이저 어닐링은 실리콘 산화막의 평탄 전압 (Flat Band Voltage) 을 0V에 가까이 이동시키고, 유효 산화 전하밀도 (Effective Oxide Charge Density)를 크게 감소시킨다. $N_{2}O$ 플라즈마 전처리를 통해 항복 전압장은 6MV/cm 에서 9 MV/cm 으로 향상된다. 엑시머 레이저 어닐링과 $N_{2}O$ 플라즈마 전처리를 통해 평탄 전압은 -9V 에서 -1.8V 로 향상되고, 유효 전하 밀도 (Effective Charge Density) 는 $400^{\circ}C$에서 TEOS 실리콘 산화막을 증착하는 경우의 유효 전하 밀도 수준까지 감소한다.

A Study on Measurement of NO Concentrations in Burner Flames by LIF (레이저 유도 형광법(LIF)을 이용한 버너 화염의 NO 농도측정에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, quantitative measurement of nitric oxide concentration distributions were investigated in the laminar CH4/O2/N2 premixed flame by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The NO A-X (0,0) vibrational band around 226nm was excited using a XeCl excimer-pumped dye laser. Selecting an appropriate NO transition minimizes interference from Rayleigh scattering and O2 fluorescence. The measurements were taken in CH4/O2/N2 premixed flame with equivalence ratios varying from $1.0{\sim}1.6$, and a fixed flowrate of 5slpm. NO was found to produce primarily between an inner premixed and an outer nonpremixed flame front, and total NO concentration is raised when equivalence ratios increase. These results suggest that prompt NO is likely to contribute to NO formation in CH4/O2/N2 premixed flame. Furthermore, this trend was well matched with previous works.

  • Arc-shaped line array slits have been used for the laser generation of focused Lamb waves. The spatially expanded Nd:YAG pulse laser was illuminated through the arc-shaped line array slit on the surface of a sample plate to generate the Lamb waves of the same pattern as the slit. Then the generated Lamb waves were focused at the point of which distance from the slit position is dependent on the curvature of slit arc. The proposed method showed better spatial resolution than the conventional linear array slit in the detection of laser machined linear defect and drill machined circular defect on aluminum plates of 1mm thickness.

  • The corrosion of metal specimens was analyzed in this study using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy. The samples used in the study were magnesium alloys and corrosion, and standard specimens were prepared and analyzed using surface and depth analysis. The spectral wavelengths used in the oxide layer analysis were 777.196 nm, 777.421 nm, and 777.543 nm. The spectral line of the surface corrosion was confirmed by experimentation, and surface micro morphology analysis was performed using an optical microscope. Approximately $100{\mu}m$ corrosion depth was confirmed via laser irradiation in the depth direction. The results of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy and the SEM-EDS analysis were compared and analyzed.

  • Fiber reinforced plastic material should be inspected in fabrication process in order to enhance quality by prevent defects such as delamination and void. Generally, ultrasonic technique is widely used to evaluate FRP. In conventional ultrasonic techniques, transducer should be contacted on FRP. However, conventional contacting method could not be applied in fabrication process and novel non-contact evaluating technique was required. Laser-based ultrasonic technique was tried to evaluate FRP plate. Laser-based ultrasonic waves propagated on CFRP were received with various transducers such as accelerometer and AE sensor in order to evaluated the properties of waves due to the variation of frequency. Velocities of laser-based ultrasonic waves were evaluated for various fiber orientation.
