Welding characteristics of Metal bellows using a pulsed Nd:YAG laser (펄스 레이저를 이용한 벨로우즈 용접특성에 관한연구)

  • Pulse laser welding was performed on C22 metal bellows. The results can be summarized as follows: Laser welded metal bellows had less thermal distortion, narrow HAZ, high aspect ratio in comparison with other welding processes like TIG, Plasma welding. Laser welded bellows has higher tensile strengths than that C22 base metal. The value of hardness in laser weld metal was measured 100-120 Hv, it was decreased compared to the base metal. It is reasoned that due to the annealed by heat input during the laser welding.

  • 환경 규제 및 배출가스 규제에 의하여 차량 경량화를 위해 점차적으로 Al합금의 차체 및 부품적용 비율이 점차 확대되고 있다. 이에 따라 알루미늄의 레이저 용접 시 출력, 초점거리, 용접 속도 등 공정 변수의 상관관계와 용접 결함 현상에 의한 관심이 집중된 연구가 많이 발표되었으며, 알루미늄 5000계열의 경우 박판 용접 시 기공, 균열 등 과 같은 결함 현상을 방지하기 위하여, Twin spot laser, Laser-TIG hybrid 등과 같은 공법 적용을 제안되었다. 본 연구에서는 Yb:YAG laser welding 시 Mg 함량이 높은 AA5J32을 소재를 이용하여 박판 겹치기 용접 시 Back side spiking 결함 방지를 위한 레이저 빔 출력 파형을 설계하여 실험을 수행하였다. 또한 파형의 특성에 따라 나타나는 겹치기 용접부의 기계적 특성과 기공에 대해 알아 보고자 하였다.

A Study on the $CO_2$ Laser Beam Welding of Thin Steel Sheets and Tailored Blanks - Between Similar Thin Sheet Materials - (박판의 $CO_2$레이저 빔 용접과 소재접합일체성형에 관한 연구- 동질 박판재간 -)

  • For the purpose of establishing laser welding condition (laser power, welding speed and beam focus) and of evaluating tailored blanks for two kinds of thin steel sheets SPCC and SK5M using in the thin plate structure such as automobile, train, and so on, investigated their $CO^2$ laser weldability under various initial welding conditions. SPCC thin sheet showed good weldability under some welding conditions. But, high carbon steel sheet SK5M needed heat treatment after welding to obtain ductility of the welded joint. And next, tailored blank was tested through deep drawing to evaluate reliability of their obtained laser welding conditions. The forming depths by tailored blank were SPCC+SPCC=22-25mm and SK5M+SK5M=13-25mm.

  • Hot-stamping is a method of obtaining ultrahigh-strength steel by simultaneously forming and cooling boron steel in a press die after it has been heated at $900^{\circ}C$ or above. After heat treatment, boron steel has a strength of 1500 MPa or more. This material ensures a high level of quality because it overcomes the spring-back phenomenon, which is a problem associated with high-strength steel materials, and the degree of dimensional precision is improved by 90 or more because of the good formability compared with existing types of steel. In this study, the welding characteristics were identified through the butt and lap welding of hot-stamped steel using a disk laser. Full penetration was obtained at a faster speed with butt welding compared to lap welding, and a white band was observed in every specimen.

  • Through welding fabrication, user can feel unsatisfaction of surface quality because of welded defects, Generally speaking, these are called weld defects. For checking these defects effectively without time loss effectively, weldability estimation system setup is an urgent thing for detecting whole specimen quality. In this study, by laser vision camera, catching a rawdata on welded specimen profiles, treating vision processing with these data, qualitative defects are estimated from getting these information at first. At the same time, for detecting quantitative defects, whole specimen weldability estimation is pursued by multifeature pattern recognition, which is a kind of fuzzy pattern recognition. For user friendly, by weldability estimation results are shown each profiles, final reports and visual graphics method, user can easily determined weldability. By applying these system to welding fabrication, these technologies are contribution to on-line weldability estimation.

  • Remote laser beam welding (RLW) has the benefits of high speed and high quality welding, especially as applied to automotive industry. RLW is designed in a way that end effecter and head of scanner move simultaneously, and require the compensation for the motion of end effecter in order to weld proper position. In this paper, we show the algorithms of RLW that enable the end effecter to synchronize with scanner based on time. The proposed method consists of two algorithms. These algorithms make it possible for the moving end effecter to weld on desired place. The effectiveness of the algorithms is shown by experiments.
