Although line printing technology is capable of high-speed and large area printing, residual stresses generated during the manufacturing process can deform the feedhole, causing nozzle plate crack or ink leaks. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new thermal inkjet print head that is robust, reliable and more suitable for line-printing. The amount of deformation of the conventional line printing head measured through the experiment was converted into an equivalent load, and the validity of the load estimation method was verified through FEA analysis. In addition, in order to minimize deformation without increasing the head size, the head structure was designed to increase internal rigidity by reinforcing the unit nozzle with a pillar or support wall or by adding a support beam or dry/wet etched bridge. The FEA analysis results show that the feedhole deformation was reduced by up to 90%, and it is confirmed that the suggested print head with dry etched feedhole bridge operates normally without nozzle plate cracks and ink leakage through fabrication.

Recently, the importance of the efficient production pipeline design has been increased for 3D animation, which becomes more delicate. In this paper, we propose 3D animation character development pipeline using 3D printing technology. We introduce 3D printing procedure into each step of the classical 3D animation and character development pipeline to incorporate the feed-back from the designer immediately. Specially, during the production step, we can find the design errors and minimize the period of production by using 3D printing of approximate shape of designed character. Using proposed method, eight DreaMegg characters were developed and their quality was very high with respect to 3D virtual graphics and real product. Using our method, high-quality 3D animation character can be developed with the minimized time and cost for development by reflecting the feed-back into production line from designers and researchers immediately.

어도비 애크로뱃 7.0의 출시와 PDF/X의 ISO 규격화 등에 의해 전 세계적으로 PDF에 의한 전자 데이터 입고가 증가되고 있다. 그러나 국내 출판 인쇄업계에서는 PDF/X에 대한 관심은 높아지고 있으면서도 여전히 PDF에 의한 데이터 입고는 소수에 불과하다. 이에 본지에서는 일본의 PDF 워크플로우의 실용화 현상과 가이드 라인 제정의 움직임에 대해 소개한다.

FOD란 Finish On Demand for documents and graphics solution의 약자로 인쇄, 출력, 라미네이팅, UV코팅 및 대형실사출력 등의 서비스를 고객이 요구하는 주문대로 신속히 제작, 완료하는 시스템 사업을 의미한다. 최근 서울 서초구 잠원동에 프린팅FOD 1호점을 오픈한 김양평 회장을 만나 이러한 사업을 구상하게 된 동기와 앞으로의 계획 등을 들어본다.

평균 3.4%인 오프라인 DM의 응답률은 앞으로 더욱 낮아질 수 있지만 하이테크로 무장한 각종 디지털 채널을 통한 마케팅 활동과 비교하면 여전히 높은 수준이다. 그렇지만 DM에 대한 ROI(투자수익률)의 가시적인 성과에 대해서도 차분히 따져볼 필요가 있다.

플렉소 인쇄란 오프셋, 그라비어, 레터프레스, 스크린과 같은 하나의 인쇄 방법이다. 플렉소 인쇄는 1890년도 영국에서 "아니린(Aniline)인쇄" 라는 이름으로 등장, 발전을 거듭해 1951년 미국에서 공식 명칭을 공모, 1952년에 이르러 현재 사용하고 "Flexography" 라는 명칭을 얻게 되었다.
