This article is an overview of the digital library project, indicating what roles Korea's diverse digital collections may play. Our digital library prototype has simple architecture, consisting of digital repositories, filters, indexing and searching, and clients. Digital repositories include various types of materials and databases. The role of filters is to recognize a format of a document collection and mark the structural components of each of its documents, We are using a database management system (ORACLE and ConText) supporting user-defined functions and access methods that allows us to easily incorporate new object analysis, structuring, and indexing technology into a repository.

DRM은 디지털콘텐츠의 지적재산권이 디지털 방식에 의해서 안전하게 보호. 유지되도록 하여 디지털콘텐츠의 창작에서부터 소비에까지 이르는 모든 유통 시점에서 거래규칙과 사용규칙이 지속적이고 적법하게 성취되도록 하는 기술이다. DRM은 디지털 형태로 유통되는 문서, 음악, 비디오, 게임, 소프트웨어, 이미지 등의 각종 디지털 콘텐츠를 불법 복제로부터 안전하게 보호하고, 콘텐츠 서비스의 유료화를 가능케 하는 기술 및 서비스를 말한다. 또한, 콘텐츠 자체와 보안과 저작권 보호뿐만 아니라 콘텐츠의 생성${\cdot}$유통${\cdot}$사용${\cdot}$관리에 필요한 모든 프로세스를 제어할 수 있게 해준다. 본 논문에서 구현된 기술은 암호알고리즘을 사용하여 함수의 위치 및 내용에 쉽게 접근할 수 없고 소프트웨어의 불법적인 분석 시도를 어렵게 하였다.

미네소타 에덴프레리에 소재한 스텔런트(www.stellent.com)는 최근 유니버셜 콘텐츠 매니지먼트 7.0을 발표했다. 이 제품은 하나의 공통 제품 아키텍처 내에서 문서 관리, WCM(웹 콘텐츠관리), 협업, 레코드 관리, DAM(디지털자산관리)을 통합하는 유일한 ECM(기업콘텐츠관리) 솔루션이다. 본질적으로 다른 기술들을 통합시킨 ECM 시스템을 활용한 최신 업그레이드 제품과 달리 이번에 내놓은 ECM 시스템 7.0 버전은 공 통 GUI(Graphical User Interface)와 공 통API(Application Programming Interface)를 통해 단일 서버에서 모든 애플리케이션 모듈을 지원한다는 게 회사측 설명이다.

지식 객체를 이용하여 멀티미디어 문서를 모델링하고, 학습과 추론 설비를 사용하여 사용자의 검색을 도와주는 Localized 에이전트(SiteHelper)를 비롯한 여러 가지 에이전트들을 이용하여 진보된 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 디지털 라이브러리 시스템을 디자인한다.

TheReviser is a digital document revision application on a projection display, which allows us to interact a digital document with the same gestures used for paper documents revision. To enable these interactions, TheReviser should detect foreground objects such as hands or pens on a projection display, and should spot and recognize gesture commands from continuous movements of a user. To detect foreground objects from a complex background in various lighting conditions, we perform geometry and color calibration between a captured image and a frame buffer image. TheReviser uses an HMM-based gesture recognition method Experimental results show that the proposed application recognizes user's gestures on average 93.22% in test gesture sequences.

본 논문에서는 일반책에서의 정적 컨텐츠 요소와 오디오나 동영상 등의 멀티미디어 요소를 디지털 형태의 정보로 가공 및 저장하여 전자북을 편집할 수 있는 전자 출판 시스템을 설계한다. 기존의 전자북들은 멀티미디어 요소들을 보기 위한 별도의 전용 뷰어 설치가 요구되며, 서로 다른 포맷이나 다양한 프로그램들로 제작되어 문서의 통합 저장 및 관리가 어려운 실정이다. 본 논문에서 설계한 시스템은 별도의 전용 뷰어 대신 익스플로어와 같은 일반적인 뭔 브라우저를 이용하는 웹 뷰어를 지원하고, XML을 사용하여 보다 효율적으로 정보의 통합 관리 및 저장을 지원함으로써 다양한 컨텐츠 정보의 고수준의 재사용성을 제공한다. 또한, 웹상에서의 멀티미디어 요소들의 표현 시 요구되는 동기화 처리 기술을 위하여 SMIL을 이용함으로써 보다 다양한 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 및 멀티미디어 요소들의 시간적, 이벤트 발생적 동기화를 지원하여 정보 전달의 이해도를 놀일 수 있도록 한다. 설계 시스템은 웹 상에서 전자북을 보기위한 웹 뷰어, 전자북 출판 시 텍스트와 멀티미디어 요소를 표현하는 XML과 SMIL문서를 각각 자동적으로 생성하는 XMLnSMIL 에디터, 생성된 각 문서들을 데이터베이스에 저장하기 위한 XMLnSMIL2DB 저장기, 데이터베이스 내의 데이터들로 부터 XML과 SMIL문서를 자동으로 생성하는 DB2XMLnSMIL 생성기 등으로 구성된다.

When digital libraries are developed by the traditional client/sever system using a single agent on the distributed environment, several problems occur. First, as the search method is one dimensional, the search results have little relationship to each other. Second, the results do not reflect the user's preference. Third, whenever a client connects to the server, users have to receive the certification. Therefore, the retrieval of documents is less efficient causing dissatisfaction with the system. I propose a new platform of mobile multiagents for a personal digital library to overcome these problems. To develop this new platform I combine the existing DECAF multiagents platform with the Voyager mobile ORB and propose a new negotiation algorithm and scheduling algorithm. Although there has been some research for a personal digital library, I believe there have been few studies on their integration and systemization. For searches of related information, the proposed platform could increase the relationship of search results by subdividing the related documents, which are classified by a supervised neural network. For the user's preference, as some modular clients are applied to a neural network, the search results are optimized. By combining a mobile and multiagents platform a new mobile, multiagents platform is developed in order to decrease a network burden. Furthermore, a new negotiation algorithm and a scheduling algorithm are activated for the effectiveness of PDS. The results of the simulation demonstrate that as the number of servers and agents are increased, the search time for PDS decreases while the degree of the user's satisfaction is four times greater than with the C/S model.

In the paper, we implemented a software system that encodes XML instance documents conforming to a schema document according to the MPEG-7 BiM compression method, and decodes the encoded documents vice versa. We designed software structures of BiM encoder and decoder as class hierarchies, and then implemented the structures. The implemented BiM encoder shows a compression ratio of 9.44% on the average. The BiM encoder is a general-purpose XML compressor that can encode any instance documents conforming to a schema document described in XML Schema language including the MPEG-7 schema. The BiM encoder thus can be used in many application fields including digital broadcasting environment, where encoding XML instance documents is needed.

The Meta Search system proposed in this paper is operated based on relevance distribution Infer mation(RDI). It first evaluates the sources applicable to the search, and then selects the most appropriate source. According to the evaluation of the sources, it discreetly collects the documents from the concerned sources and classifies them into a useful order based on the RDI, which is an evaluation score of the sources. The documents are classified into order and presented to the user as a single search result. For this Purpose, this study presents evaluation factor models to present the RDI between the query, and source, and proposes a method for drawing out the RDI based on the evaluation factors. The system for selecting the most appropriate sources according to the query has been developed based on an algorithm that selects the best source. Finally, after searching the documents suitable for query from extracted sources, we present a Meta Search system, HoleInOne, that ranks and merges them.

Recently, the construction of Digital Library is one of the hottest issues among librarians. This Study focused on how small libraries can produce digital data and construct Web database. In particular, the production and application of digital data, using PDF file, were described in detail.
