Analysis of Huawei's PCT Patent Applications (화웨이의 PCT 특허 출원 동향분석)

  • In this research, we aim to analyze the trend of Huawei's PCT patent applications. As a result of analyzing Huawei's PCT patents by dividing temporal spans into three periods - the early 2000s, the late 2000s, and the early 2010s -, the following characteristics have been observed. First, the number of PCT patent applications has conspicuously increased from the early 2000s to the late 2000s and this trend has continued during the early 2010s. Second, in terms of a core technological field, whereas Huawei focused on the development of technologies in the 'H04L: transmission of digital information' sector during the early/late 2000s, it changed this field to the 'H04W: wireless communication networks' sector during the early 2010s. Lastly, in the case of the patent maps, it was found that while general communications technologies, as expressed with such keywords as 'user' and 'network,' were actively developed during the early/late 2000s, mobile phone-related technologies grasped this leading position, as shown with the keywords including 'user equipment,' 'base station,' and 'MME,' during the early 2010s. It was also noticeable that Huawei filed LTE-related patent applications more actively than Apple and Samsung Electronics, which implies that it will presumably pioneer the global market more aggressively than its competitors in the future.

A Case Study on the Converting Journals to Open Access in the field of Library and Information Science and Archival Science in Korea (국내 문헌정보학 및 기록학 분야 학술지 오픈액세스 출판 전환 사례 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the current status and effects of open access conversion of journals from 7 societies that participated in the "Open Access Publication Declaration Academic Societies in the Field of Library and Information Science", and to identify problems and suggest improvement directions. To this end, the study analyzed the current status based on the elements presented in the "Roadmap for Open Access Publishing Conversion of the Library and Information Science Journals in Korea" and analyzed citation rates. The following problems were identified. First, some journals were not applying CCL or were unable to register it accurately with KJCI, and none of the 7 journals were registered with DOAJ. Second, the newly used journal platforms had not yet registered all previous issues after the conversion. Third, there was a tendency for the article processing charges to be partially increased, and there was also a tendency for editorial staff expenses to increase. Fourth, citation indexes after conversion were lower for both journals compared to the previous 4-5 years. This study proposes that joint publication of journals is necessary to solve practical problems jointly with societies while promoting economies of scale and suggests the need for further development of a roadmap.

  • Recently, the 4th industrial revolution has emerged as the core for enhancing national competitiveness, the development of a technology roadmap to efficiently develop related technologies to realize super intelligence as a main feature of the 4th Industrial Revolution is a major task has been highlighted. The objective of this study is to analyze the domestic and foreign technology level in the artificial intelligence field which is the core technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution era and to present the direction of development based on this. The keyword network analysis and the blank technical analysis based on the IPC classification were performed on the data derived from the keyword search of 'AI (Artificial Intelligence)' among domestic and foreign patent data. As a result, the number of domestic artificial intelligence related technology development was 1.2% compared with developed countries such as USA and Europe. In the major development fields, data recognition technology and digital information transmission technology were relatively insufficient. Through this study, we obtained the blank technology as a result of comparative analysis of domestic artificial intelligence related technologies compared to advanced countries and suggested the direction of domestic artificial intelligence technology development in future.

  • The development of information technology grows the society and allows the user to generate more information and the requirements. According to recent growing interest in digital convergence technologies, digital convergence can be utilized by a variety of methods as a new study. Electronic culture atlas would be digitized cultural information that represents a particular area on the map. In detail, spatial data like as point, line, and area can be used to represent the culture information. Using electronic culture atlas, also, it is possible to provide and utilize information which is associated with time, space(map) and subject(culture). Thus, electronic culture atlas could be used as a method for the humanities or area studies and spread research results by displaying on the culture atlas. In general, existing electronic culture atlas used bitmap image mostly as a base map. Using bitmap image, it is difficult to represent to provide three-dimensional information of specific area. Also, it happens problem such as breakage occurs during zoom-in operation. To solve this problems, we design and implement electronic culture atlas based on Google Earth which is three-dimensional map service.

  • Aerial scene is greatly increased by the introduction and supply of the image due to the growth of digital optical imaging technology and development of the UAV. It has been used as the extraction of ground properties, classification, change detection, image fusion and mapping based on the aerial image. In particular, in the image analysis and utilization of deep learning algorithm it has shown a new paradigm to overcome the limitation of the field of pattern recognition. This paper presents the possibility to apply a more wide range and various fields through the segmentation and classification of aerial scene based on the Deep learning(ConvNet). We build 4-classes image database consists of Road, Building, Yard, Forest total 3000. Each of the classes has a certain pattern, the results with feature vector map come out differently. Our system consists of feature extraction, classification and training. Feature extraction is built up of two layers based on ConvNet. And then, it is classified by using the Multilayer perceptron and Logistic regression, the algorithm as a classification process.

  • Many social and environmental changes emerged by the increasing of the number of the aged to entrance the aged society. This study explored the current supply status on Contents Technology R&D(research and development) of CT ministries and market policies(senior friendly industry) targeting to elderly consumers and the needs and demand of elderly generation to knowledge information technology. In, 2008, Ministries announced the sixth category of CT R&D's fundamental planning. The 'public culture service' to elderly and handicapped person is one of CT R&D category. This study investigated the information technology participation(internet participation rate, blog and internet cafe commitment) and contents technology to the elderly. The research indicated the desired needs of elderly consumers are creativity contents, emotional & experience and communication needs. These three factors of CT R&D to elderly consumers meets the needs non-game factors such as health, economic stability and information seeking in entertainment game.

  • Vehicle dynamic states used in various advanced driving safety systems are influenced by road geometry. Among the road geometry information, the vehicle pitch angle influenced by road slope and acceleration-deceleration is essential parameter used in pose estimation including the navigation system, advanced adaptive cruise control and others on sag road. Although the road slope data is essential parameter, the method measuring the parameter is not commercialized. The digital map including the road geometry data and high-precision DGPS system such as DGPS(Differential Global Positioning System) based RTK(Real-Time Kinematics) are used unusually. In this paper, low-cost cascade extended Kalman filter(CEKF) based road slope estimation method is proposed. It use cascade two EKFs. The EKFs use several measured vehicle states such as yaw rate, longitudinal acceleration, lateral acceleration and wheel speed of the rear tires and 3 D.O.F(Degree Of Freedom) vehicle dynamics model. The performance of proposed estimation algorithm is evaluated by simulation based on Carsim dynamics tool and T-car based experiment.

Anti-Jamming Performance of Chaos Communications System Using DCSK and CDSK Modulation Method (DCSK와 CDSK 방식을 사용하는 카오스 통신 시스템의 항재밍 특성)

  • Digital communication technology have been focused on the higher data efficiency and the effective coding of information. Also, it is very important to improve security and minimize the interference of the external sources, Chaos communications system is studied to improve security and minimize the interference by effective encoding of information in the nonlinear systems such as DCSK(Differential Chaos Shift Keying) and CDSK(Correlation Delay Shift Keying). In this paper, we evaluate anti-jamming performance of chaos communications system using the DCSK and CDSK system. The simulation results show that the Gauss iterated map has better BER performance than the other maps(tent map, logistic map, Henon map). Also, DCSK and CDSK system can get the better anti-jamming performance by applying different chaotic maps.

A GPU-enabled Face Detection System in the Hadoop Platform Considering Big Data for Images (이미지 빅데이터를 고려한 하둡 플랫폼 환경에서 GPU 기반의 얼굴 검출 시스템)

  • With the advent of the era of digital big data, the Hadoop platform has become widely used in various fields. However, the Hadoop MapReduce framework suffers from problems related to the increase of the name node's main memory and map tasks for the processing of large number of small files. In addition, a method for running C++-based tasks in the MapReduce framework is required in order to conjugate GPUs supporting hardware-based data parallelism in the MapReduce framework. Therefore, in this paper, we present a face detection system that generates a sequence file for images to process big data for images in the Hadoop platform. The system also deals with tasks for GPU-based face detection in the MapReduce framework using Hadoop Pipes. We demonstrate a performance increase of around 6.8-fold as compared to a single CPU process.

Scleral Diagnostic System Implementation with Color and Blood Vessel Sign Pattern Code Generations (컬러와 혈관징후패턴 코드 생성에 의한 공막진단시스템 구현)

  • The paper describes the scleral diagnostic system implementation for human eyes by using the scleral color code and vessels sign pattern code generations. The system is based on the high performance DSP image signal processor, programmable gain control for preprocessing and RISC SD frames storage. RGB image signals are optimized by PGC, the edge image is detected form the gray image converted. The processing algorithms are executed by scleral color code generation and scleral vessels sign pattern code creation for discriminating and matching. The scleral symptomatic color code is generated by YCbCr values at memory map tolerated and the vessel sign pattern code is created by digitizing the 24 clock and 13 ring zones, overlay matching and tolerances. The experimental results for performance are that the system runs 40ms, and the color and pattern for diagnostic errors are around 20% and 24% on average. The system and technique enable a scleral diagnosis with subdividing the patterns and patient database.
