The purpose of this study is to develop and prove service quality measurement model and indicators which are able to measure objectively service quality of digital libraries in Korea. Literature review and Delphi survey are used to investigate service quality dimensions. User perceived service quality performance was measured to validate DL-SQI model with three digital libraries. Finally DL-SQI(Digital Library-Service Quality Index) model was developed which is composed of four primary dimensions. The survey results reveal that reliability coefficient is 0.8 which means high reliability of survey and it suggests that DL-SQI model based on the above dimensions is proved through confirmatory factor analysis.

This study is to develope the usability evaluation criteria for improving quality of user services in digital library website. It compared and analyzed major eight studies concerning usability evaluation of library website in foreign and domestic. This paper was suggested 36 items of evaluation criteria that are belongs to six domain(quality of links, feedback mechanism, accessibility, design, navigation and searching). Usability evaluation criteria for digital library websites suggested in this paper is a item-based level, and to observe generally.

디지털도서관은 디지털로 표현된 음성, 화상, 문서 등 다양한 유형의 정보들이 통신망을 통하여 손쉽게 전급하고 원하는 형태로 표현할 수 있는 새로운 개념의 도서관이다. 우리는 분산 환경에서 도서관 모델을 연구해 왔고 디지털도서관 내부에 분산되어 저장된 데이터(내부데이터)를 검색하고 이용할 수 있는 DLInfra를 구현했다. 본 논문에서는 기존 DLInfra 구조의 수정 없이 외부서비스 제공자가 제공하는 외부데이터를 관리 및 검색할 수 있는 확장된 구조를 제안한다. 이를 위하여 외부 데이터를 검색 및 등록하기 위하여 프로토콜 게이트웨이와 외부데이터 등록 에이전트 설계 및 구현하였다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the information service and the design of the information system of LG Science Land and NSDL which was designed as Integrated Information System in Science Digital Library for youth. After that, the requirement and inclination of the system user was analyzed through on-line questionnaire and finally the Subjective-Oriented Directory System was modified in detail as improvement issue of the system. We propose semantic model that is possible to apply for the bibliographic metadata of domestic digital library by analysing bibliographic metadata models like MARC, DC, MODS, JeromeDL's metadata model MarcOnt as the representative case of semantic digital library and FRBR model as the conceptual model.

The purpose of this study is to portray the current condition of digital reading rooms in public libraries in specific terms of information resource constituencies. With the growth in numbers of public libraries in Korea, emphasis was also put on digital information services using digital reading rooms in public libraries. However, it is also recognized that these digital reading rooms are merely traditional reading rooms with equipment. In this regard, the objective for the study was to identify and describe the types of electronic information resources in order to determine the rationale for the development of digital information resource management in public libraries. The focus was especially put on investigating the quality and the degree of perceived importance of electronic resources. Data for this case study was collected from four relatively big public libraries in three cities. The investigation was conducted by the document reviews and surveys and interviews with librarians and patrons. The study found that digital resource management should be put on a new stage, especially in terms of education and reliable information for the regional community. The study also added some suggestions for the future development and refinement of electronic resource management in public libraries.

To understand current state of the digital reference services in Korean academic libraries. a comprehensive examination and analysis was performed. Data was collected from July 8, 2003 to July 22, 2003, through direct site examination and recording the question and answer transcripts. The analysis focused on the provision characteristics and use of the digital reference services. Results revealed interesting findings and related problems. Suggestions for future development are provided.

This study proposes to identify digital library services applying cutting-edge technologies, and attempt to investigate the applicability of these technologies and services to domestic libraries. To this end, we reviewed main research which discusses next generation digital libraries, and examined thoroughly main technologies which can be applied to future libraries. As a result, the core technologies, concepts, and tools of the next generation of digital library are: cloud services, space for infinite creating (makerspace), big data, augmented reality, context-aware technologies, Google-glass, a revolutionary display technology, open linked-content-offering method, and so on. Specific cases of libraries already utilizing these technologies are also discussed.

본 연구는 XML기반 디지털도서관 구현을 위한 선행연구로서, 디지털도서관의 출현과 MARC 포맷의 이용현황에 관한 이론적인 검토와 MARC에서 XMLMARC로의 변환 사례를 검토하였다. 또한 XML기반 디지털도서관 통합서비스를 실천하려면, MARC 데이터의 표준 서지 생성, 웹 자원을 포함한 데이터의 자동생성, 벤더와의 데이터 교환, ILS에서 ILS로의 데이터 교환 환경의 구축이 선행되어야 함을 제안하였다.

For a library to be run more efficiently, its internal strengths and weaknesses, external opportunities and threats must be determined for forecasting on the basis of the diagnosis of the internal and external environment and situations, and optimum strategies and measures responsively deducted and utilized. Therefore, I had analyzed the strategic competition of university A's library using SWOT analysis, which has recently been spotlighted as an effective strategic competition analysis method. The conclusions thus obtained are as explained below. Firstly. the strengths of university A's library are the professional qualifications of the employees. work efficiency based on systematic operative plans and division of work load, and provision of high quality service following the establishment of the digital library. Secondly, its weaknesses are the insufficiency and limits of the usable resources, the lack of progressive future operation plans and systems, and the deficiency of a positive service mind. Thirdly, the opportunities are the possibility for new developments in accordance with the digital information environment. reinforcement of the operative efficiency throughout expanding its cooperation with external organizations and other libraries, and its transformation as the local library hub by opening up to the public. Fourthly, the threats are the lack of the school authorities' acknowledgement. and the degradation of the library's status in accordance, the users' various requests for information and advanced professional service according to the rapidly changing information environment. and the restriction of the library service based on the copyright law. Fifthly, as a result of analyzing the strategic competition of university A's library, measures such as the reinforcement of digital service by acquiring digital specialists. provision of extended service through active cooperation with external institutes and libraries. development and provision of differentiated service in accordance with the reinforced copyright law were proposed to improve the library's future competitiveness.
