디젤오염토양의 TPH 분해를 위한 마이크로파의 가열특성 (Enhanced TPH Degradation of Diesel-Contaminated Soil by Microwave Heating)

  • The application of microwave technology has been investigated in the remediation of diesel-contaminated soil. The paper deals with economic assessment by means of cost analysis and degradation characteristics at different microwave powers for total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) in diesel contaminated soils. The soils from S Mountain around the D University were sampled. The samples were screened with 2.0 mm mesh and dried for 6 hours before the diesel was added into the dried soils. The diesel-contaminated soil (3,300 mg THP/kg soil) was prepared with diesel (S Co.). The drying process was carried out in a microwave oven, a standard household appliance with a 2,450 MHz frequency and 700 W of power. The experiments were conducted from 0 to 20 minutes as the microwave powers increased from 350W to 500W to 700W. The concentrations of TPH were analysed using a gas chromatography/mass spectrometer (GC/MS). The initial concentration of TPH was 3,300 mg TPH/kg soil. The weight of contaminated soil was 200g. The concentration of TPH was decreased to 1,828 mg TPH/kg soil (44.7%), 1,347 mg TPH/kg soil (59.2%) and 1,014 mg TPH/kg soil (69.3%) at 350W, 500W and 700W for 15 minutes respectively. In addition, the curve was best fit with first order kinetics using the least-square method. The ranges of a first order rate constant k and r-square were $0.0298{\sim}0.0375min^{-1}$ and $0.9373{\sim}0.9541$ respectively.

  • 고체산화물형 연료전지는 높은 효율과 친환경적 특성을 가지고 있어 선박에 의한 대기 오염의 주 원인인 디젤 엔진을 대체할 수 있는 동력원으로 주목 받고 있다. 고체산화물형 연료전지의 높은 작동 온도는 고효율과 다양한 연료를 사용할 수 있고 고가의 촉매를 사용하지 않아도 되지만 고열에 의한 시스템의 손상이 발생할 수 있다. 따라서 고성능과 신뢰성을 확보하기 위해 온도제어기가 설계되어야 하고 시스템에 적용하기 전 제어기의 성능이 검증되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 많은 비용과 시간을 필요로하는 전통적인 제어기 성능 검증 방식 대신에 Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation 방식을 활용한 성능 검증 시스템을 개발하였고 고체산화물형 연료전지 시스템에 대한 온도제어기의 성능을 검증하였다.

디젤로 오염된 토양의 효과적인 Bioventing

  • In this work, cost effective venting is considered by comparing flow rates of 5$m\ell$/min, 10$m\ell$/min, and 20$m\ell$/min. Studies were performed on a soil artificially contaminated with diesel oil (the initial TPH(Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon) concentration of 7098mg/kg), and nutrient condition was C:N:P rate of 100:10:1. The soil has a sandy texture with pH of 6.8, 2.16 ~2.38% organic matter, a total porosity of 47~52% and field capacity 16.2~ 17.2%. The column experiments was made of glass column of 60cm length and 10cm I.D. at controlled temperature of 2$0^{\circ}C$($\pm$2.5$^{\circ}C$). The efficiency of continuous flow rate of 5, 10 and 20$m\ell$/min resulted in separately 61.3%, 58.1%, and 55% reduction of initial TPH concentration(7098mg/kg). Hydrocarbon utilizing microbial count and dehydrogenase activity in air flow of 5$m\ell$/min were higher than those of the others. The first order degradation rate of n-alkanes ranging from C10 to C28 was higher than that of pristane and phytane as isoprenoids. The $C_{17}$/pristane and $C_{18}$phytane ratios for monitoring the degree of biodegradation were useful only during the early stages of oil degradation. Degradation contributed from about 89% to 93% of TPH removal. Volatilization loss of diesel oil in contaminated soil was about 7% to 11%, which was significantly small compared to degradation.n.

습식 스크러버의 분무유량, 형상비 및 충진율 변화가 스모크 저감에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Spray Flow Rate, Aspect Ratio, and Filling Rate of Wet Scrubber on Smoke Reduction)

  • 산업혁명과 함께 급격히 증가한 화석연료의 사용은 기존에 없었던 다양한 대기오염의 원인이 되었다. 특히 NOx와 SOx의 경우 산성비, 광화학 스모그의 원인이 되어 지속적인 규제와 그에 따르는 저감 노력이 이루어지고 있는데, 가장 대표적인 방법이 습식 스크러버 시스템이다. 본 연구에서는 3298cc 상용 디젤기관에 습식 스크러버 시스템을 적용하여 스크러버 형상비, 내부 충진율, 세정수 분무유량, 엔진 부하 조건을 달리하며 스크러버 전후의 스모크 저감률을 측정하였고, 이를 이용하여 스크러버의 최적 형상 및 충진율을 확인하였다. 실험결과 충진재 투입에 의한 큰 스모크 저감률 향상을 확인하였고, 형상비 및 세정수 분무유량 또한 스모크 저감률 향상에 영향을 미치는 인자임을 확인하였다.

철도디젤차량에서 배출되는 오염물질의 배출량 산정방법 개발 (Development of Estimation Methods of Pollutant Emissions from Railroad Diesel Rolling Stocks)

  • Up to the present time, many methods to estimate emissions from a particular diesel engines have wholly depended on the quantity of diesel fuel consumed. Then, the recommended emission factors were normalized by fuel consumption, and further total activity was estimated by the total fuel consumed. One of main purposes in the study is newly to develop emission factors for the railroad diesel rolling stock (RDRS) and to estimate a total amount of major gaseous pollutants from the RDRS in Korea. Prior to develop a Korean mode emission factor. the emission factor from the USEPA was simply applied for comparative studies. When applying the USEPA emission factors, total exhaust emissions from the RDRS in Korea were estimated by 28,117tons of NOx, 2,832.3tons of CO, and 1,237.5tons of HC, etc in 2001. In this study, a emission factor for the RDRS, so called the KoRail mode (the Korean Railroad mode) has been developed on the basis of analyzing the driving pattern of the Gyeongbu-Line especially for the line-haul mode. Explicitly to make the site specific emission factors, many uncertainty problems concerning weighting factors for each power mode, limited emission test, incomplete data for RDRS, and other important input parameters were extensively examined. Total exhaust emissions by KoRail mode in Korea were estimated by 10,960tons of NOx, and 4,622tons of CO, and so on in the year of 2001. The emissions estimated by the USEPA mode were 2.6 times higher for NOx, and 1.6 times lower for CO than those by the KoRail mode. As a conclusion, based on the emission calculated from both the USEPA mode and the KoRail mode, the RDRS is considered as one of the significant mobile sources for major gaseous pollutants and thus management plans an(1 control strategies for the RDRS must be established to improve air quality near future in Korea.

디젤오염토양 복원 효율 증진을 위한 음이온/비이온 계면활성제 토양세척공정에 초음파 적용 영향 (The Effect of Ultrasound Application to Anionic/Non-ionic Surfactant Aided Soil-washing Process for Enhancing Diesel Contaminated Soils Remediation)

  • Ultrasound and Surfactant aided soil washing process has been shown to be an effective method to remove diesel from soils. The use of surfactants can improve the mobility of diesel in soil-water systems by increasing solubility of adsorbed diesel into surfactant micelles. However, a large amount of surfactant is required for treatment. In addition, synthetic surfactants, specially anionic, are more toxic and the surfactant wastewater is hard to treat by conventional wastewater treatments even by AOPs. Ultrasound improves desorption of the diesel adsorbed on to soil. The mechanisms are based on physical breakage of bonds by hot spot, directly impact onto soil particle surface, the fragmentation of long-chain hydrocarbons by micro-jet and microstreaming in the soil pores. The use of ultrasound as an enhancement method in both anionic and nonionic surfactant aided soil-washing processes were studied. And all experiments were examined proceeded under CMC surfactant concentration, frequency 35 khz, power 400 W, Soil-water ratio 1:3(wt%), particle size 0.24 ~ 2mm and initial diesel concentration. 20,000 mg/kg. Combination with ultrasound showed significant enhancements on all the processes. Especially, nonionic surfactant Triton-X100 with ultrasound showed remarkable enhancements and diesel removal rate enhanced by ultrasound helps desorpting of surfactant adsorbed onto soils which prevented decreasing surfactant activity.

디젤로 오염된 군부대 토양에 대하여 토착미생물 4종을 이용한 생분해법의 TPH 제거 효율 규명 (TPH Removal of the Biodegradation Process Using 4 Indigenous Microorganisms for the Diesel Contaminated Soil in a Military Camp)

  • Batch experiments using indigenous and commercialized adventive microorganisms were performed to investigate the feasibility of the biodegradation process for the diesel contaminated soil, which was taken in US Military Camp 'Hialeah', Korea. TPH concentration of the soil was determined as 3,819 mg/kg. Four indigenous microorganisms having high TPH degradation activity were isolated from the soil and by 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, they were identified as Arthrobacter sp., Burkholderia sp., Cupriavidus sp. and Bacillus sp.. Two kinds of commercialized solutions cultured with adventive microorganisms were also used for the experiments. Various biodegradation conditions such as the amount of microorganism, water content and the temperature were applied to decide the optimal bioavailability condition in the experiments. In the case of soils without additional microorganisms (on the natural attenuation condition), 35% of initial TPH was removed from the soil by inhabitant microorganisms in soil for 30 days. When the commercialized microorganism cultured solutions were added into the soil, their average TPH removal efficiencies were 64%, and 54%, respectively, which were higher than that without additional microorganisms. When indigenous microorganisms isolated from the contaminated soil were added into the soil, TPH removal efficiency increased up to 95% (for Bacillus sp.). According to the calculation of the average biodegradation rates for Bacillus sp., the remediation goal (87% of the removal efficiency: 500 mg/kg) for the soil would reach within 24 days. Results suggested that TPH removal efficiency of biodegradation by injecting indigenous microorganisms is better than those by injecting commercialized adventive microorganisms and only by using the natural attenuation.

디젤오염토양의 Bench Scale 처리에 있어서 벤팅모드 비교 (Comparison of Venting Modes for Bench Scale Treatment of Diesel Contaminated Soil)

  • Bioventing efficiency was compared in a continuous and an intermittent(6hr injection and 6hr rest) air injection mode. Two lab-scale columns which packed with 5 kg of soil artificially contaminated by diesel oil were operated. The columns were maintained at the $25^{\circ}C{\pm}2.5$ in order to minimize the effect of exterior temperature variation. The flow rate of air injection mode were maintained constantly at the flow rate of 10 ml/min. The moisture of the columns was stably maintained at $60{\sim}80%$ of field capacity. The nutrient compounds were added to make C:N:P ratio as 100:10:l. The continuous and intermittent injection modes showed 67.56% and 69.63% reduction of initial TPH concentration during 90 days, respectively. Two venting modes showed similar results in the analysis of the trends of the hydrocarbon utilizing bacterial counts for operating periods. The carbon dioxide production rate of the continuous injection mode was higher than that of intermittent injection mode. The loss of diesel oil by volatilization in the continuous and intermittent injection modes were about 5% and 1%, respectively. The lower volatilization loss in the intermittent injection mode suggested that the biodegradation of TPH in the intermittent injection mode was greater than that of the continuous mode. These results suggested that the intermittent injection mode is more efficient than the continuous venting mode.

공기질 관리에 관한 환경 비용편익 연구[동해항만 주변 미세먼지오염을 기준] (Evaluation of Environmental Benefit and Cost for Management of Air Quality - [Based on Fine Dust Pollution on Donghae Harbor])

  • 본 연구는 강원도 소재 동해항만에서 발생하는 미세먼지 관리를 위한 환경비용편익을 산출하는 것이다. 항구 인근에 부유하는 미세먼지의 농도는 매우 높은 편이며, 지점에 따라 국가 기준인 $100{\mu}g/m^3$ 이상으로 관측되는 곳도 있다. 시험대상 항구는 주로 석회석과 석탄을 취급함으로써 미세입자상 물질이 하역시 다량 발생한다. 연구결과 PM10을 기준으로 년간 12톤의 미세먼지가 하역작업 시 발생하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 덧붙여서 원료물질을 비롯한 다양한 화물을 운송하는 대형차량 및 중장비는 디젤 검댕이를 발생하고, 도로먼지의 비산을 유발한다. 지방정부는 해마다 20억원 이상의 비용을 투자하여 대기중 미세먼지를 제거하고 있다. 편익대비 비용을 산출한 결과 그 효과는 최소 240%에서 최대 720%까지 얻을 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

박용디젤기관의 대기오염 저감을 위한 습식 다단 임팩션 시스템의 집진특성 (Collection characteristics of wet-type multi-staged impaction system for air pollutants removal of marine diesel engines)

  • The main purpose of this paper was to analyze the removal characteristics of gas/particulate phase pollutants for the present system. Experimentally, we performed to estimate the pressure drop and air pollution removal efficiency with physical variables such as stage number, tube velocity, tube diameter, water spray ($NH_4OH$), and so on. It was concluded that the pressure drop was shown below $111mmH_2O$ lower than that of the existing scrubber (centrifugal spray chamber, over 200 mmAq) at inlet velocity 3.46 m/s and 5 stage. The particular removal efficiency of this system was to be significantly higher at 99.8% in comparison with that of the existing scrubber for 5 stage, inlet velocity 3.46 m/s and $NH_4OH$ (aq) 300 mL/min. It was estimated that the removal efficiencies of $SO_2$ and $NO_2$ were 80% and 70% at system inlet velocity 2.07 m/s and $NH_4OH$ (aq) 300 mL/min respectively. Additionally, the present collection system was to be considered as an effective compact system for simultaneous removal of air pollutants (gas/particulate) due to much higher removal efficiency and appropriate pressure drop without a demister.
