  • Due to the regular usage of face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, many people developed skin issues. As a result, interest in skin care which can be performed independently at home has increased. The purpose of this study is to design a customized home beauty care device to respond to these market trends. In order to do so, the double diamond model was applied in the design thinking process, and the design development process proceeded in the order of discovery, definition, development, and delivery. This study is meaningful in that it focused on the user-centered design development approach by fusing design thinking processes rather than styling-oriented design processes, and suggested new possibilities for design development using information based on the data measured.

  • According to increase of concerning in health and entry of aging society, sensor-based smart clothing has developed various type and applications. Sensor-based smart clothing should be designed with considering of the interaction between a human body-device-clothing, such as accuracy of signal, wearability, suitability and the configuration of the sensor and so on. In this respect, these characteristics distinguish sensor-based smart clothing process from clothing process and Sensor-based smart clothing process is expected to be needing requirements Specification for development purpose and interoperability assessment based on requirements engineering. In this study, to assess efficiency of process based on requirement engineering, the sensor-based smart clothing process was deducted in two types by analysis of empirical performance. Presented two process were empirically evaluated through qualitative and quantitative evaluation. As a result, design process II based on requiments engineering were confirmed more effective process than processI.

  • The goal of this study is leading discussion on emotional design focused on product domain and approaching it through a practical way so that it'll be able to help designers in their real design work when they design products in an emotional way. Discussions on emotions are remaining on abstract levels and only focusing on 5 senses even though the importance of emotions are increased. But much more is needed to apply emotions in the product domain because these are not the proper forms for applications and they only cover limited parts of it. Therefore, in this study we proposed the notion of 'Emotionalized Product' and defined it into a practical level. We extracted 5 useful frameworks of 'Emotionalized Product(EP)' as a results; EP Media, EP Procedure, EP Level, EP Character, and EP Value. Then we clarified EP with these frameworks. After that, we extracted 2 frameworks: Domain Structure, and EP Opportunity, to combine EP with a real product. Finally we proposed the EP Design Process consisted of Inductive and Deductive Process based on previous work. It can be shared by designers as a base of designing system, and it also can be helpful to design products more successfully with an emotional approach.

  • The present thesis is to concretize process stages and methods for effective use of online CGTS(creative group thinking system), or the web-storming program, in space design and to propose a support system for idea generation specific to space design. For the purpose of this study, activity factors in space design process and functional factors of the web-storming program were written into an interaction matrix, which was used for a questionnaire survey on correlations. Then, the results of the interaction matrix were visualized and analyzed following the procedure of observation-interpretation-application. The analysis found that the schematic design stage is most correlated where close collaboration is performed in the process of space design and that differences in correlation arise upon division of work. As such, the present study proposed 'provision of media for ideas in accordance with specific process and UI optimization' as a means of improving usability in schematic design that is closely correlated and suggested an idea to enhance the applicability of web-storming system in division of work.

  • The aim of this study was to suggest an enhancement of pedestrian safety through a service design process regarding urban design in new-town area. For this study, the concept, process and touchpoint, and survey design area, of the service design are reviewed as a theoretical study. According to this study, traffic signals, pedestrian environment, pedestrian overpass, and access traffic road were surveyed as touchpoints and a problem search, concept design, design building, institutional implement were analyzed as a service design process. As a result of these studies, the planning method for pedestrian safety based on service design process in terms of the external space design in a new-town area are suggested.

  • This study examines the ePortfolio structure of IT company design interns and the differences among companies in 'Cofolios' site for employment of design major students. First, we examine the common configuration steps of ePortfolios [1. Project Brief${\rightarrow}$2-1. Investigation and Analysis${\rightarrow}$2-2. Strategy development${\rightarrow}$2-3. Virtualization, Final Design${\rightarrow}$2-4. Presentation, Evaluation, and Improvement${\rightarrow}$3. Read More]. Secondly, all the sub-items used in the ePortfolio were organized into words and classified into 6 stages. Finally, this was analyzed by majors and companies. Through this, the interns of the IT companies can [2-2. Strategy development] and that they are actively utilizing the 'connectivity' attribute linking the links. In addition, interns confirmed that the ePortfolio was structured differently depending on their major and the desired company.

  • The aim of this research is to develop communication model and tools that would help in incorporating user experience into information appliance product development. To do so, this research suggested three major modelling techniques, including user-experience model, design strategy model and experience product model. Using these modelling tools, any members in design teams (investigator and designers) will be able to communicate their own ideas and research results each other at any period of the product development process. Each tools have distinct factors that would help identify elements in the user research stages, idea generation stages and product development stages. To verify the efficiency of these models, the case study was conducted with final year students at their studio class. As a result, the benefit of using these tools were identified as 1) these tools accelerate the communication between user researchers, designers and engineers and 2) evaluation process of the product is much more dearer that before. and 3) various user research techniques can be explored.

  • This study was an exploratory approach to the cognitive model of textile designers on the stage of motif development in textile design process. Prior to the main research, several previous studies adopting methods of video/audio protocol analysis were reviewed. On the basis of the review, the categories of design action were derived as an analysis frame by application of top-down access method, meanwhile the sub-groups of each category of design action were identified through a bottom-up access method. To summarize the research result, total three categories of textile design action appeared based on the theory of ‘Human processor’ model : ‘motor action’, ‘perceptual action’ and 'cognitive action'. In next, a new coding scheme suitably explaining these three categories of fertile design action was developed. Finally, a cognitive model of textile designer on the stage of motif development, employing the new coding scheme, was suggested in this study.
