A MMORPG Quest Reward Design Technique By Considering Optimal Quest Play Paths (최적 동선을 고려한 MMORPG 퀘스트 보상 설계 기법)

  • A quest system is one of the important parts in the MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) contents. Because of its complexity in combining various content components, quest reward design belongs to a complicated work in estimating quest reward levels correctly in the initial development stage. In this paper, we suggest a new quest reward design technique by considering optimal quest play paths. We model a quest reward problem as the TSP (Traveling Salesman Problem) and solve that by adopting genetic algorithms. With our system, game designers easily estimate the optimal quest play path and it can be useful in reducing the trial-errors in the initial quest design process.

A study for four colour silkscreen printing (4칼라 실크스크린에 대한 연구)

  • The method to make ceramic pigments for 4 colour instead of ink in the process of the of set-printing and put them on the decal paper in the ceramic industry has been used to produce complicated images such as photographs or famous masterpieces. Offset-printing which is the production method for mass production, had enough worth to suffer the past high price of the production line. But today it is not suitable for the production method of small quantity and many kinds corresponding to needs for the various tastes and designs of consumers. Therefore I will put 4 colour printing method on the silkscreen, handiwork, suitable for the production method for small quantities and many variations to develop the methods that permit to cost effectively reproduce complex, high resolution, multicolor images. The study is expected to give value to ceramists who do various works and to be offered as the foundation in the field of design and expression.

A Study on the Relationships between Complex and Preference by Perceptual-cognitive and Affective Judgement - Focused on the Commercial Interior Design - (지각적-인지적 판단과 감정적 판단에 따른 복잡성과 선호도의 관계 - 상업공간의 실내디자인을 중심으로 -)

  • Design is inseparably related to aesthetics. In spite of that, it is difficult to explain the precise aesthetic variables that affect the aesthetic value of space or environment. Therefore, this study intended to find the relationships between aesthetic variables by perceptual and affective judgement for space design with focus on complexity and preference variables. The research found low level of 'arousing' as well as high levels of affective dimension variables 'pleasant' and 'relaxing' evoked high preference. High preference also appeared in space design cases with high unity, order, and clarity with low contrast and complexity, which are variables of perceptual dimension. Complexity, one variables of preference by Kaplan, is in an inverse proportion to space preference. Thus, space design with high complexity has high level of 'exciting' and 'arousing' affective responses and relatively low level of 'relaxing' response. Additionally, it was confirmed that the most importantly influential factor on complexity was diverse components rather than visual richness and ornamentation.

Perception of Healthcare Design Complexity and Specialized Knowledge in Need (의료시설 디자인의 복잡성과 필요전문지식의 인식)

  • Healthcare design has been considered as one of the most complex design types. In this study, healthcare design complexity is analysed by the following categories: (1) function; (2) medical technology; (3) scientific knowledge; (4) aesthetics; and (5) interest group complexity. The central questions here are: (1) What is the impact of specialized knowledge on the professional practice; and (2) What are the relationships between design complexity and specialized knowledge. To answer these questions, this study utilizes two approaches, including mail-out questionnaires survey and in-person and focus group interviews. This study found that healthcare design architects emphasize the technical component of specialized healthcare design knowledge. Thus they perceive that architectural research, as a tool to increase specialized healthcare design knowledge, is beneficial to solve the technical components including medical technology and functional problems. In the professional practice, however, architectural research is hardly conducted due mainly to the lack of money and time for it. Different perceptions regarding healthcare design complexity and architectural research among the firms exist, depending on the firm size. These results imply that the knowledge management strategy of large firms can be more efficient to the organizational growth than the small firms.

  • With the increasing demands on high data rate, there has been growing interests in multi-input multi-output (MIMO) technology based on spatial multiplexing (SM) since it can transmit independent information in each spatial stream. Recent standards such as 3GPP LTE-advanced and IEEE 802.11ac support up to eight spatial streams, and massive MIMO and mm-wave systems that are expected to be included in beyond 4G systems are considering employment of tens to hundreds of antennas. Since the complexity of the optimum maximum likelihood based detection method increases exponentially with the number of antennas, low-complexity SM MIMO detection becomes more critical as the number of antenna increases. In this paper, we first review the results on the detection schemes for SM MIMO systems. In addition, massive MIMO reception schemes based on simple linear filtering which does not require exponential increment of complexity will be explained, followed by brief description on receiver design for future high dimensional SM MIMO systems.

  • A high performance Viterbi decoder is designed using modified register exchange scheme and block decoding method. The elimination of the trace-back operation reduces the operation cycles to determine the merging state and the amount of memory. The Viterbi decoder has low latency, efficient memory organization, and low hardware complexity compared with other Viterbi decoding methods in block decoding architectures. The elimination of trace-back also reduces the power consumption for finding the merging state and the access to the memory. The proposed decoder can be designed with emphasis on either efficient memory or low latency. Also, it has a scalable structure so that the complexity of the hardware and the throughput are adjusted by changing a few design parameters before synthesis.

  • The value orientations and life styles which are characterized by the postmodern societies have been expanding in korean society. This paper concerns with the postmodernism for in fashion design : at first the complex relationships between the logic of post-industrial society and the culture dynamics of postmodernism will be explained. Then the characteristics of postmodernism in the comparision with the Bauhaus, also "modernism" in design areas will be critically identified, and significant examples which I select in order to criticize the basic elements or orientations of postmodern design will be analized in details.I will make a new perspective which is beyond Bauhaus and postmodernism ; namly 'open dialogism design.'. But in the boundary of its introduction.

A Study on an Analysis of Core Information Literacy Competencies for Information Literacy Instruction of Undergraduate Students in Design Discipline (디자인분야 대학생의 정보문해 교육을 위한 핵심 정보문해능력 분석에 관한 연구)

  • Design discipline requires more specialized and sophisticated information literacy competencies necessary to effectively find and apply the information that students need for their teaming and the future independent designer than are outlined in general information literacy competencies. Therefore, The goals of this study is to identify specific information literacy competencies within the Design Discipline. This research analyzed design-specific core information literacy competencies through the literature analysis on the design goals & curriculum of four domestic universities and the NASAD standards & guidelines and verified those by Delphi Survey. The result showed that design discipline requires commonly 26 specific core competencies in seven broad categories and the these competencies are related to the time for information literacy Instruction. Also, The result analyzed that such majors in design as product design, visual design, need additionally more specialized and detailed competencies with specific focus and that design discipline requires commonly the information literacy competencies about general studies & fundamental ability.

  • 본 논문은 GF(2$^{m}$ )상에서 파워썸 연산을 수행하는데 필요한 새로운 알고리즘과 그에 따른 병렬 입/출력 구조를 제안한다. 새로운 알고리즘은 최상위 비트 우선 구조를 기반으로 하고, 제안된 구조는 기존의 구조에 비해 낮은 하드웨어 복잡도와 적은 지연을 가진다. 이는 역원과 나눗셈 연산을 위한 기본 구조로 사용될 수 있으며 암호 프로세서 칩 디자인의 기본 구조로 이용될 수 있고, 또한 단순성, 규칙성과 병렬성으로 인해 VLSI 구현에 적합하다.

  • In this research, a way to design a more convenient road for walking by creating more pedestrian space for streets located in busy areas due to many people crowded together was looked into. A symbol or characteristic was given to the street representing the image or regional culture of the area, and effort was given to create convenient yet characteristic street landscape by turning an environmentally sound, open area into pedestrian space. The basic concept of pedestrian space design was taken as the correlations between physical and psychological factors that appear on the environmental aspect of landscape. Areas for which it was difficult to come up with, a method to create a unique open space for pedestrians was looked into by analyzing with other known cases where the pedestrian area landscape was compared with that of the area in question.
