  • With subdivision of customers and markets, today, domains to design are expanding. When design merges with other spheres of design, it is important to convey a consistent message to customers. For delivering a message consistently and clearly, there is a need to reconcile different views in design processes. In this study, each design process was analyzed and the sequence was adjusted using the DSM methodology for understanding mutual dependent relations. For this, process activity elements were extracted with experts and a survey on related elements was conducted. Then the survey findings were divided for working out the sequence and based on the views regarding the sequence, a total design process was created.. As a result, the processes were combined into one sequence and there was a collaboration at the 10th stage. Also, a methodology used in collaboration and significant elements were analyzed. In conclusion, it is anticipated that this total design process would provide a more objective and scientific approach in collaboration among various spheres of design and help in reducing lead time.

  • Landscape design pursues a balance among different values in our society, but aesthetic value and ecological value in landscapes must bring complex relationships into harmony. Ecological aesthetics can be defined as a domain of study that manages the relationship between landscape ecology and landscape aesthetics to create aesthetically attractive and ecologically beneficial landscapes. Despite the importance of the research area, there has been limited empirical research addressing ecological aesthetics. This article aspires to connect and expand the conceptual framework to the research methodologies of ecological aesthetics. First, this study suggests a conceptual framework that examines the relationship between landscape and perceptual process in the context of ecological aesthetics. This framework stresses the importance of information and design intervention as moderators in this relationship. From this framework, three key topics in ecological aesthetics arise: (1) correlation between ecological integrity and aesthetic preference, (2) "compromised" design and management intervention principles that enhance aesthetic pleasure and still have biodiversity, and (3) the impact of information intervention in aesthetic experience. The framework indicated three domains affect each other; thus, when one domain is studied, the other two need to be considered. Secondly, several theoretical and empirical studies on ecological aesthetics will be reviewed from a methodological point of view. This will help to consider ecological aesthetics research, which has primarily been limited to theoretical discourse in empirical research.

  • In order to make interactive computing systems, including information systems, usable it is important to bring users into the design process. This article surveys and introduces several major system design approaches that are widely accepted as approaches from a users' perspective. A user model developed by the author is introduced following these existing approaches. This user model is developed from actual users' understanding of their goals and strategies to solve their information needs by using Dervin's Sense-Making Theory with Sense-Making Timeline Interviews. This user model reveals a different timeline from the default menu presentation orders that originally comes with the software. Steps for developing a user model from the Sense-Making Timeline Interviews are suggested for further application and guidelines in developing user models for system design and evaluation.

  • The role of local decentralization and balanced regional development becomes important due to the concentration of population due to urbanization, and the development of tourism contents in local governments is actively being attempted. However, this is largely due to quantitative growth, and it does not offer tourist content that offers a different experience while utilizing regional characteristics. This means that it is important to develop programs and contents that emphasize the identity of the region by cultivating local characteristics and build a different image. However, most of the small regions where characteristic resources are difficult to find have a problem that it is difficult to develop different programs and contents due to relatively few development opportunities and financial constraints. In this study, it was considered that it is effective to analyze characteristic features of the region and utilize the possessed assets as much as possible. Therefore, we propose a service design process that effectively supports ecotourism, one of the regional revitalization plan using local eco - assets. In the process, Venn Diagram Position and Context Map methodology was developed and verified through Sutonggol Observation Path.

  • Tableware is among the important necessities of daily life, and children's tableware is especially valued by the society. Under such social background, a study centered at users of children's tableware was conducted from four aspects, including health & safety, sensory experience, behavior guide, and emotional cognition. Children's tableware products were evaluated using the Q method to understand users' cognition of children's tableware products. The interviewees' views about children's tableware design in China can be divided into four types, and put forward different psychological needs for these four types, In the interviews, some interviewees suggested that the ergonomic and regional cultural differences shall all be considered during children's tableware design. Therefore, this study evaluates the design preferences of Chinese children tableware and validates the results of the paper based on the results.

  • Based on the service design processes, we examined the market conditions and the criteria to be considered in selecting materials and selected CFRP CNT materials in the development of bicycle design. This material was used to develop frame design among the bicycle parts. The bicycle frame, designed with CFRP CNT material through vibration attenuation testing, tensile strength testing, and stiffness test results before prototype production, shows better results than the bicycle frame manufactured with conventional CNT materials in terms of function.

  • This study renewed the 'RE_Double Diamond' design process on the importance that material selection should reflect the needs of the consumer as much as possible in product development. In addition, the provider-centered secondary stakeholder map process among existing double-diamond methodologies has been applied, and the selection of materials through communication between designers and engineers, including the construction of information focused on visualization.
