  • 야금학적 정련은 태양전지 소재인 실리콘의 저가화를 통한 태양전지의 단가를 낮추는데 유망한 공정이다. 이중에서도 실리콘의 전자빔정련은 고순도의 실리콘 정련에 효과적인 기술이다. 본 연구에서는 전자빔용융법을 이용하여 실리콘 정련을 수행하였으며, 제조된 실리콘의 미세구조 및 분순물농도를 측정하였다. 고진공의 챔버 하부에 수냉동도가니가 위치해있고, 상부에 100 kW출력의 전자총이 설치되었다. 실리콘은 분쇄 및 세척과 같은 전처리 없이 수냉동도가니에 250g 이 장입되었다. 전자빔때턴은 소프트웨어를 통한 헌혈, 나선형의 경로(path)와 원형의 형상(Shape)이 결합하여 원형패턴과 나선형패턴의 형상으로 실리콘에 조사되었다. 전자빔의 출력을 15 kW로 실리콘을 용융하였고 분당 0.5 kW의 속도로 서냉하였다. 제조된 실리콘은 지름 100 mm, 높이 25 mm의 버튼형상이었으며, 횡방향으로 절단하여 미세구조와 불순물거동을 분석하였다. 미세구조는 광학현미경 (OM) 과 전자현미경 (SEM)을 통하여 관찰하였고 불순물거동은 유도결합플라즈마 분광분석기(ICP-AES) 을 통하여 분석하였다. 장입된 실리콘의 초기순도는 99.5 %이고, 전자빔정련 공정 후 99.996 %까지 향상되었다. 전자빔패턴을 이용한 고순도 실리콘의 정련은 태양전지 소재 개발에 유망한 기술로 활용될 것이다.

Recycling of Copper Scrap (동스크랩의 리사이클링)

  • Copper is one of the first metals utilized by humankind about 11,500 years ago. But copper is not plentiful metallic element in the earth's crust. Copper has a high thermal and electric conductivity and is relatively corrosion resistant. In principle copper is virtually 100 % recyclable as an element without loss of quality. The recycling of copper scrap reduces the energy consumption and environmental burden, comparing to the primary metal production. Currently, approximately 30% of the global copper supply provides by recycling. Copper scrap is smelted in primary and secondary smelter. Type of furnace and process steps depend on the quality and grade of scrap. Depending on copper content of the secondary raw material, refining is required, which is usually done through electrorefining. This work provides an overview of the primary copper production and recycling process.

Study on the Copper Electro-refining from Copper Containing Sludge (저품위 동(Cu) 함유 슬러지로부터 동 전해정련에 관한 연구)

  • The electro-refining process was performed to recovery high purity copper from low grade copper containing sludge in sulfuric acid. The surface morphologies and roughness of electro-refining copper were analyzed with variation of the type and concentration of organic additives, the best surface morphology was obtained 5 ppm of the gelatin type and 5 to 10 ppm of the thiol type organic additive. The crude metal consisted of copper with 86.635, 94.969 and 99.917 wt.%, several impurity metals of iron, nickel, cobalt and tin by pyro-metallurgical process. After electro-refining process, the purity of copper increases to 3N or 4N grade. The impurity concentrations and copper purities of copper crude metals, electrolyte and electro-refining copper were analyzed using ICP-OES, the electro-refining time and purity of copper crude metal to recover 4N grade copper were deduced.

A Study of Copper Production Techniques at the Archaeological Site in Gwanbukri, Buyeo in the 6th and 7th Centuries (6~7C 부여 관북리 유적의 동 생산기법 연구)

  • Research was conducted to characterize the copper production and smelting process with 11 copper smelting by-products (copper slag and copper crucible) excavated from the NA and LA areas at the Gwanbuk-ri archeological site in Buyeo. Scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy, wavelength dispersive X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction, and Raman microspectroscopy were employed in the analysis. The research results reveal that the copper slag from Gwanbuk-ri contained silicate oxide, magnetite, fayalite, and delafossite, which are typical characteristics of crucible slag and refined slag. The outward appearance and microstructure of the slag were grouped as follows: 1. glassy matrix + Cu prill, 2. glassy matrix + Cu prill + magnetite, 3. silicate mineral matrix + Cu prill, 4. crystalline (delafossite and magnetite) + amorphous (Cu prill), 5. magnetite + fayalite, and 6. slag from slag. The copper slags from Guanbuk-ri were found to contain residues of impurities such as SiO2, Al2O3, CaO, SO4, P2O5, Ag2O, and Sb2O3 in their microstructure, and, in some cases, it was confirmed that copper, tin and lead are alloys. These results indicate that refining of intermediate copper(including impurities) and refining of alloys of copper(including impurities) - tin and refining of copper(including impurities) - tin - lead took place during the copper production process at Gwanbuk-ri, Buyeo.

  • In this study, copper was recovered from copper containing sludge by selectively controlling electro-refining process conditions in copper sulfate electrolyte solution. Electro-refining process was performed by LSV (Linear Sweep Voltammetry) result according to copper sulfate electrolyte solution concentration, applied current density, additive type and concentration. SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and PSA (Particle Size Analyzer) were used to analyze the shape and size of copper powder. In the 0.1 ~ 0.4 M copper sulfate electrolyte solution without organic additives, the copper powder size decreased as the applied current density became closer to the limiting current density and the copper powder size tended to decrease in 0.2 ~ 0.3 M copper sulfate electrolyte solution. In addition, when the shape and size of the copper powder were analyzed by adding various types and concentrations of organic additives to the previous experimental, fine spherical copper powder having the smallest size (nm) was obtained under the condition of cellulose type additive 2,000 ppm.

  • 본 논문에서는 간단한 사용자 입력과 다중 랜덤 워크(multiple random walker) 기법을 기반으로 동영상 내의 주요 객체를 분할하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 우선 동영상의 첫 프레임에서 점 형태의 사용자의 입력을 받아 대략적인 객체와 배경의 위치를 얻고, Lab 색상의 측지거리를 이용하여 객체와 배경의 중요도 지도를 얻는다. 다음으로 영상을 슈퍼 픽셀 단위로 분할하고, 다중 랜덤 워크 기법을 적용하여 객체 분할을 수행한다. 랜덤 워크 기법 적용 시, 중요도 지도를 각 랜덤 워커의 초기 분포로 설정하고, 노드간 색상과 움직임 차이를 이용하여 전이 행렬을 계산한다. 마지막으로 결과를 정련한 뒤, 다음 프레임으로 분할 결과를 전파하여 시간적 일관성을 유지한다. 실험을 통하여 제안 기법이 기존 기법에 비하여 우수한 객체 분할 성능을 보임을 확인한다.

Effects of Upset Pressure on Weldability in the Friction Welding of Cu to Cu-W Sintered Alloy (동-텅스텐 소결합금(Cu-W)과 동(Cu)의 마찰용접 특성에 미치는 업셋압력의 영향에 관한 연구)

  • A copper-tungsten sintered alloy(Cu-W) has been friction welded to a tough pitch copper in order to investigate the effect of upset pressure on friction weldability. Under the condition of friction time 0.8sec, upset pressure 150MPa, the tensile strength and Charpy impact value of the friction welded joint were 336MPa, $400KJ/m^2$ respectively. And highest temperature of the weld measured was below $800^{circ}K$ which is very lower than melting point of Cu($1356^{circ}K$). Under the same conditions, W grains picked up in Cu matrix from Cu-W profitably affected on these mechanical fracture, and were dispersed in Cu by plastic flow during brake time.

Electro-refining Characteristics of PCB-based Copper Anode for the Enrichment of Precious Metals (귀금속 농축을 위한 PCB 기반 양극동의 전해정련 특성)

  • In this study, scarp of PCB containing copper and precious metals was manufactured as an anode, and electrorefining experiments were conducted on change of $H_2SO_4$ concentration and current density. Through electrolytic refining experiments, the concentration of Cu and slime recovered from each electrode was analyzed, element behavior was confirmed, and current efficiency was also calculated. As the $H_2SO_4$ concentration was increased, the current efficiency and the purity of Cu decreased, but the precious metals in the anode slime were maximally concentrated with 2.0 M $H_2SO_4$. In addition, as the current density was increased, the current efficiency decreased and the purity of Cu showed a tendency to increase, and the precious metals in the anode slime were maximally concentrated with $300A/m^2$. As a result of the pilot scale experiments, the Au content was 8,705 mg/kg, the Ag content was 35,092 mg/kg in the anode slime. As compared with the initial content, Au was concentrated 16 times and Ag concentrated 14 times.
