  • The growth inhibitions of each strain on tryptic soy broth containing various concentration of 75% ethanol extract of Sinomenium acutum(Thunb.) Rehd. et wils and Glycyrrhiza glabra L. var. glandulifera Regel were compared which were exhibited comparatively strong growth inhibition on Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 19111, 19112, 19113, 19114 and 15313 at previous screening test by disk method. The Sinomenium acutum(Thunb.) Rehd. et wils extract showed partly effect by its concentration in broth to L. monocytogenes ATCC 19111 and 19114. The Glycyrrhiza glabra L. var. glandulifera Regel extract inhibited the growth of all test strains and even 100 ppm of the extract in the broth inhibited the growth of all test strains of L. monocytogenes for 12 to 48 hours. The extract stopped the growth totally of all strains in 500 ppm addition level. L. monocytogenes ATCC 19113 was more sensitive than other strains.

  • New type yoghurts were prepared by fermenting milk containing puffed rice flour(PRF) with some commercial lactic acid bacterial starters. The yoghurts were evaluated for pH, tillable acidity, viscosity and color with sensory evaluation for final quality. The optimum moisture content of rice for puffing was over or less 14%. Increasing addition level of PRF, lightness decreased and, redness and yellowness increased with increasing viscosity greatly. There was no quality difference among commercial starters but pH, acidity and viscosity of yoghurt were affected. During the storage at $5^{\circ}C$, pH dropped, acidity and viscosity increased gradually. The number of lactic acid bacteria was increased until 6 days storage to $3{\times}10^8$ and dropped after on. The yoghurt containing PRF was inferior in flavor texture and taste comparing with commercial yoghurt.

  • In order to prevent browning during drying of garlic flakes, the effect of dipping in phosphate complex solution prior to drying on the development of brown pigment in the flakes were studied. The browning color development during drying of the flakes was greatly dependent on phosphate complex concentration and their dipping time. A reciprocal relationship between browning color formation and reducing sugar content of dried garlic flakes was found. The browning color development during drying of the flakes was effectively impeded by dipping in 0.3% phosphate complex solution for 3 minute. The reduction of pyruvate content during drying of the flakes was greatly influenced by phosphate complex concentration and drying temperature, and a maximum retention was acieved by 3 minute dipping in 0.2-0.3% phosphate complex solution. The dried yield of the flakes dipped in phosphate complex solution was 1.62-1.75% lower than control and it was mainly caused by the dissolution of soluble solids during dipping.

  • Naphthalene sulfonated condensate has been widely used as a superplasticizer for cement and concrete, but the application was limited due to its large slump loss with elapsed time. To complement this demerit of NSF, polycarboxylic acid copolymer from nlaleic anhydride and acryl~c acid(MA) was synthesized to retain the mobility of cement and concrete, and then mixed with NSF. The physical properties, such as fluidity, fluidityretention and rheology, were measured by applying these admixtures to cement paste as a function of elapsed time. And also compressive strength of mortar was measured with curing time. NIv-l and NM-2 containing 10, 20 wt% of MA respectively had a excellent fluidity and a fluidity- retention. In rheological property, the increases of shear stress and viscosity with elapsed time were delayed with the increasing of shear rate in cornparision with NSF only. The marked slump loss of cement paste could be controlled by these admixture. Also the added ainount of admixture and the ratio of water to cement affected these properties.

  • The fluid system such as, the quantity control of raw water, chemicals control in the purification, the waste water system as well as in the feed water or circulation system of the power plant and the ventilation system is controlled with the valve and moter pump. The system's performance and the energy saving of the fluid systems depend on control of method and delicacy. Until, PI controller use in these system but it cannot control delicately because of the coupling in the system loop. In this paper we configure a single flow system to the multi variable system and suggest the application of 2-DOF PID controller and the tuning methods by the neural network to the electrical power of the flow control system. the 2-DOF controller follows to a setpoint has a robustness against the disturbance in the results of simulation. • Effect of C/N ratios on the cell growth, cell lipid, cell protein and fatty acids of Rhodotorula sp. was examined. At low concentration of nitrogen in cultural medium the growth of the yeast was retarded, whereas its growth was favorable at high concentration but lipid yield was decreased due to a high content of cell protein. In order to increase lipid yield, the optimum C/N ratio obtained was 45-50 (5% glucose, 0.0414% nitrogen). During the cultivation cell protein synthesis occurred mainly in initia stage and the lipid was accumulated rapidly at the late phase. The highest content of total fatty acid was observed at the optimum C/N ratio. The higher C/N ratio was the more unsaturation degree of fatty acid decreased. It was attributed principally to a decreased oleic acid with palmitic acid increased. No significant changes occurred in content of other fatty acids.

  • We experienced the partial Inhibition of entry of Taxoplasma gondii Into MDCK cells when the FBS was depleted from media. MDCK cells and Toxoplasma (RH strains) were co-cultured, the penetration was inhibited up to 60-80% with concentration-dependence of FBS. Inhibitory effect was clear when the conc. of FBS was over 1% (v/v) with 50% inhibition comic. of 5%. When ToxopLosma was pre-incubated with FBS and then applied to MDCK cells, there were no inhibitory effect, but when FBS was added to Toxoplasma- MDCK co-culture, the time of adding was c10cal with rapid inhibition. And when FBS was further treated with heat ($95^{\circ}C$, 10 min), the Inhibitory effect was decreased slightiy in both raw and inactivated FBS. The FBS factor(s) might participate to neutralize secreted materials which enhancing penetration or Intervene between receptor-ligand blnding at the moment of entry through sterically rather than functionally.

  • This study is to explain the nature of transnational activities being involved in by Filipina intermarriage migrants in Korea by examining the institutional backgrounds of market, society and the state. The increasing number of Filipina intermarriage with Korean coincides with the advance of liberal market economy, which governs internal and bilateral interactions between and among the three institutions in both countries. While existing various reasons for engaging in intermarriage, a significant number of Filipina wives in Korea ventured into it with uncertain expectations that they might earn better lives and could support their families. Such hopes usually turn out in vain when they meet the real lives in Korea. It is mainly because their spouses in Korea would rather be those who left behind in the marriage market due to their lack of competitiveness. Filipina wives are also suffering from social isolation caused by language and other barriers such as family relations or rural life they might settle in. Their transnational activities usually tend to be their effort to breakthrough their unexpected condition of difficult lives in Korea. They usually make use of transnational sort of community activities to cultivate chances to engage in bread earning activity. Migrant's transnational activity has a great impact on sociocultural changes in the country of origin and of arrival. Transnational activity provides migrants with economic opportunities, and uplifts self-esteem as well. Intermarriage couples, especially with Southeast Asian wives, and their offsprings show a tendency of downward assimilation to Korean society. Korean state policy toward them should not simply apply undiscriminated assimilation theory, but take into account their possible strength of transnational identity with which they could find a means to integrate themselves successfully into the mainstream Korean society.
