Controller Performance Analysis of 3-level inverter STATCOM for balancing DC Link Voltage (3-레벨 인버터식 STATCOM의 상.하단 직류캐패시터의 전압평형유지를 위한 제어기 특성 분석)

  • This paper describes dynamic performance analysis of a STATCOM based on 3-level inverter. Major attention is focused on the controller design for 3-level inverter, including regulator design for voltage sharing across the dc link capacitors. A detailed simulation model was developed with Matlab and a scaled hardware model was built and tested to verify the proposed approach. Both simulation and experimental results confirm that the developed controller can regulate the reactive power. The developed controller could be effectively applied to the actual hardware system for STATCOM.

  • A design technique of dynamic stabilization controller for the intrinsic unstable inverted pendulum system is introduced. Mathematical modelling with the more complex nonlinearity and the stabilized control theory presented by C.D.Johnson are adapted to this system by using the state-space approach. And the Stabilized controller with the designed optimal regulator type which can be fastly tracked and can be accurately counteracted aginst all effects of the constant distrubances and the parameteric variations is simulated and is implemeted successfully on the microcomputer.

  • In this paper, we present a neural network identification and a control of highly complicated nonlinear left ventricular assist device(LVAD) system with a pneumatically driven mock circulation system. Generally, the LVAD system needs to compensate for nonlinearities. It is necessary to apply high performance control techniques. Fortunately, the neural network can be applied to control of a nonlinear dynamic system by learning capability. In this study, we identify the LVAD system with neural network identification(NNI). Once the NNI has learned the dynamic model of the LVAD system, the other network, called neural network controller(NNC), is designed for a control of the LVAD system. The ability and effectiveness of identifying and controlling the LVAD system using the proposed algorithm will be demonstrated by computer simulation.

  • Recently, PWM Buck AC-AC Converter is widely employed in various industrial applications such as voltage and power regulator, electronic transformer, phase shifter and so on. This paper presents static and dynamic modeling and complete characteristic analysis of a PWM Buck AC-AC converter. Firstly, the three phase converter system is modelled by using DQ transformation whereby we can obtain basic characteristic equations such as voltage gain and power factor as well as state equation and transfer function for control. Secondly, based on the analysis, the feedforward-feedback control technique is also proposed to obtain instantaneous duty level change whereby very fast dynamic response is achieved. Finally, the experimental results show the validity of the modeling, analysis and control.

  • The IP Multimedia Subsystem(IMS) is an architectural framework for delivering IP multimedia services to mobile users. In order to guarantee the reliability and Quality of Service(QoS) of a variety of multimedia services, we need a new evolutionary approach that maintains the IMS based signaling platform which can perform the processing of flow through distributed controllers. Software Defined Network(SDN) is an architecture purporting to be distributed, dynamic, cost-effectives as well as adapting and seeking to be suitable for the high-bandwidth, dynamic nature of today's applications. It requires some methods for the control plane to communication with the data plane. One of such mechanisms is OpenFlow which is a prominent standard protocol and interface that is responsible for managing the network resources by using the remote SDN controller. In this paper, we propose a straightforward approach for integrating SDN technology together with the IMS architecture. Therefore we propose and construct a combined architecture model that performs flow processing using OpenFlow via the IMS based signaling platform, which maintains the existing telecom call service. Additionally, we describe some relevant experimentation results from the proposed architecture.

  • 초정밀 공작기계의 구조물은 Sub-micron의 운동정밀도를 갖추어야 초정밀기계로서의 기능이 유지된다. 특히 가공기의 베드구조물은 구동요소간의 상대 위치를 정.동적으로 규정 해주는 중요한 기본구조물이므로 고강성, 고쇠감성,열안정성, 경년변화에 대한 치수의 안정성등의 성능이 요구되며, 이를위해 공간적인 형상 설계 및 구조재의 선정에 고도의 기술이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구는 낮은 고유진동수의 특성을 갖으면서 하중의 설치높이의 변화에서도 고유진동수가 일정히 유지되고 또한 구조물의 중심변화에 대한 수평조절이 가능하면서 자동제어가 가능한 공기스프링을 초정밀 가공기의 방진시스템으로 활용방안에 대하여 연구하였다.

  • 가스터빈 엔진을 운용하는 데 있어서 가/감속율을 크게 하면 엔진성능 천이 시간은 짧으나 압축기에서의 서지나 터빈 입구온도의 급격한 상승이 발생할 수 있으며 가/감속율을 작게 하면 엔진은 안정적이나 천이시간이 길어지게 되어 결과적으로 엔진의 동적 응답성이 나빠지게 된다. 또한 압축기에서 발생할 수 있는 서지를 방지하기 위하여 압축기 서지 마진이 l0%∼20%인 서지 한계선(조정선)을 설정하여 엔진이 서지 한계선을 넘지 않도록 제어한다.

Performance assessment of multi-hazard resistance of Smart Outrigger Damper System (스마트 아웃리거 댐퍼시스템의 멀티해저드 저항성능평가)

  • An outrigger system is used widely to increase the lateral stiffness of high-rise buildings, resulting in reduced dynamic responses to seismic or wind loads. Because the dynamic characteristics of earthquake or wind loads are quite different, a smart vibration control system associated with an outrigger system can be used effectively for both seismic and wind excitation. In this study, an adaptive smart structural control system based on an outrigger damper system was investigated for the response reduction of multi-hazards, including seismic and wind loads. A MR damper was employed to develop the smart outrigger damper system. Three cities in the U.S., L.A., Charleston, and Anchorage, were used to generate multi-hazard earthquake and wind loads. Parametric studies on the MR damper capacity were performed to investigate the optimal design of the smart outrigger damper system. A smart control algorithm was developed using a fuzzy controller optimized by a genetic algorithm. The analytical results showed that an adaptive smart structural control system based on an outrigger damper system can provide good control performance for multi-hazards of earthquake and wind loads.

  • When a control algorithm is developed to protect automotive compressor surges, the simulation model typically selects an empirically determined look-up table. However, it is difficult for a control oriented empirical model to show surge characteristics of the super charger. In this study, a dynamic supercharger model is developed to predict the performance of a centrifugal compressor under dynamic load follow-up. The model is developed using Simulink$^{(R)}$ environment, and is composed of a compressor, throttle body, valves, and chamber. Greitzer's compressor model is used, and the geometric parameters are achieved by the actual supercharger. The simulation model is validated with experimental data. It is shown that compressor surge is effectively predicted by this dynamic compressor model under various operating conditions.

  • This paper is proposed an efficiency optimization control algorithm for a synchronous reluctance motor which minimizes the coner and iron losses. The design of the speed controller based on adaptive fuzzy-neural networks(AFNN) controller that is implemented using fuzzy control and neural networks. There exists a variety of combinations of d and q-axis current which provide a specific motor torque. The objective of the efficiency optimization controller is to seek a combination of d and q-axis current components, which provides minimum losses at a certain operating point in steady state. The proposed algorithm allows the electromagnetic losses in variable speed and torque drives to be reduced while keeping good torque control dynamics. The control performance of the hybrid artificial intelligent controller is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. Analysis results are presented to show the validity of the proposed algorithm.
