The skid proof pavement is used for safety driving on curved bridges and high level roads. This study analyzed the effect of skid proof pavement on the bridge using actual spot test and computer analysis. In the actual spot test, the natural frequency and dynamic deflection of steel box girder bridges were measured before and after skid proof pavement. Likewise, in the computer analysis, the dynamic response of the finite element model was evaluated. The model was based on real steel box girder bridge according to the skid proof pavement. The analyzed results provide basic data on the effect of skid proof pavement on road structure.
Dynamic rock property is one of most important parameters in design of earthquake-resistant structures. In this study, free-free resonant column test has been conducted to obtain dynamic Young's modulus, dynamic shear modulus, and damping ratio among dynamic properties with granite specimen of Chungnam Yeongi area. The dynamic properties obtained from this test were compared with the physical properties from static rock tests, and their relationship has been analyzed. From our study, it has been concluded that the dynamic Young's modulus and the dynamic shear modulus are linearly proportional to the elastic wave velocity. And also the damping ratio has been identified to be in non-linear inverse proportion to the elastic wave velocity.
In recent years, not only the occurrences but the magnitude of earthquakes in Korea are on an increasing trend and other sources of dynamic events including large-scale construction, operation of hi띤-speed railway and explosives blasting have been increasing. Besides, the probability of exposure fir rock joints to free faces gets higher as the scale of rock mass structures becomes larger. For that reason, the frictional behavior of rock joints under dynamic conditions needs to be investigated. In this study, a shaking table test system was set up and a series of dynamic test was carried out to examine the dynamic frictional behavior of rock joints. In addition, a computer program was developed, which calculated the acceleration and deformation of the sliding block theoretically based on Newmark sliding block procedure. The static friction angle was back-calculated by measuring yield acceleration at the onset of slide. The dynamic friction angle was estimated by closely approximating the experimental results to the program-simulated responses. As a result of dynamic testing, the static friction angle at the onset of slide as well as the dynamic friction angle during sliding were estimated to be significantly lower than tilt angle. The difference between the tilt angle and the static friction angle was $4.5\~8.2^{\circ}$ and the difference between the tilt angle and the dynamic friction angle was $2.0\~7.5^{\circ}$. The decreasing trend was influenced by the magnitude of the base acceleration and inclination angle. A DEM program was used to simulate the shaking table test and the result well simulated the experimental behavior. Friction angles obtained by shaking table test were significantly lower than basic friction angle by direct shear test.
The hardness and mechanical properties of the minerals in the Daejeon granite according to depths were investigated by indentation test, load-unload test, and cycle test of dynamic ultra-micro hardness. As a result of the tests, it was possible to classify into three mineral groups (Group-1, -2, -3). The Martens hardness was not significantly different between 41 m and 223 m depths in three mode tests. Nevertheless, they showed in the order of a cycle test < load-unload test < indentation test. Considering the average Martens hardness, elastic modulus, and indentation work for each mineral group, their boundaries were relatively clear. In conclusion, A relatively accurate hardness of minerals can be obtained by three mode tests of dynamic ultra-micro hardness. In addtion, it was possible to characterize the elastic modulus and the elastic-plastic properties of the minerals from the load-unload and cycle tests.
Brittle materials such as rocks and concretes exhibit large strain-rate dependency under dynamic loading conditions. This means that the mechanical properties of such materials can significantly be varied according to load velocity. Thus, the strain-rate dependency is recognized as one of the most important considerations in solving problems of blast engineering or rock dynamics. Unfortunately, however, studies for characterizing the dynamic properties of domestic rocks and other brittle materials are still insufficient in the country. In this study, dynamic tensile tests were conducted using the Hopkinson pressure bar apparatus to characterize the dynamic properties of Geochang granite and high-strength concrete specimens. The dynamic Brazilian disc test, which is suggested by ISRM, and the spalling method were applied. In general, the latter is believed to have some advantages in experiments under high-strain rate deformation. It was found from the tests that there were no significant difference between the dynamic tensile strengths obtained from the two different test methods for the two materials given. However, this was not the expected result before the tests. Actually, authors expected that there be some differences between them. Hence, it is thought that further investigations are needed to clarify this results.

A cold-flow test equipment was designed to carry out the performance verification of TDACS. For that purpose, the pressure dynamics in the solid rocket motor combustor and the cold-flow test was modeled, and the response time showing the dynamic characteristics of each model was obtained. In this paper, the system response time of the cold-flow test was designed to be equal to that of the motor, making the dynamic response in cold-flow and hot gas condition to be similar.
The internal erosion due to poor compaction of the material was the main cause of collapse of the embankment in Korea. The assessment of the compaction state of the dam body was a very important check in the safety diagnosis of the embankment. In this study, the correlation between dynamic cone penetration test and plate loading test which is the most typical compaction evaluation technique was analyzed to verify the applicability of the dynamic cone penetration test in evaluating the compaction state of the dam body. The standard penetration tests were carried out six times to define soil properties and depth of the test site. The spatial distributions were obtained by the Kriging method after 15 times of plate loading tests and 47 times of dynamic cone penetration tests. The Pearson correlation coefficient between the spatial distribution of the plate loading test and the dynamic cone penetration test spatial distribution at the constant penetration depth was calculated. The load distribution in the plate loading test and the blow counts at penetration depths of 5 cm, 10 cm and 15 cm in the dynamic cone penetration test showed a weak positive correlation.
A test method has been attempted to estimate the soil stiffness by measuring and analyzing dynamic signals of stress waves reflected at the bottom end of the SPT rod contacting a soil deposit. Before conducting a real size testing, a series of parametric studies were conducted in this paper to examine the applicability and the theoretical adequacy of the test method. As a result of these studies, it has been shown that the most significant influence factor affecting the amplitude ratio of the reflected wave to the incident wave at the rod-soil interface was the variation of soil stiffness. Also, the variation of the amplitude ratio was found to be closely related with the variation of impedance ratio of the soil deposit to the SPT rod. As a result, a potential of the test method could be proved to estimate the impedance and the elastic modulus of the soil deposit interfaced with the SPT rod using the test method.

We conducted a dynamic analysis of an underwater test collector, which operates on extremely soft soil of deep-seafloor. The underwater test collector consists of nodule pick-up device, vehicle tracks, nodule crusher, loading frame and electric-electronic system. The weight of underwater test collector is about 8600 kg. The average normal pressure, that the underwater test collector supports, is about 6.0 kPa. The dynamic analysis model of underwater test collector is developed using commercial software RecurDyn-LM and Visual Fortran 90. A terramechanics model of extremely soft soil is implemented to the software based on user-written subroutine and applied to the dynamic analysis of the underwater test collector model. The dynamic responses of test collector are studied with respect to track velocities, terrain conditions, and coefficients of added mass and drag.
