  • Study of the effect of interbody stabilization exercises on the static and dynamic balance of face-to-face, non-face-to-face, and self-group. We recruited healthy young adults The subjects were randomly divided into three groups to perform inter-body stabilization exercises, and static and dynamic balance were measured, respectively, before and after intervention. In the Face to Face Group, dynamic balance significantly increased in the anterior and posteriomedial directions before and after intervention. There was also a significant increase in static balance. In the Non face to face Group, there was a significant increase in the three directions of dynamic and static balance. The self-exercise group significantly increased in three directions of dynamic balance, but there was no significant difference in static balance. No significant differences between groups were found in any variables. The results of this study showed that interbody stabilization exercises are effective in improving static and dynamic balance. In the face-to-face group, the inter-body stabilization exercise was effective in improving dynamic balance and static balance, and in the non-face-to-face group, the inter-body stabilization exercise was effective in improving dynamic balance and static balance. In the self-contained group, it was effective in improving dynamic balance.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of training using unstable plate on displacement and dynamic balance ability of ankle joints in women college students wearing high heel shoes. Subjects were randomly divided into experimental group and control group. 3D motion analysis was performed while walking 9cm high-heeled shoes and walking 5m. Dynamic balanced ability evaluation was performed. The intervention program was administered to experimental subjects three times a week for four weeks. They performed balance training using unstable plates. There was no intervention in the control group. The results showed that the displacement of the ankle joints in the experimental group after the intervention was decreased overall and the dynamic balance ability was significantly increased. The control group showed little change. As a result, the training using unstable plate stabilizes the ankle joints and improves the dynamic balance ability of the subjects wearing high-heeled shoes.

  • This study was conducted to compare the PNF and Trunk Exercise Program has effectiveness on the pain, disability, static and dynamic balance in chronic low back pain patients. To evaluate the effects of exercise, subjects were evaluated by using VAS for pain, Oswestry disability index for disability, One leg stand test for static balance and Balance System for dynamic balance test. Pain, Oswestry disability index, One leg stand test, and Dynamic balance test in PNF had statistical significance than Trunk exercise program(p<0.05). So this results were suggested that the lifting and chopping pattern of PNF was effective on pain, disability and balance in chronic low back pain patients.

  • The purpose of this study was investigate the effect of gastrocnemius(GCM) muscle length on the dynamic balance and antero-posterior pressure distribution of foot. Thirty subjects were recruited and each subject was classified with control experimental and control group according to GCM muscle length. The experimental group included subjects with shortness of GCM muscle length, the control group included subjects with normal length of GCM. The dynamic balance and antero-posterior pressure distribution of foot were measured by Biorescue equipment. To evaluate dynamic balance, we collected data of limit of stability in antero-posterior direction. We analyzed the data by using independent t-test. The alpha level was set 0.05. The results showed that the dynamic balance and antero-posterior pressure distribution of foot were significantly different between two groups (p<0.05). This study suggests that the shortness of GCM affects anterior limited of stability in dynamic balance and anterior pressure distribution of foot. Therefore, it is important to maintain optimal GCM muscle length for normal balance ability and prevention of musculoskeletal disease.

  • Purpose : The present study was aimed at investigating the plantar pressure on dynamic balance of subjects with functional ankle instability following fatigue of lower leg. Methods : The subjects(30 university students) were divided into 2 groups ; functional ankle instability group(7males and 7females) and ankle stable group(9males & 7females) who could evaluate questionnaire. All the participants were evaluated muscle fatigue of lower leg by Biodex system III and distribution of plantar pressure by Zebris FDM-S system, The dynamic balance was tested by single-leg jump landing. This study were to measure of plantar pressure on dynamic balance with the difference between FAIG and control group following muscle fatigue. Results : In functional ankle instability group(FAIG), the post-fatigue was significantly higher than pre-fatigue in forefoot(p2,p3,p4) of plantar pressure on dynamic balance(p<0.05). The FAIG was significantly higher than the ASG in forefoot(p2, p3, p4) & lat midfoot(p6) of plantar pressure after fatigue in dynamic balance(p<0.05). The FAIG was significantly longer than the ASG in anteroposterior(AP) & mediolateral(ML) distance on center of pressure(CoP) after fatigue in dynamic balance(p<0.05). Conclusion : This study showed that FAIG were effected plantar pressure and center of pressure(CoP) by dynamic balance following muscle fatigue. Further study is needed to measure various age & work with ankle instability for clinical application.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the test-retest reliability and the concurrent validity between tinetti mobility test (TMT), berg balance scale (BBS) and space balance 3D which is one of the computerized measurement and visual feedback balance assessment system in subacute stroke patients. Twenty three ambulatory acute stroke subjects were measured the TMT, BBS and space balance 3D. The test-retest reliability(intra-class correlation coefficient: ICC) indicated that the static and dynamic balance in space balance 3D considered moderate reliability and TMT, BBS were good reliability. In case of concurrent validity, there were moderate validity (p<.01) between static balance test with space balance 3D and each TMT, BBS. But there were only poor validity (p<.05) between center to forward-left, center to backward-left phase in dynamic balance test with space balance 3D and each TMT, BBS. These findings suggest that in subacute stroke patients the test-retest reliability and concurrent validity using the space balance 3D and TMT were valuable in balance test but there was limitation to evaluate dynamic balance test.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of increasing weight load on the dynamic balance on Y-balance Test(YBT). 18 male and female adults in their 20-30s (age: 23.17±1.72 years, height: 172.46±9.84 cm, weight: 73.39±11.44 kg, leg length: 88.89±5.69 cm) participated in the experiment. To measure the dynamic balance, the YBT was used to measure the reach distance, composite score, and COP variables to derive the results. As a result of the study, dynamic balance was improved in weight load in posteromedial and posterolateral reach and overall score during YBT. As a result of COP, anteroposterior amplitude, left and right COP velocity, and COP area during anterior reach improved dynamic balance in weight load in the right foot, but there was no difference during the posteromedial reach, ML amplitude in the left foot, AP COP velocity in left foot, ML COP velocity and COP velocity in both foot, and COP area in both foot improved dynamic balance when weight load during posterolateral reach.
