Water cycle of an urbanized catchment, taking the case of Tancheon (탄천을 통해 살펴본 도시유역의 물순환)

  • 자연유역 내에 도시가 자리잡고 발달해 나가면 유역의 특성에 급격한 변화를 가져온다. 이러한 변화로 인해 도시유역은 자연유역과는 상이한 수문학적 특성을 나타낸다. 그 동안 도시수문학의 주된 관심사는 도심지 홍수예방, 상수관망 등에 주어졌고, 장기적인 관점에서 도시유역의 물순환에 대한 정량화는 별로 다루어지지 않았다. 이 연구에서는 비교적 최근에 급격하게 도시화가 이루어진 탄천 유역에 대해 도시유역의 장기적인 물순환에 대해 정량화하고 자연유역과의 차이를 분석하고자 한다. 강수량, 유출량, 증발산량, 상수공급량, 하수처리량 등의 가용한 자료를 동원하여 탄천 유역의 물수지 분석을 수행하였다. 탄천유역은 유역 외부에서 상수를 공급받고 사용된 용수는 하수처리시설을 통해 하천으로 방류되고 있으며 이로 인해 유출 특성이 자연유역과 많은 차이를 보이고 있다.

A Study on An Error-Resilient Constant Bit Rate Video Codec (에러 환경에 강한 항등비트율 동영상 부호화기에 관한 연구)

  • In this thesis, an error resilient video coding algorithm, under the error-prone environment such as wireless communication, is suggested. The suggested algorithm adapts the Classified VQ method for intra imagers that reduces some load by searching similar vectors. The Duplicate Vector Position Code is proposed for the higher compression efficiency and the robust decoding in error environment. As a result, the bitstream encoded by the proposed method is in a CBR(Constant Bit Rate) preventing from error propagation. The experiment that adds practical error to the encoded bitsrteam shows the error-robustness superior to H.263.

  • This paper proposes an approximated soft decision demapping algorithm with low computational complexity for coded 4+12+16 amplitude phase shift keying (APSK) in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. To derive the proposed algorithm, we approximate the decision boundaries for 4+12+16 APSK symbols, and then decide the log likelihood ratio (LLR) value for each bit from the approximated decision boundaries. Although the proposed algorithm shows about 0.6~1.1dB degradation on the error performance compared with the conventional max-log algorithm, it gives a significant result in terms of the computational complexity.

Anti-thrombotic effect of artemisinin through regulation of cAMP production and Ca2+ mobilization in U46619-induced human platelets (U46619 유도의 사람 혈소판에서 cAMP 생성 및 Ca2+동원의 조절을 통한 Artemisinin의 항혈전 효과)

  • The regulation of platelet aggregation is crucial for maintaining normal hemostasis, but abnormal or excessive platelet aggregation can contribute to cardiovascular disorders such as stroke, atherosclerosis, and thrombosis. Therefore, identifying substances that can control or suppress platelet aggregation is a promising approach for the prevention and treatment of these conditions. Artemisinin, a compound derived from Artemisia or Scopolia plants, has shown potential in various areas such as anticancer and Alzheimer's disease research. However, the specific role and mechanisms by which artemisinin influences platelet activation and thrombus formation are not yet fully understood. This study investigated the effects of artemisinin on platelet activation and thrombus formation. As a result, cAMP production were increased significantly by artemisinin, as well as phosphorylated VASP and IP3R which are substrates to cAMP-dependent kinase by artemisinin in a significant manner. The Ca2+ normally mobilized from the dense tubular system was inhibited due to IP3R phosphorylation from artemisinin, and phosphorylated VASP by artemisinin aided in inhibiting platelet activity via αIIb/β3 platelet membrane inactivation and inhibiting fibrinogen binding. Finally, artemisinin inhibited thrombin-induced thrombus formation. Therefore, we suggest that artemisinin has importance with cardiovascular diseases stemming from the abnormal platelets activation and thrombus formation by acting as an effective prophylactic and therapeutic agent.

전폐형 Life-boat 국산화 기술 개발

  • 우리나라 조선산업은 생산성 향상을 통한 건조척수의 증가를 통하여 일본과 더불어 세계 $1^{\sim}2$위의 시장 점유율을 기록하는 등 세계 최고의 수준이다. 그러나 국내 중소형 조선소나 조선기자재업체의 경우에는 기술 인력의 부족으로 인하여 독자적인 기술의 확보와 기술개발 여건이 마련되어 있지 않은 상황이다. 특히, 구명정(Life boat)은 선박의 비상 탈출 장비로써 법적으로 의무 설치가 강제화 되어 있는 선박 안전에 있어 필수적인 장비로서 수요도 꾸준히 증가하고 있으나, 국내의 구명정 제작업체로는 현대라이프보트가 유일하며 2004년 기준 국내 신조선박에 탑재되는 수량의 25%, 세계시장의 4% 만을 공급하고 있다. 이외의 수량은 $7^{\sim}8$ 개의 유럽 등 외국업체와 중국업체들이 제작, 공급하는 실정이다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 구명정의 신선형 개발과 선형시험 통한 성능 검증 및 품질 향상과 풍수절감을 위한 생산성 향상 방안, 기존 몰드 개선 방안 연구 등을 수행하고 시제선을 건조하여 저가의 외국 구명정에 대응하여 국내 구명정 기술 경쟁력을 향상시킬 수 있는 전폐형 구명정의 국산화를 달성하였다.

  • 세계적으로 지구온난화 등 기후변화의 영향으로 재해발생의 빈도와 피해 심도가 증가하고 있다. 일반적으로 자연재해에 의한 피해복구에 소요되는 비용은 재해 피해액보다 크다. 선진국의 경우 이러한 재해발생 가능성을 두고, 피해를 최소화시키기 위하여 복원력에 초점을 맞추어 관련 정책을 수립하고 있다. 그러나 가뭄의 경우 타 재해에 비하여 지속기간이 길고 그 지속기간에 따라 피해의 영향이 지역별로 편차를 두고 달라지게된다. 따라서, 정확한 역량평가 결과를 제시하기 위해서는 가뭄이 자주 발생하는 지역, 복구능력이 탁월한 지역 등을 구분하고 평가하여 지자체가 갖고 있는 가뭄에 대한 역량을 정량적으로 평가할 필요가 있다. 가뭄역량평가(복원력 평가)는 항목의 특성에 따라 크게 내구성, 대체성, 자원동원력, 그리고 신속성으로 구분된다. 본 연구에서는 각 항목별 가뭄 시 적용 가능한 정량적 복원력 지표 8개를 도출 하였으며 지자체별 해당 데이터를 확보하였다. 다음으로 주요 지자체별 복원력 항목 값을 정규화 하여 표준점수화 하였다. 제안된 방법론은 향후 개별 항목특성에 맞는 정량화 방법, 항목별 가중치 부여방법, 그리고 정성지표 고려 등과 같은 지속적인 추가연구가 진행되어야 하지만, 제안된 복원력 정량지표와 그 결과는 지역적인 가뭄에 대한 지자체별 역량강화전략을 제시하기 위한 기초자료로 활용이 가능하다.

Effect Analysis of Guard Band and Quantization Level on BER Performance in OBP Satellite Systems (OBP 위성 시스템에서 보호 대역과 양자화 레벨이 BER 성능에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • MCDD performs demultiplexing and demodulation of multi-carrier signals for signal processing schemes such as switching, channel encoding and remodulation in an OBP satellite. During the demultiplexing procedure, several factors such as frequency offset and/or quantization error degrade BER performance. Hence, influences of those factors should be reduced. A influence of the frequency offset can be reduced by inserting guard band between channels, and that of quantization error can be decreased by quantization level control. In case that the data rate of system is not limited, the guard band and the quantization level do not affect each other. In the other case, however, mutual influence between them should be considered. In this paper, we observe the mutual influence when the data rate of the MCDD is limited, and analyze the BER performance.

  • Our genome exists in the form of chromatin, and its structural organization should be precisely regulated with an appropriate dynamic nature for life. The basic unit of chromatin is a nucleosome, which consists of a histone octamer. These nucleosomal histones are subject to various covalent modifications, one of which is methylation on certain lysine residues. Recent studies in histone biology identified many histone Iysine methyltransferases (HKMTs) responsible for respective lysine residues and uncovered various kinds of involved chromatin associating proteins and many related epigenetic phenotypes. With the aid of highly precise experimental tools, multi-disciplinary approaches have widened our understanding of how lysine methylation functions in diverse epigenetic processes though detailed mechanisms remain elusive. Still being considered as a relatively more stable mark than other modifications, the recent discovery of lysine demethylases will confer more flexibility on epigenetic memory transmitted through histone lysine methylation. In this review, advances that have been recently observed in epigenetic phenotypes related with histone lysine methylation and the enzymes for depositing and removing the methyl mark are provided.

Late development, introduction and development of in-house subcontract in large factory in metal industry - in case of Pohang steel company in the steel industry - (후발 산업화와 금속부문 대공장내 사내하청 노동의 도입과 전개 - 철강업종의 포항제철 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • This article examines that how in-house subcontract has been introduced and developed in metal industry in 1970s, focusing typical workplaces in steel industry. That was essential for the capital to insure control mechanism for large number of laborer because of mobilizing a large scale of capital in industrialization of heavy metal industry. In case of Pohang steel industry, this necessity was fulfilled by introduction and imitation of Japanese personnel management by being included of Japanese economic hinterland. This was embodied in both constructing internal labor market for regular workers and introducing in-house subcontracting system for contingent workers at workplaces. This was exceptional comparing in-house subcontracting system in Korean steel industry with in-house subcontracting system in advanced economies, because of disappearing in-house subcontracting system by making internal labor market. And this was closely linked by late development of Korea. Implications of Pohang steel company's case are as follows : first, late development effect in formation of employment system, second, in linking informality of Korean employment system. This implications mean that in-house subcontracting in steel industry is structured as mechanism for personnel management in large factory being influenced by industrialization of heavy industry. In this point, improvements which include wide economic solution beyond labor solution for present problem of in-house subcontracting system is desirable.

  • It's for USB to be used more frequently than another I/O devices. The Universal Serial Bus is the most successful interface in PC history. It's already the do facto interconnect for PCs, and has proliferated into consumer electronics(CE) and mobile devices as well. USB has built on many killer applications, many CE devices, many interfaces. The tangle of wires among the number of devices in your home demands wireless technology. If our devices is unwired, it solves the tangle of wires. In this paper we want to use Legacy USB functionalities, portabilities, multimedia capabilities with wireless interconnection. This paper is related to a study of USB implementation without wires. This paper is related to make the hub function of USB cordless, so it will connect host with devices without wires. In case making USB wireless, it must support the above functionalities. Moreover, It needs the data structure and the resources for host functionalities, e.g. ETD(Endpoint Transfer Descriptor), data memory. This will benefit a convenient use of USB.
