Adhesive Properties of High Flowable SBR-modified Mortar for Concrete Patching Material Dependent on Surface Water Ratio of Concrete Substrate (콘크리트 피착체의 표면수율에 따른 단면복구용 고유동성 SBR 개질 모르타르의 부착특성)

  • This study investigated the effect of surface water on concrete substrate on adhesive strength in tension of very high flowable SBR-modified cement mortar. The specimens were prepared with proportionally mixing SBR latex, ordinary portland cement, silica sand, superplasticizer and viscosity enhancing agent. Polymer cement ratio (P/C) were 10, 20, 30, 50 and 75% and the weight ratio of fine aggregate to cement were 1:1 and 1:3. The specimens obtained with different P/C and C:F were characterized by unit weight, flow test, crack resistance and adhesion test. After basic tests, two mixtures of P/C=20% and 30% in case of C:F=1:1, and one mixture of P/C=50% in case of C:F=1:3 were selected, respectively. These three selected specimens were studied about the effect of surface water evenly sprayed on concrete substrate by a amount of 0, 0.006, 0.012, 0.017, 0.024g per unit area ($cm^2$) of concrete substrate surface The results show that surface water on concrete substrate increases the adhesive strength in tension of high flowable SBR-modified cement mortar and improve the flowability compared to the non-sprayed case.

  • Experiments were divided into two parts; one part is to understand the basic properties of high flowable VA/VeoVa-modified cement mortar with different polymer cement ratio (P/C) and the weight ratio of fine aggregate to cement (C:F) and the other part is to investigate the effect of surface water spread on the concrete substrate on adhesion in tension. To understand the basic performance, the specimens were prepared with proportionally mixing VA/VeoVa redispersible powder, ordinary portland cement, silica sand, superplasticizer and viscosity enhancing agent. Here, P/C were 10, 20, 30, 50 and 75% and C:F were 1:1 and 1:3. As the change of P/C and C:F unit weight, flow test, crack resistance and adhesion in tension were measured. Three specimens with good adhesion properties were selected among specimens with different P/C and C:F. The effect of surface water evenly sprayed on concrete substrate on adhesive strength is investigated. The results show that surface water on concrete substrate increases the adhesion in tension of high flowable VA/VeoVa-modified cement mortar and additionally improves the flowability compared to the non-sprayed case.

Basic Research of Self Compacting Concrete Using Alkali-Activated Slag Binder (알칼리 활성 슬래그 결합재를 이용한 자기충전 콘크리트의 기초 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is the basic research of self-compacting concrete using Alkali-Activated Slag (AAS) binder in order to emphasize the durability of structures and facilitate casting the fresh concrete in field. The AAS binder emitted low carbon dioxide ($CO_2$) is eco friendly material of new concept because AAS products not only emit little $CO_2$ during production but also reuse the industrial by-products such as ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) of the steel mill. Until now, almost of domestic and foreign research are using Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) for self-compacting concrete, and also, nonexistent research about AAS. The self-compacting concrete must get the performance of flowability, segregation resistance, filling and passing ability. Nine concrete mixes were prepared with the main parameter of unit amount of binder (400, 500, 600 $kg/m^3$) and 3 types of water-binder (W/B) ratio. The results of test were that fresh concretes were satisfied with flowability, segregation resistance, and filling ability of JSCE. But the passing ability was not meet the criteria of EFNARC because of higher viscosity of AAS paste than OPC. This high viscosity of AAS paste enables the manufacturing of self compacting concrete, segregation of which does not occur without the using of viscosity agent. It is necessary that the development of high fluidity AAS binders of higher strength and the study of better passing ability of AAS concrete mixes in order to use self compacting AAS concrete in field.

  • The quality characteristics of concrete using super plasticizer in dornestlc rnarket are evaluat ed in order to put to practical use of high performance concrete with high mobility. high strength ard high durability. For this purpose, rune kmds of super plasticizer are compared and analyzed for the slump, air content. unit weight, water reducing percent and ratios of compressive strength wth admixture content. As a result, the optimum quantity of admixture content were obtained for ordinary and high strength concrete using super plasticizer.

  • In this study, the concrete in which the hybrid fiber with different volume and rate was intermixed in high fluidity concrete. However, Fiber Ball is frequently caused by the decrease in the dispersion of the fiber. The research has been conducted primarily study of single fiber or hybrid fiber, such as different length of single fiber. Therefore, we investigate the mechanical properties of concrete was mixed with a combination of various fibers been produced domestically. Its purpose being to provide basic data for evaluating the impact hybrid fibers on the fluidity of concrete.

Confining Effect of an Internal Steel Tube in a Circular Hollow RC Column (원형 강관 삽입 중공 RC 기둥의 내부구속 효과 연구)

  • When concrete is confined, its strength is enhanced by confining stress. Thus, increasing confining stress makes concrete strength higher. But a brittle failure may occur in hollow RC(Reinforced Concrete) column although its concrete is confined by transverse reinforcements. This brittle failure results from the absence of internal confinement and it decreases the strength and the ductility of a hollow RC column. To overcome this brittle failure problem, a hollow RC column which has a internal steel tube was developed. In this study, an experiment was performed to investigate the existence of to internal confinement by a settled steel tube. Thirty six specimens were tested and test results show the existence of internal confinement by the increase of concrete strength.
