  • Terrorist organizations that take advantage of the occasion of international events are changing from targeting specified people to attacking general public, raising the anxiety of the audience and participating countries. Therefore, the host country intends to improve its status as the host by ensuring safety and crisis management at any cost. As a country with a wealth of experience of hosting international events, Korea takes the burden of the security at Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Consequently, to successfully host this winter Olympics, the organizing committee should bear in mind that Korea is no longer a safe country regarding terrorist attacks and take countermeasures against various crimes and terrorism that may arise during the Winter Olympic Games. This study overviews various measures as follows. First, the change of counter-terrorism strategy is necessary. Second, the safety entity and safety measures for Pyeongchang Olympic Games should be established. Third, private security companies should be actively utilized. Fourth, the safety management training for private security and safety personnel should be strengthened. Lastly, it is necessary to establish a rapid and organic preemptive safety management system to cope with safety and crisis effectively at Pyeongchang Winter Olympics and other international events that will be held in the future.

Bush Growth and Yield of Highbush Blueberry 'Duke' as Influenced by Different Pruning Times in Unheated Plastic House (블루베리 '듀크' 품종의 무가온 시설재배시 전정시기가 수체생장과 과실수량에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was conducted to compare effects of summer pruning at different times and dormant pruning on shoot growth and yield of northern highbush blueberry. Using 7 (2018) to 9 (2020) years old 'Duke' bushes grown in 180 L containers, summer pruning was treated on June 20 (around 30 days after harvest), July 20, and August 20 consecutively in both 2018 and 2019 removing 30% of the total woods, while dormant pruning (conventional) was on January 20 in both 2019 and 2020. Summer pruning reduced shoot growth the following year, especially when treated in late summer. Total shoot length per bush decreased to 47%, 37%, and 33% on October 15, 2020 in June, July, and August pruning, respectively, compared with that of dormant pruning. Summer pruning at different times in 2018 and 2019 did not affect berry characteristic in the following year. Yield per bush was not significantly changed in 2019, but it decreased by 21 to 38% in 2020 in the summer pruning treatments compared with 2.9 kg of the dormant pruning. It was concluded that consecutive summer pruning in 'Duke' under unheated plastic house could weaken the shoot growth with reducing yield.

A Study on Taoist Books Quoted in Juyeokchamdonggyejuhae and the Circumstances of Their Circulation (『주역참동계주해(周易參同契註解)』에 인용된 도교서와 그 유통 정황)

  • Gwon Geuk-jung wrote Juyeokchamdonggyejuhae(hereinafter Juhae) and established his Internal Alchemy(Nae-dan) Theory systematically in the former half of the 17th century. In its annotations, there are many quotes about Taoist books and figures, which leads to an estimation that the Chinese Taoist ideology must have exercised its influences on the formation of his Internal Alchemy Theory. It is thus needed to compare it with the Chinese Taoist ideology to have a clear picture of its characteristics and significance. The first step of the comparative research involved the estimation of Taoist books that Gown must have consulted and the examination of circumstances around Taoist books circulated in Joseon through the quotes in his Juhae, which were categorized into the ones that began with a book title, those that began with a name, and those that began in "In an old poem." They were compared with those of Dojang, and the results show that Gwon must have consulted various annotation books of Chamdonggye including Chamdonggyebalhui and various Taoist books including Gyujungjinam and Geumdandaeyo. The investigator then looked into Taoist books circulated in Joseon at the time when Gwon wrote Juhae and found a circumstance of circulation of annotation books of Chamdonggye by three families including Yu Yeom and collections of Taoist books including Doseojeonjip and Sujinshipseo. They were then compared with the Taoist books in the quotes of the author, and the results show that most of his quotes contained the Taoist books of Doseojeonjip. That is, the specific circumstances of books circulated in the former half of Joseon were clearly revealed in the quotes of Juhae. Of the Taoist books found in his quotes, Jin Chi-heo was most quoted, being followed by Jang Baek-dan, Seol Do-gwang, Jin Nam, Baek Ok-seom, and So Jeong-ji. It thus seems that Gwon was under the huge influence of Internal Alchemy Theory of Jin Chi-heo and Nam Jong.

  • 해양환경의 변화에 따른 식물플랑크톤의 변동 특성을 파악하고자 해양환경변화에 따른 먹이생물의 변화를 살펴보았다. 수온은 하계에 높고 동계에 낮았으며, 염분은 동계에 높고 하계에 낮은 계절변동을 보였다. 용존산소는 하계 내만에서 3 mg/L 이하의 빈산소 수괴가 나타났다. 식물플랑크톤 현존량은 춘계인 5월에 4,500 cells/L이상으로 가장 높았으나, 6월에 급격히 낮아졌다.

  • 최근의 국제 올림픽은 첨단 ICT 기술 산업의 경연장으로서 국가적 위상을 고양하고, 산업 측면에서는 자국의 기술 수준을 과시하는 중요한 기회의 장으로 자리매김하고 있다. 또한 국제 올림픽을 위한 ICT 전략은 올림픽 이후 관련 산업에 발전에 적지 않은 영향을 끼칠 수 있어서 각국은 해당 올림픽의 ICT 기술과 전략 개발에 총력을 기울이고 있다. 본 논문에서는 역대 올림픽 ICT 적용 현황을 간략하게 소개하고 이를 바탕으로 평창 동계 올림픽의 ICT 추진 전략을 분석하고자 한다.

Double Cropping Productivity of Main Whole-Crop Silage Rice and Winter Feed Crops in the Central Plains of Korea (중부 평야지에서 사료용 벼와 주요 동계사료작물 이모작 시 생산성)

  • In order to establish an optimal double cropping system to obtain the maximum annual quantity, we investigated the annual productivity of whole-crop silage (WCS) rice, Jowoo (Jw), Yeongwoo (Yw), and Mogwoo (Mw), and winter feed crops (WFC), Italian ryegrass (IRG), Greenfarm (GF), rye Gogu (GU), and triticale Joseong (JS), in paddy fields of the central plains of Korea. From 2016 to 2019, each crop was subjected to two standard cultivation methods: WCS rice and WFC optimal. Using the WCS optimal mode, the average dry matter yield (DMY) of WCS rice, early flowering Jw, was 15.8 tons/ha and 21.0 for the mid-late heading Yw; there was no significant difference compared to the 19.2 tons/ha late-flowering Mw (p<0.01). The WFC were not significantly different between GF (3.2 tons/ha) and GU (4.5) sown on September 23rd, while JS was the highest at 12.6 tons/ha (p<0.001). There was a significant difference in the order of JS (16.6 tons/ha) > GF (10.5) > GU (4.7)(p<0.001) sown on October 11th. For JS sown on October 31st, the DMY was 11.8 tons/ha, which was significantly higher than that of the other two crops (p<0.05). Except for rye GU, DMY was the highest when sown on October 11th. For WFC optimal mode, the average DMY of JS was the highest at 18.3 tons/ha, which was significantly different from that of GF (10.9) and GU (9.6) (p<0.001). The DMY of WCS rice transplanted on May 10th was the highest at 23.0 tons/ha in Mw, which was not significantly different from that of Yw (21.4) but significantly different from that of Jw (15.9) (p<0.05). On transplanting on May 25th, the DMY of Mw was the highest at 24.2 tons/ha; this was not significantly different from that of Yw (20.7), but it was significantly different from that of Jw (18.6) (p<0.05). When transplanted on June 11th, the DMY was 21.3 tons/ha in Yw, which was significantly higher than the DMY of other two cultivars, Jw and Mw (p<0.05). For the WCS rice-WFC double cropping, the total annual DMY was 33.6 tons/ha with the combination of the WCS rice, Yw, and the triticale JS for WCS optimal mode. Meanwhile, the total annual DMY was 39.6 tons/ha with the combination of the triticale JS and the WCS rice, Yw, for WFC optimal mode. In conclusion, the strategies for obtaining the maximum yield of high-quality forage for WCS rice-WFC, WFC-WCS rice double cropping are as follows: 1) cultivation centered on the optimal mode of WFC, and 2) sowing the WFC, triticale JS in mid-October, harvesting the crops around the end of May and transplanting the WCS rice, Yw, in early June to obtain the maximum DMY of 39.6 tons/ha.
