The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of mother's caregiving satisfaction of a person with mental disorder and factors influencing to it as a positive aspect of caregiving experience. A survey conducted upon 231 mothers who live together with their adult-children with mental disorder through community mental health centers, social rehabilitation facilities and day hospitals. Collected data were analysed by t-test, Oneway-ANOVA, hierachical multiple regression analysis, and so on. The results are as follows: 1) The mean of mother's caregiving satisfaction is 3.06 in 5 point scale. Among the total items of the caregiving satisfaction scale, the means of the items 'finding strength through caregiving' and 'personal growth through caregiving' are higher than any others. 2) In the final regression model, statistically significant factors influencing to the caregiving satisfaction are 'the relationship quality between mothers and the mentally disordered', 'perceived social support from family, significant others, and friends', 'marital status of mothers', and 'family income'. Better relationship quality between mothers and the adult children with mental disorder and higher social support from family, significant others, and friends explained higher caregiving satisfaction of mothers. The level of a widow or divorced mother's caregiving satisfaction is higher than married one. The less family income affected to higher caregiving satisfaction. Variables related to mental disorder of adult-children, such as social function, years of mental disorder and frequency of hospitalization were not statistically significant influencing factors to mother's caregiving satisfaction. Through this research, the implications of social work practice were suggested in many ways.

The study was conducted to identify and clarify the conceptual definitions and attributes of caregiving satisfaction in family caregivers of patients with dementia. The hybird model was used to perform the concept analysis of caregiving satisfaction. Results from both the theoretical review and a field study including 7 participants were included in final process. The concept of caregiving satisfaction was found to have three dimensions with seven attributes. Caregiving satisfaction by family caregivers of patients with dementia was defined as positive of aspects of caregiving usually experienced in three dimensions such as interpersonal dimensions (accomplishing a duty, reciprocity, strengthening of the relationship), role performance dimensions (feeling of accomplishment, emotional reward, emotional comfort) and meaning of role dimensions (positive meaning-making). Based on the results, a tool for measuring caregiving satisfaction among Koreans family caregivers of patients with dementia and effective programs for enhancing caregiving satisfaction should be developed in future studies.

This study aimed to have an understanding of how the users of comprehensive care service for the aged experience the user-centered services. For this, this study placed focus on the essential aspects of the experience of using the service including the meaning of the choice of users being emphasized as practical principles in user-centered services as well as the real context of such a choice. The research methods suggested by Giorgi in phenomenological studies were adopted for data analysis, and intensive interviews were conducted for 10 users living in Seoul who are over 65 years of age. According to the results of the analysis, the interviewees' experience of the service as users were categorized into the elements of "restricted choice of service", "unstrengthened right for the users", "ambivalent emotion about the service", and "awareness of the importance of the relationship with the caregiver", and the essential phenomenon in their experience of the service was "the importance of relationship within restricted choice". This study found out that the choice or self-determination of users was still restricted in the usage of user-centered services. It also found out that the users think it more important to have a positive relationship with the caregiver than the choice of the service granted to them. On the basis of such research results, political implications are proposed to help the establishment of user-centered services.
