Despite many changes occurring in the objects and methods of reading, the importance of reading as the most effective means of developing human intellectual ability is consistently emphasized. However, in Korea, reading tends to be perceived as a part of tedious and rigid education or learning activities rather than an act of giving pleasure and joy while accompanied by fun and interest. In addition, compared to the high interest and emphasis on reading, discussions on reading programs to systematically implement them are relatively insufficient, and it is difficult to find a study in Korea that grasp the overall research trend in the field of reading programs. Accordingly, in order to generally examine research trends in the field of domestic reading programs, an intellectual structure analysis method based on keyword profiling was applied. In particular, basic analysis, keyword analysis, research area analysis, and analysis by period and year were performed in stages based on the keywords of theses and academic journal articles in the domestic reading program field retrieved from the RISS database. In addition, future research tasks were presented by comprehensively reviewing the research trends of domestic reading programs identified as a result of this intellectual structure analysis.

This study analyzes the influences on the reading flow, reading satisfaction, and continuous willingness to read books for parents, teachers, and friends as a reading role model to influence high school students and the differences in the personal characteristics; gender, disciplines, and grade. The result shows that the most important contributor for high school students' reading is friends and male students are more influenced by their friends than female students. In addition, students in vocational high school are more influenced by their friends than students in academic high school. Parents factor relatively affects the reading for male students, 3rd grade students in high school, and students in academic high school. On the other hand, teachers barely affect the reading factors for students.

According to statistics, regarding book reading rates and the number of books read per person, adult literary reading in Korea is very active, even though Internet usage has increased over the last few years. This study plans to discover some practical methods of maintaining this dynamic trend. At present the overall book reading rate in Korea is second to Sweden and the number of books read per person is increasing every year. This study examines the activities of the public libraries in promoting reading the UK, where the book reading rate has been high and a reading renaissance has occurred, as in Korea.

This research aims to provide alternative policy guidelines and suggestions to enhance reading culture in the country. Analyzing "Reading Culture Promotion Act", which is the keystone legal frame to promote readership in Korea, followed by major foreign policies, this study identified three main policy areas including 'Reading infrastructure', 'Tax support', and 'Public Campaign'. In addition, the study conducted Delphi survey of experts' assessments of how much is the recognition of, contribution to, pubic support of, and actual applicability to the reading promotion for the readers. Through the survey along with the Focus Group Interviews of different age groups, this study could develop useful guidelines and suggestions to strengthen existing reading promotion policies. The findings also suggest that the society should realize that reading is not just educational purpose but 'enjoyment' itself and for that matter, the government needs more careful and active public campaigns.

The purpose of this study is to compare the reading effects of face-to-face reading discussion with those of web-based leading discussion. For doing this, 1 made experimental processes: firstly, to select two discussion methods(face-to-face and web-based) on the reading discussion, secondly to apply each of those methods to experimental groups(2 classrooms, 72 middle school students). The results were that there were no differences from both discussion methods in the understanding the book, in the performance degree on discussion process among higher level groups, but the web-based reading discussion model had an impact on the attitude degree of the reading discussion, the preference degree of reading, the attendance degree of reading discussion, and especially, in the lower level groups, the web-based reading discussion method was better for the attendance degree of leading discussion, the attitude of reading discussion than the face-to-face reading discussion.

The purpose of this study is to find out the influence of reading role model (parents, teachers, and friends) and reading effectiveness (reading satisfaction, willingness to persistent reading, immersed reading) reflected on middle school students' academic achievement (Korean Language performance and middle school record). As a result of the analysis, the factors affecting the performance of Korean Language were father (1.9%) and mother (3.4%) among reading role models. Among reading effectiveness factors, willingness to persistent reading (8%) was the only effective factor. In the case of the middle school record, the mother (3.4%) had the only effect among the reading role models, and reading effectiveness was influenced all factors such willingness to persistent reading (10.4%), immersed reading (4.0%) and reading satisfaction (1.9%). However, except for the factor willingness to persistent reading, the it found the influence was insignificant.

초등학교 학생들의 독서능력과 수준을 고려한 독서교육을 위해 본 연구진이 선행연구로 개발한 멀티미디어 기술을 활용한 수준별 독서지원 시스템에서는 학생들의 독서능력을 진단할 수 있는 진단지, 독서능력에 알맞은 도서 및 독서방법 안내, 멀티미디어 기술을 활용한 다양한 감상표현활동 등을 개발하였다[4]. 그러나 독서교육 방법과 도서는 수준별로 제시하여 주었으나 독후 활동은 수준에 관계없이 동일한 활동을 제시함으로써 수준에 알맞은 독후 활동의 어려움이 제기되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 제7차 초등학교 국어과 하위목표와 교육부 ICT 기준안을 고려하여 독서에 흥미를 가질 수 있도록 학생들의 독서능력에 알맞은 멀티미디어 기술을 활용한 수준별 독후활동을 개발하고자 하였다.

In this study, the factors of reading readiness were investigated theoretically and the web-based measurement systems for reading readiness that were developed and operated by the experts or the commercial vendors were examined. On the basis of the results examined, the web-based comprehensive measurement system for reading readiness was proposed. It‘s expected that this study will give libraries with such systems a chance to evaluate their systems and will do much for libraries’ ability to plan their desired system.

This study is on the reading movement of public library. The purpose of this study is to provide who and how to campaign reading for library users. This study aims to analyze research domains and trends of reading education in Korea and, suggest future research direction of this field. First, In order to identify the overview of research in terms of productivity, A basic analysis was performed based on 1,465 articles of domestic serials(1935~2011). Second, The analysis of intellectual structure using author profiling as a technique of text mining was performed based on 652 papers of domestic journals(2000~2011). Third, Depending on the results of these analysis, this study suggested the directions of future research of the field.
