A Study on the Design of Web-Based Reading Instruction System in School Library (웹 기반의 학교도서관 독서교육 시스템 설계에 관한 연구)

  • Currently, Reading instruction has a problem that it's separating subject matter and emphasizing only an activities after reading. This study designed a web-based reading instruction system in which teachers, students and teacher librarians can actively participate to help students to develop the integrated reading ability. Existing reading system have been analyzed to find requirement of web-based reading instruction system. Supposed reading instruction system composed of 6 menus, reading guidance ,reading level diagnosis, book selection, reading strategy, reading presentation, reading discussion.

  • Recently a reading education system has been developed to manage the accumulated reading activities and past records of individuals under the web environment using computers. And the reading education system, where we can have comprehensive reading education, has been developed and been applied to schools. The reading records in the reading education system can contribute to the improvement of reading activities and reading comprehension, the extension of thinking ability, and the cultivation of insight and character of the readers. The system will provide basic data for reading education for the teachers. The reading education system will accumulate the reading records of individuals. This system is not restricted by time and space. Also the system can support the reading education of children and students effectively. The menu of the reading education system is composed of a test of reading level, reading materials, activities after reading, reading certification, reading record management and instruction of teachers.

  • 어린이들은 독서 활동을 통해 새로운 지식을 얻고, 생활의 즐거움을 얻으며, 사고력을 증진시킬 수 있다. 이 때문에 학교에서는 독서교육을 강조하고 있고 정부에서도 모든 학교에 도서관 설치 운영 계획을 추진하고 있으며 사이버 도서관이 갖추어져 운영되고 있다. 사이버 도서관의 운영은 독서교육에 많은 도움을 주고 있으나 초등학교 어린이들이 즐겨 참여할 수 있고 독서 교육에 효율적인 구조로 운영되는 사이트를 찾기가 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 독서 활동에 자기 주도적으로 참여하면서 독서교육을 할 수 있는 독서활동 관리 시스템을 설계하고 구축한다.

  • 일선현장에서 사용되는 웹기반독서교육시스템은 웹의 다양한 장점을 토대로 학습자들의 흥미와 상호작용을 이끌기 위해 주력하였다. 그러나 실제로 학교 현장에서 독서활동이 주로 종이책을 중심으로 온라인 상에서 이루어졌기 때문에 웹기반독서교육시스템은 아동들의 독서활동과 직접적으로 관련시키기가 어려워 주로 독후활동 중심으로 활용되어왔다. 또한 온라인 독서를 할 수 있는 전자도서는 그 자체가 특정 포맷을 토대로 별도의 다운로드를 통해 책을 읽도록 되어 있어 독서 활동으로만 끝나는 경우가 많아 독후활동이 제대로 되지 않는다. 본 논문에서는 웹기반 독서 교육 시스템을 전자도서와 연계하여 아동이 컴퓨터로 책을 읽음과 동시에 독후활동도 병행할 수 있는 방안을 제안하고자 한다.

  • In this paper, we present a Web-based reading system. The existing Web-based reading systems have not provided adequate interactivity among students, teachers and parents so that those systems could not achieve good effects. Our system is designed and implemented to reinforce interactivity using advanced communication technologies. The design principle is based on the constructivism so that we let students learn for themselves. Our system also provide various evaluation processes for enhancing students' understanding.

  • Reading education has been recognized as being important area in the education. But it has many limitations to achieve education effects, because it is very difficult to process in reality. In these days, traditional education methodology needs to be changed for the development of computer science and network communications. It is also applied at the area of reading education. To achieve educational goal in reading education, students must be able to interchange their views without restrictions of time and space. Through this circumstances, they can improve logical thinking and discussion ability. Therefore we need the reading education system which supports reading actions as well as reading instruction. In this paper, a web based reading education system is designed and implemented to improve logical thinking and discussion ability.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the utilization status of the Comprehensive Support System for Reading Education and other Online tools to draw implications for its improvement. The levels of utilization of the system before and after the COVID-19 were compared, in order to analyze the degree of support and the level of contribution of the system to school library education in the COVID-19 situation, where the online platform utilization has been maximized in elementary and secondary education. A questionnaire survey was conducted among teacher librarians to compare the perceptions of the overall online tools and the utilization of the system in the school library education before and after the COVID-19. Requirements for the better system primarily based on teacher librarians' opinions were analyzed. Based on these, it was possible to discover necessary implications for the improvement of the system in order for the system to function as an online platform for school libraries.

  • In this paper, we present a new model of web-based reading education system. The existing web-based reading education system was effective to reinforce interactions of the learners and elevate their reading interests, but the usability of web-based system was extremely unsatisfied during the process of reading required for a long time because it placed importance on the guidance as a result of reading. This paper has divided reading education activities depending upon the times: before reading, during reading and after reading, etc. Web-based reading strategies, which can be actively used at each stage, have been developed to do interaction actively among teachers, students and their parents. Furthermore, application methods of the strategies have been presented depending upon teaching-learning type of Korean language subject, such as professional's cooperative learning and problem solving learning, etc to revitalize reading guidance of regular Korean language class time.

  • For the sake of activating web-based reading education in the public libraries, This study examine the practical use of web-based reading education and research into its activation. Web-based reading, red the book at any time/where with librarian and user, is to achieve the goal of reading education. The methods are to set up Home page of reading education through Internet, to guide user in various web-based reading materials and reading planning at any time. In addition, It is to be completed interactive action such as book review, reading dicussion through E-mail, a bulletin board, chatting etc. with librarian or user.
