Development of Regression Models for Predicting Simulator Sickness in Driving Simulation (자동차 모의운전환경에서 Simulator Sickness의 예측 회귀모형 개발)

  • This study proposed multiple linear regression models to predict those who can be easily infected simulator sickness(SS) in simulator or virtual reality environment. In this study, SSQ(Simulator Sickness Questionnaire) scores which are recently used for assessing SS, and RSSQ(Revised Simulator Sickness Questionnaire) scores are selected as dependent variables. Also ten dependent variables are used. The results are these models coefficient of determination(max $R^2=0.52$) is improved 18% more than Kolasinski's model($R^2=0.35$), and it became easy to predict with simple data. Accordingly, we can easily predict who will be apt to get into simulator sickness.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the ladylike style of Grace Kelly focusing on her costume design of 1950s movie and star image, and to understand how she became a fashion icon today. Her city elegant look was usually composed of A line or H line suits and dresses, pearl jewelry, gloves, handbags and her classic ladylike attitude. Kelly's luxury casual look epitomized a relaxed elegance based on the American sporting image including the Hermes "Kelly" bag. Her sexual elegant look showed the combination of freshness, ladylike virtue and underlying sex appeal. Her self-confident, ladylike style appeals to modern fashionable women who likes to be elegant but also sexy.

Field Reliability Analysis of S-Bond of AF Track Circuit for Automatic Train Control System (자동열차제어장치 AF궤도회로 S-BOND의 사용신뢰도 분석)

  • This paper presents a reliability analysis of S-bonds for AF track circuits, which detect train movement and transmit a speed control signal to the train. Field survey shows that S-bonds are exposed to very large vibrations transferred from rail, and suffer from frequent failures when they were installed on ballasted track. We collected the time-to-failure data of S-bonds from the maintenance field of Seoul metro line 2, and made a parametric approach to estimate the statistical distribution that fits the time-to-failure data. The analysis shows that S-bonds have time-to-failure characteristics described by Weibull distribution. The estimated shape parameter of Weibull distribution is 1.1, which means the distribution has constant failure rate characteristics like exponential distribution. The reliability function, hazard function, percentiles and mean lifetime are derived for maintenance support.

  • By progress of technology, it became possible for us to do many kinds of operations in virtual environment. However side effect is called simulator sickness may occur to human body when human come in contact with this new environment. It makes symptoms similar to motion sickness. Many studies about that were started in 1950s and have actively been progressing in other countries, but in Korea recognition about that field is insufficient. Main contribution of this paper would be the base study about phenomena of simulator sickness which may be occurs in simulator or virtual reality environment, factors which induce simulator sickness, and quantifying methods of simulator sickness.

Effects of Natural Independent Visual Background for Reducing Simulator Sickness (자연형 IVB(Independent Visual Background)의 Simulator Sickness 감소효과)

  • Several studies indicated that an independent visual background (IVB) reduced simulator sickness (SS) and balance disturbance associated with exposure to virtual environments (VEs) and motion simulators. A recent study showed that an IVB comprised of an earth-fixed grid was less effective in a complex driving simulator than in a simple VE. Subjects' post-experiment reports indicated that the VE motion "induced" motion of the earth-fixed grid m. This led to the suggestion that an IVB comprised of clouds would be less subject to induced motion and therefore would alleviate nausea more effectively than a grid IVB. Clouds are "natural" and are usually perceived as relatively stable, whereas a grid has no inherent stability. 12 subjects were exposed to complex motion through a simulated environment in a driving simulator under 3 IVB conditions: grid, less clouds, many clouds. They reported less nausea when the many-cloud IVB was used relative to the grid IVB condition. grid IVB condition.

이슈 & 이슈 - "건설산업 공생발전의 지름길" 주계약자 공동도급

  • 올해 1월 1일부터 기계설비의 겸업제한이 폐지되면서 주계약자공동도급제도가 기계설비에 적용되고 있다. 이에 따라 한국철도시설공단이 지난 4월 2일 총 700억원 대의 기계설비공사를 주계약자 공동도급으로 발주하였고 LH공사에서도 600여억원대의 기계설비공사를 주계약자 공동도급으로 발주할 예정이다. 이같은 성과는 대한설비건설협회가 지난해부터 건설산업 공생발전위원회를 비롯하여 국토해양부 장관과의 간담회, 국가기관 및 정부투자기관 등에 주계약자 공동도급을 기계설비공사에 적용하여 줄 것을 강력히 건의한 결과이다. 또한 서울특별시회를 비롯한 13개 전국 시 도회에서도 지방자치단체에 주계약자 공동도급이 적용될 수 있도록 적극 건의하고 있어 앞으로 국가공사와 지자체 공사에서 주계약자 공동도급이 활발히 발주될 전망이다. 지난 2009년 겸업제한이 폐지된 전문업종에 한하여 주계약자 공동도급이 도입된 이래 전문공사의 경우 3년 동안 총 1,100억원 대의 공사가 발주되었다. 그러나 기계설비공사는 대한설비건설협회의 부단한 노력에 힘입어 주계약자 공동도급이 적용된 지 4개월 만에 한국철도시설공단과 LH공사에서 6건의 공사에 총 1천300억원 대의 공사가 발주되는 성과를 거두었다. 이번 호에는 주계약자 공동도급에 대하여 자세히 알아본다.

  • The power transformation system of High Speed rolling stocks like KTX-Sancheon has shown excellent control capacities in the areas of riding comfortability, switching efficiency, safety and energy consumption due to technical developments in power-electronics, high speed & large scale integrated semiconductors and microprocessors. However, harmonics from IGBT, a high speed switching device used in the Convertor & Invertor equipment of rolling stocks have given rise to various problems in transformer substations, signaling systems, data transmission systems and facility monitoring systems. Especially, TI21 non-insulated track circuits have malfunctioned due to the influence of returning current harmonics which were generated at around of integer times of the number of power transformation equipment in the frequency domain. This paper, measures and analyzes various schemes to analyze the traveling path of the returning current harmonics generated due to the relationship between the rolling stocks and track circuits on site. Ultimately, theseschemes will be used to design high speed rolling stocks, AF track circuits and a common grounding network.

A Study on the Variation of Magnetic Field Intensity by Ceramics Coating Material in AF Track Circuits (AF궤도회로에서 세라믹 코팅재에 의한 자계의 세기 변화에 대한 연구)

  • Automatic train control systems are divided into ATC, ATP and ATS systems etc. The ATP and ATS systems offer discontinuous information for train control. While the ATC systems provide continueous information for train control. There is a method for offering continuous information by AF track circuits. Magnetic fields are formed by current through rails in the AF track circuit systems. So, the continuous information is received by the magnetic fields on a on-board antenna. Coating materials on rails are researched to decrease defects such as head check, shelling, corrugation, squats and so on in Germany. Currently, a coating method of rail construction is proposed by using the ceramics in Korea. When deciding physical characteristic of ceramics, researches are required about variation of flux density by the ceramics. In case that the flux density is much lower than existing value, the information for train control is not transmitted to the on-board antenna. In this paper, inductance on rails is calculated and a model is presented about variation of the magnetic field intensity in the AF track circuit. Standard permeability of ceramics is proposed by analyzing the variation of magnetic field intensity. It is demonstrated by using Maxwell and Matlab program.

A Study on sensibility of Web page (웹 페이지의 감성에 관한 연구)

  • This research was conducted to propose a sensibility model for web site design. At first, we collected 100 sensibility words related to web site design through analysis of journal and questionnaires and analysis of dictionary. 16 web sites were rated according to the degree of sensibility corresponding to each words, on the basis of the Semantic Differential(SD) method. The results of assessment were analyzed by means of the factor analysis and Multidimensional Scaling(MDS) method. From this relational analysis of sensibility words, the 18 representative words were abstracted as a result of the research included unique, unusual, rich, soft, cold, warm, vivid, simple, neat, dynamic, urban, light, somber, bright, dark, fresh, masculine, and hard. Also three sensibility dimensions bright-dark, soft-hard, simple-rich were found.

  • This study deals with the experiment of perceiving visual information according to the positions of vehicle side mirrors. In the design of vehicle, the consideration of safety is very important. Therefore we consider the positions of side mirrors to use visual information effectively which is important factor to driver. This paper presents the position of side mirror to elevate the degree of visual perception for the circumstances of danger by experiments. To exhibit the circumstances of danger. 4 LED(Light Emitted Diode) art located at each side(right. left front. hack) of vehicle. A subject pushes the LED switch to see that if he perceives the circumstance of danger. To record the circumstance of randomly generated danger, computer interface card is used to control 4 LED and swithch on IBM PC/AT Experiments are divided into 2 parts. The 1st experiment present the independence of right & left side mirror. The 2nd experiment present optimal position of right & left side mirror. The vehicle used in experiment is model EL of H Co.. Statistical process of experimental data using SPSS(Statistical Package for Social Sciences)/PC package concludes that 1) the optimal position of right side mirror is 54cm forward of exist position. 2) for the left side mirror, the position of 120cm forward of exist position shows the worst degree of perception. and the optimal position does not exist in statistical meaning.
