A Spatial Analysis of Transit Centers in Seoul Metropolitan Region for Developing Transit Oriented Urban Environments (대중교통중심형 도시로의 개편을 위한 역세권 도시공간구조 분석)

  • Restructuring urban land use patterns from the motor-oriented to transit-oriented ones is a contemporary trend in urban planning and transportation. It is expected that transforming urban land use patterns to be transit and walking friendly would resolve various urban problems such as heavy energy consumptions, air pollutions, and traffic congestions. Korean cities have much potentials for developing transit-oriented urban environments in terms of its density and civil service levels, but the level of transit usage levels and the environmental quality of cities are not good enough for supporting such transition. The purpose of this study is to analyze the urban transit center areas and identify the problems to be solved to create transit-oriented urban environments. Case studies of four urban transit center areas in Seoul Metropolitan region were conducted to examine the spatial characteristics of urban transit center areas and identify their problems. Development density, land use diversity, walk-ability and transit connectivity were the primary feature of interests.

  • The main purpose of this study is to identify urban spatial structure by applying geographic information system and remote sensing data. This study identifies the urban spatial structure of non-megalopolis by analyzing the spatial distribution of population and employment in the case of Daegu metropolitan area. For this purpose, multi-temporal satellite image data (Landsat TM; 1995, 2000 and 2005) were utilized through the geographic information system. The distance-decay estimations in terms of population and employment density show that Daegu region as a whole shows monocentric urban characteristics. However, some evidences of polycentricism such as low explanation power of monocentric urban model, rises in multiple employment centers, decentralization of employment are emerging.

  • The purpose of this study is to diagnose urban spatial structures using spatial modeling techniques for balanced urban development as part of sustainable urban growth management. Since urban spatial structure is an interaction of various activities, it is necessary to interpret the analysis results in conjunction with the analysis of changes in spatial structural elements. In this study, population and transportation were approached for research purposes. Population data were applied to the Getis-Ord Gi* method, a spatial statistical technique, to analyze the concentration-decreasing region of the population. Traffic data analyzed the trend of centrality change by applying commuting traffic O-D data to Social Network Analysis techniques. The analysis showed that urban imbalance was growing, and the centrality of transportation was changing. The results of the analysis of spatial structure elements could be interpreted by linking the results of each factor to each neighborhood unit, predicting changes in urban spatial structure and suggesting directions for sustainable urban growth management.These results could also be used as a decision-making tool for various urban growth management policies introduced to cope with rapid urban development and uncontrollable development in many cities around the world.

  • This study intends to examine the characteristics of the construction method of the urban water system in the historical cities of Korea, focusing on Gyeongju, Gyeongju, Goryeo, Hanyang, and Suwon Hwaseong, which were created as new towns in the late Joseon Dynasty. It examines the meaning of waterways in connection with the urban skeletal structure, focusing on the location of cities, roads, and arrangement of urban facilities, and analyzes the compositional form of the water system. We tried to derive the relationship with the structure. In particular, it can be seen that water and natural water systems act as key factors in determining the location of a city, and have a close relationship with the urban structure, urban development process, and urban structure. In addition to the symbolic meaning of water in harmony with the geographical concept, realistic demands in terms of water level and water retention are an important background. In order to respond to various demands related to water space, various planning and technical elements for managing water space were introduced in the process of city formation and development. The planning elements of the urban water system in the process of urban formation and development are summarized as follows through the analysis of the research site. First, in the process of building the urban water system in Gyeongju, Goryeo, Goryeo, Hanyang, and Hwaseong, Suwon, which were selected as the research destinations, the water system in consideration of drainage and disaster is common, but the water system construction method and usability are common. shows the difference. Second, water and natural water systems act as symbolic elements to secure the legitimacy of the city location, and as a key factor in determining the location of the city in harmony with the geographical concept and determining the left direction of the city. Third, the natural water system prior to the formation of a city works as a basis for determining the compositional form of the urban water system constructed in the process of urban formation and development in harmony with the topographical conditions. Fourth, the urban water system built on the basis of natural water systems is constructed by linking natural waterways and planned artificial waterways. Fifth, the urban water system is being built in a planned manner in consideration of the utility in connection with the urban structure, such as securing of urban land, arrangement of urban facilities and areas, composition of functional areas, and land division, in addition to the perspective of drainage system and flood control in consideration of disasters.

  • 기후변화에 따른 수환경의 변화로 도시홍수로 인한 인명 및 재산피해가 증가하여 도시홍수에 대한 중요성이 급격히 부각되는 상황이지만 국내에서는 도시 내배수 시스템의 선진화기술 구축 및 그와 관련된 연구는 미흡한 실정일 뿐만 아니라 효과적인 침수 저감도 어려운 실정이다. 도시지역에서의 내수침수를 효과적으로 방어할 수 있는 구조적, 비구조적 홍수방어 대책의 수립이 시급한 실정이다. 현재 기존의 도시침수 저감 대책들은 유하시설의 용량 증설 및 통수능 확보를 초점으로 하는 구조적인 대책에 머물러 있으며, 유하시설 위주의 대책은 하류에서의 더 큰 홍수를 발생시킬 위험이 있다. 기존 내배수시설의 전체적인 확장은 막대한 예산과 시간을 필요로 할 뿐만 아니라 지구온난화로 인한 이상기후 및 국지성 집중호우에 완벽하게 대응하기 곤란하므로 구조적인 대책과 더불어 집중호우에 대비할 수 있도록 각 시설물의 기능 및 경제성을 최대로 하며 방재성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 비구조적인 대책이 동시에 수립되어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 비구조적인 대책 중 하나로 빗물펌프장 및 빗물저류조의 연계운영에 초점을 맞추었다. 모니터링 지점을 선정하여 빗물저류조의 추가저류공간을 확보하는 운영을 실시하고 빗물 펌프장 유수지의 수위를 낮추어 내수침수를 저감시킬 수 있는 방법을 제안하였다. 기존의 운영과 본 연구에서 제안한 연계운영을 비교하고 효과를 분석하였다.

  • 경제 제도의 전환기를 맞이하고 있는 중국은 20세기 마지막 20여 년간 빠른 경제 발전을 이루었으며 중국의 도시는 계획경제체제와 중국식 시장경제체제 하에서 독특한 발전 과정을 겪어왔다. 이러한 발전 과정에서 도시 간 물류의 유동과 상호작용을 가장 뚜렷하게 반영할 수 있는 것은 철도망과 철도 운수라고 할 수 있다. 특히 도시간의 장거리 수송은 철도를 위주로 하고 있으며 철도망의 발달은 중국 도시의 형성과 발전에 중요한 요인으로 간주되고 있다. 그러므로 철도망의 구조와 철도 운송 자료는 중국 도시체계의 공간구조를 이해하는데 적절한 지표라고 볼 수 있다. Exploring Spatio-Temporal Variations of Land Price in Daegu Metropolitan City (대구시 지가의 시공간적 변화 탐색)

  • Land price is a kind of text to read urban spatial structure. The purpose of this paper is to inquire into the characteristics of Daegu's urban structure and its change in time through exploring spatio-temporal variations of land price with a detailed spatial and temporal resolution. To achieve this, land value surfaces were represented using the officially assessed land price every other year from 1995 to 2011. Through mapping and exploring spatio-temporal patterns and fluctuation rates of land price for this period, changes in urban structure, the effects of local decision makings such as Greenbelt adjustment, housing site development, and gentrification, and the effects of business fluctuations or policies at global or national scales could be caught. In addition, the trends for suburbanization and multi-centric urban form could be examined from the results of a negative exponential model explaining the effect of distance from an urban center on spatial variation of land price. These results demonstrate that urban analysis using land price mirroring spatial decision making at various scales could deepen understanding for internal structure and change of a city and provide useful information for establishing regional and urban development policies and evaluating their effects.

  • 도시화는 현대사회의 가장 큰 특징이며 도시가 성장하면서 과거의 기능이 변화하고 도시내부의 공간구조가 점차 기능적으로 분화하는 경향이 있다. 그 중 가장 주목할 만한 것 중의 하나는 주거지역의 입지변화와 공간적 확산과정에서 나타나는 주거지 분화현상이다. 도시생태학자 Hoyt은 주거지 이동패턴에 대하여 도시 내의 주거지분포 패턴을 결정짓는 핵심적인 요인으로 최고지대를 지불할 수 있는 부유층의 주거입지 선택에 따라 전체 도시의 계층별 주거분포가 영향을 받게 된다고 주장하였다. 서울은 소규모로 계획된 역사도시에서 인구 1000만의 대도시로 성장하여 오면서 많은 구조적 변화를 경험하여 현재의 공간구조를 이루게 되었다. 현재 전체 서울의 주택지는 동일한 것이 아니고 각종 주위환경에 따른 성격과 특성을 달리하는 요소로 구성되어 있다. 이 특성을 달리하는 주택지들이 모여서 각기 상이한 역할을 수행하고 서로 기능적 관계를 맺으면서 주택지를 형성하고 있다. 선형이론(Hoyt's Sector theory)에 따르면 고급주택지역의 도시 공간구조에 많은 영향을 미치고 있다고 주장하였다. 그럼에도 불구하고 서울의 고급주택지역의 분포와 그 입지 특성에 관한 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 서울시 고급주택지역의 분포를 형성하는 원인을 규명하는데 있다. 고급주택지의 지역적 분포를 파악하여 그 입지 성향과 특성을 알게 되면 도시의 토지이용계획, 특히 주거지계획에 도움이 될 수 있다.

  • The final purpose of this study is to explore morphological change of Shenyang in the period of the rising Chung Dynasty. For that purpose we have tried to build the historical GIS DB of site and analysis of the structure and shape pattern of the city by using the functions of GIS. From the view of spatial structure and cultural context, main characteristics, which is derived from the analysis of ancient map of Shenyang, can be summarized into five things as follows ; transformation of open spatial structure into closed structure, combination of horizontal spatial structure with vertical structure, transformation of practical spatial structure into symbolic structure, transformation of natural spatial structure into institutional form of ancient Chinese capital city, conservation of traditional Manchurian culture.
