Therefore, this study proposed evaluation criteria for health-related information sources based on a survey of public and medical librarians. As a result, a total of 21 items were selected as evaluation items, in three groups. The first, the health information content group, had 13 evaluation items, including accuracy, recency, medical expertise, regular updates, consideration of audience, objectivity, ease of understanding, plain (non-scientific or technical) language, completeness, relevance to the topic, verifiability, citation of information sources, and specification of precautions or warnings. The second group, the health-information sources group, had 5 evaluation items including clarity of health information for achieving its purpose, clarification of the responsibility of health information, compliance to the privacy policy, fairness of health information providers, and ethics of health information providers. The third group was the health-information website design group, and featured 4 evaluation criteria: ease of access, search capabilities, website ease of use, and query-response services.

  • The new technology, RSS(Really Simple Syndication), allows people to send and receive a lot of up-to-date information by constant monitoring websites and databases for new information, without having to visit the site or database. The "gatekeeping" task for capturing and delivering various information influx via new digital channels as speedy as possible, is being discussed as a new form of service in the field of information service system nowadays. Given this situation, the RSS tool can be greatly useful in the gatekeeping task. This paper, by analyzing concrete cases in which RSS is actually employed in libraries and also newly applied to other diverse information services in France, expects to provide insightful ideas for developing innovative information services in other countries.

  • This research investigated the effects of university library users' use patterns and their recognition of service benefits on the magnitude of service value assessments derived from users' statements using contingent valuation method (CVM). Library users' use patterns were operationalized by the number of library visits, library website visit counts and the degree of dependence on their own libraries. User benefits variables were measured by the level of satisfaction on the benefits of library use for teaching & instruction, research & writings, and employment & external activities. University library services were divided into circulation, journal articles (domestic & foreign), reference service, user education, reading room service and WTPs for each service were measured. The results from hypotheses testing show that the number of library visits affect WTP amounts for circulation, foreign article use, reference service and user education. The degree of library dependence seems to affect WTP amounts for circulation and user education. With regards to the hypotheses related to the recognition of library service benefits, the degree of satisfaction for teaching & instruction benefits seems to affect WTP amounts for reading room use.

  • Recently, the expansion of smart phones, wi-fi. and unlimited service changed our life style from personal computer based to mobile device based. With this trend, a lot of companies and government facilities use QR code as an advertising material, and now the QR code is very popular service in our ordinary life. In the meantime, libraries in abroad and university libraries started using QR code in library service about 2 or 3 years ago, and domestic libraries started using it in service due to the increase of establishment of mobile Library websites. In this research, starting with looking into the literature, I analyzed the examples of the use of QR code in libraries. On the base of it, I drew a QR code library service model, and what needs to be considered for the use of it.
